  • It doesn't allow you to use your own created username and
I can not change my username and it's completely random and I can't remember it and it won't allow you to log in with your email address.
You have to remember a STUPID RAMDON USERNAME.
    My username is like this:
    aij59xxxxxx77

You should only need to enter it once into your usenet client, so there's no need to remember it.

  • Newsdemon has similar plan n unlimited one for $5.13
Is it worth getting unlimited plan to 1tb ?

I never used newsgroups so was wondering if subscription to newsgroups is what we need ? And searching for nzn files and downloaders are free ?

NewsgroupDirect is a 1TB block that can be used as wanted and doesn't expire. Newsdemon unlimited would be a month to month option.

You will need access to an indexer(mentioned in previous posts about Black Friday newsgroup deals) and the NZB download client (which is free).

It's a different way to get your Linux ISOs compared with torrenting. In the old days before indexers it was a lot more difficult, grabbing all the .par files and the voodoo magic .par2 files. Good old geeky fun.

I might be able to assist Wesleynz. Can you give me the xxxxxxxx details so I can isolate and identify the "stupid random."
    Thanks

  • What are fellow users using Usenet for and in particular this block?

Rookie question: what is usenet ?

    • +2

For a more useful reply than Chupa Chups, Usenet is sort of an alternative to Torrents (but not the same thing). Providers host data on servers, indexers collate and provide links to that data and we can combine these 2 services to download anything on providers servers. There’s a lot more to it and I’m only just getting into it now so someone else might have a better description.

The difference between Usenet and Torrents is the number of clients you connect to. Torrents rely on peer to peer and will connect to a large number of different people to download something. Usenet on the other hand connects to a single source server and downloads from there directly
