Highly recommend Azul, Patchwork, Quest for El Dorado, 7 Wonders Duel and The Arkham Horror Card Game at those prices too.

Azul and El Dorado are particularly good choices for anyone who might have already picked up Ticket to Ride or Catan in previous deals and looking to expand their collection.

7 Wonders Duel and Patchwork are two of the best 2 player games around, great for couples.

Would you happen to have any other suggestions for casual games that are good for couples? Or games for more people that are similar to Cranium, Codenames, Pictionary etc. that are pretty simple and people talking about random stuff rather than being more technical/involved?

I'll mention some games, but I haven't sighted them in this Amazon deal so you may have to check for best prices yourself.

For two players I also love Kingdomino (also does 3 and 4, but I like two best), Schotten Totten and Star Realms, and they're all fairly casual.

Concept is probably my favourite game that fits that Cranium/Pictionary type niche, but its not my favourite in general. Carcassonne is probably the gold standard for strategic, but friendly and chatty game. Sushi Go! is also great, and then you have Co-ops like Hanabi and Forbidden Desert which are both excellent.

EDIT: and just to comment on Ticket to Ride and Catan from the OP - Ticket to Ride is fantastic at every player count IMO, but I've found its always a quieter game because people spend all their downtime thinking about their next turn lol. Catan I would pass on personally… to me its like a slightly better version of Monopoly and I hate Monopoly - but if you like dice and trading it might be for you.

        • Thanks an absolute million!!! I'll watch some videos on all the games you've suggested. No problem that they're not in this sale, I was just hoping to get some general suggestions so your comment is perfect!

Edit: I really like the look of Dixit too, not sure if it's in the Amazon sale though

@Pulseidon: Kingdomino is there actually listed for $25 - no brainer tbh.

      • Agricola All Creatures Big and Small is a great 2 player game that is easy to play, but has some strategy.

    Guaranteed genuine?

I’ve read fake copies from amazon before.

Also, is it free delivery over $49 spend? Or only with Prime?

Scythe, Race for the Galaxy and Viticulture Essential Edition are all priced well too for people looking for something heavier.

    • +2

      All three amazing!

    • Love Viticulture!

  • So dumb question….. Even though it's sold by international seller, those prices are AUD right?

    • +1

      Yes.

  • With amazon cashrewards.
Can you have everything in the cart and checkout?
Or do you need to add from a fresh cart?

    • +2

With Amazon you have to click the CashRewards link first and then add to cart. Anything in your cart before the CashRewards click won't be counted.

    • I’ve been using the save for later function and then logging back in through Cashrewards. It’s been picking up the cash back.

      • Thanks, was wondering about this. I've been using that as a wish list, but when I go to buy deleting even from that section then searching and re adding to cart.

    Catan back to $53

    • Damn I was about to buy it too…

    • Argh. Was just about to buy as well.

  • Codenames cheaper on ebay, even more so if you get 5% off gift cards or add other items to your order to make up a minimum spend.

    • +5

I would put money on that being a copy.

    • +1

I’m guessing it’s a fake. Looking at sellers other items they seem to specialise in knockoff jerseys and popular board games..

  • From experience I have also gotten a fake game from amazon sellers. Beware…

  • How can you tell they're fakes? Aren't they in the end still a playable boardgame?

    • +1

In the end, yes. It's just whether you care that:
      1) materials can look dodgy/copied/poor quality, or whether you like nice things and also
      2) whether you feel the often slight savings are worth the creator losing out entirely and giving most of that to someone who's just made a copy instead.

    • On eBay, read the sellers' negative feedback - the dodgy sellers usually have some feedback that says they sell fake stuff.

      • I assume there are reputable online board game sellers that definitely wouldn't be selling fakes?

Can anyone list a few please? :-)

        • Gameology is pretty good - If you live in Melbourne they have a store you can visit as well!

Also recommend Santorini for only $33.79

    • Cool - just bought a copy - looking forward to playing it.

Game of Thrones Catan is going for $68 shipped with Prime. Most other stores here have it for over $110.

  • Damn it. There goes $140.

  • Ticket to Ride now $68.95. Anyone have a spare they wouldn't mind selling?
Hope it's not too off topic, but any other game suggestions for English conversation students?

    • Love this game…was going to buy a copy for family, but the special ended before I pulled the trigger.

      I snoozed…I loozed,

  • Ticket to Ride sold out while I was dithering around other purchases.

  • Boooo. I also failed

  • Most of games are now +30% up.. saved me from spending 130$ but probably I will spend more buying it in local shops for Christmas presents..

  • Prices are now done for reference: Codenames back to $28.91

  • +2

    Settlers now at $40

  • Ticket To Ride was available at $38.52 for a minute just now…it changed price again quickly (back to $68.95), but it let me check out at the lower price.

  • Ticket To Ride was $38.52 and it went up just as I was adding to cart.
