This is nearly two years old.
When it was launched (late 2016 / Jan 2017) it was comparable to the GoPros. Its positives were the underwater housing and image stabilisation. Main disadvantages were the different shape to the GoPro and the proprietary accessories (though I'm not certain about this - it may have a standard screw mount but what accessories are available for that nowadays, I can't say).
By all accounts GoPro have finally upped their game with their latest generation, so this is not really in that league.
Having said that, I would much rather have this than the Nikon I bought for about $50 more last year. But I can't justify splashing out on another Action Cam plus all the necessary accessories.
Which brings about the point - check the price and availability of any accesories you might need!

Yeah these old Sonys are a bit naff now, though GoPro 5 footage looks rubbish compared with the 7… funny how what looked OK before can suddenly look terrible. I'd certainly take a hacked Hero 2018 over this deal.
