  • Basically $5 shipping as you can just buy prime for a month and cancel. With shopback this is incredible.

    • Can you use cashrewards or shopback if you have prime membership?

      • Is this in US dollars or AU dollars?

        • +2

In terms of Amazon AU prime membership. Amazon AU is in AU dollars.
Edit: Sorry took me a while to understand what you meant. The price listed on this page and on the Amazon site is in AU dollars. The drives will be shipped from the US.

  • Shuckable?

    • Yes. Inside it's WD100EMAZ. Helium, white, 256mb cache, 5400rpm et

      • Thankyou

      • do you need to tape/hide one of the pins?

I heard some WD needs to be fix this way
before it will show on the PC

        • Tape the pins if you don't want to use a molex to sata power adaptor.

          • @Necron: Otherwise snip the 3.3v, if your PSU is supplying power to the 3.3v then it's not following the latest spec anyway and the 3.3v line is useless.

The 3.3v line was previously reserved, now WD use it for turning off the drives, so newer PSU's should keep it unpowered by default.

  • Cyber Monday promo price or new low?

    • New low ever

  • Shopback is 8%?

    • CR is 8, SB is 10

      • Shopback is showing 8% for me now

        • Yeah it changed

The 8TB for $231.21 is pretty good too!

    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07D5V2ZXD?th=1

28.87 per TB compared to $27.60 per TB

    • This will be great for my unraid server.

Now have to decide whether to get 8TB or 10TB……… so hard.

      • Why not both :)

    • Yeah, it is. The price dropped just after I bought 13…. Good deal for everyone else though.

    • it was $224.98 in august 2018

  • So tempting!

    • You can relax your temptness. Sold out :(

      • +1

You can still order for that price. Delivery will be delayed till they have more stock.

Amazon: "Order now and we'll notify you via e-mail when we have an estimated delivery date for this item. "

  • Is this in US dollars or AU dollars?

  • So tempting.. I just shucked my 8TB Seagate on Sunday to put into my new home server.. Should have used this instead. hehe

    • Shucks.

    • did you find an SMR or other drive inside the seagate?

      • No.. It was a Barracuda.. Not the Archive drive. Bargain considering I got that for $185AUD on special from US Amazon.

    • when did you buy the 8TB seagate and can you give a link?

Most of the seagates use SMR which is pretty shit

  • sold out while it was in the cart :(

    • +1

      It's back

      • I ackshully gave up before you replied.
        You sir/madam are a legend.

        • You're welcome :)

  • I'd be terrified of losing 10tb of data at once.

    • +1

I mean the amount doesn't matter. If there is data you can't afford to lose, you back it up

For example, I hoard a lot of data but can afford to lose 80% of it as I can download it again. The 20%? I back it up. So if a drive dies, no matter the size, I actually wouldn't have any data issue - just the loss of the drive

      • +3

        ^this

I have over 50TB of data, and while it may cost a lot to do so, I have backups for every drive. My data is worth more than the drives.

    • you should be able to tell if it's starting to fail via S.M.A.R.T. monitoring, you get a chance to move the data.

  • hmm.. showing out of stock and $308.28 for me!

    • That's why I marked it as expired

    • it's $430 now
