  • My email doesn’t mention anything about expiring in January 2019?

  • Wait.. if 7GB was just enough for me, did the plan get expensive by $4/ month? I remember that I paid around ~$13-$14/month last year.

    • Nah last year it was probably the BOGOF, so 50% off + $20 off purchase knocking the price down. Now it's only 40% off.

  • I bought a 365 plan just yesterday and redeemed the code today, how unlucky

    • +1

      ‘Tis the OzBargain curse

    • You will still get newer data allowance.

  • +2

Well timed, Kogan.. Nicely played! Just when everyone thought that Lebara was increasing its market share, BOOM! Only thing missing is intl calls now!

  • +2

For those that don't know…. The Kogan share price has completely tanked! From a high of $10 to now sitting around $2.78. This is great for us consumers, as they will continue to provide us with good deals!!

    • Yep, founder keeps dumping loads of shares.

      • +2

It doesn't give one much confidence when the owners sell their own shares in the company. Probably a great call by them, but not so good for the rest of the investors.

    • Just wondering what will happen to the remaining credit paid upfront when kogan has completed tanked?

      • You become an unsecured creditor. You get nothing. Standard legal procedure.

  • I don't understand, its cheaper at the moment so why is a price increase on ozbargain?

Can someone confirm with me? OP says,

      "13GB Medium plans get a 25% discount ($18.30 every 30 days/$222.65 across 365 days)".

So is this the price it will be tomorrow? Right now it's at $205.60 and the 13gb is already advertised on the page too. Am I missing something?

      • +1

Thanks for the heads up! I got the email about this offer too because my plan is expiring soon. Got one for myself since it is cheaper.

    • +4

Thanks for this post. I just bought this right now. $205 minus $10 refer a friend credit, minus $20 cashback from Amex. Woo!

      • Did you get a message from Amex or something in the statement about the cashback? I thought it said in the terms that Kogan mobile was excluded from the cashback.

        • yeah I did so all good.

  • Wait a moment?
    I am on LARGE - 365 plan.
And it is still 17 Gb.
Have everyone received the data increase yet?

    • It says it starts tomorrow

      • As far as I understand the sale (up to 40%) is tomorrow.
        The data is today:
"Starting from today, Kogan mobile customers on Medium, Large and Extra Large pre-paid plans will receive…"

        • I just checked mine and it says 20309.33MB. Maybe it has been added already

        • I am not the only one that got confuse and received 11 neg XDD

  • +1

Wow, kogan continues to impress me with their massive data value, and giving existing customers the same benefit. No complaints about that unlikely some companies who only reward new customers. Might switch back when my 6 months amaysim runs out.

  • How is this better than the he lebara offer ?

  • +4

All cheaper here for existing customers:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/359466

    Works out
    365 Day Plans
    13GB Medium 365 Day Plan $205.60
    20GB Large 365 Day Plan $254.30
    40GB Extra Large 365 Day Plan $315.10

    • +1

Only the 13GB plan is cheaper, but still - imagine all the people being misled! Lucky I read the comments before diving in and waiting for tomorrow to buy…

      • +1

Maybe op can amend original post?

  • Just be warned: I was already on the 32/40gb prepaid plan, not set to expire until 2nd of December. I just bought the 20gb annual prepaid plan, received the code in my email and assumed it would tack it onto my existing prepaid. Sadly it has not and my expiry date has been reset to 15 November 2019. I'm gonna call them in the morning to get it sorted out.

    • +3

They never stack. In the past I called them and they refunded previous one. I don’t know if they will refund you though. Worth a try though

      • +3

Yeah I just found this buried in the help centre:
        https://help.koganmobile.com.au/hc/en-au/articles/206082668-…

        Important info:
If you purchase an additional prepaid call plan it will void all existing credit from your current plan. Overriding your prepaid plan is both non-refundable and unable to be reinstated. At the end of each 30 day period, any unused data from a prepaid call plan will be forfeited and does not roll over into the next 30 days.

Not too sad if they refuse since I was only 2 weeks out from expiry.

  • +1

Wow! Kogan coming through with the plan upgrades :)

  • -1

So if I'm a new customer, I won't be able to take advantage of the M $18.30 13GB offer? Looking at porting over from Telstra.

    • +1

Yes you will. Everyone gets upgraded

  • (Answered above)

  • My voucher doesn't run out until July. Can i buy in Jan and use in July?

    • +4

No, I don’t think so. Renewal vouchers must be activated by end of February. If you call Kogan they might be able to refund remaining of current one and add new one. Your plan will then restart from when you do that operation. I would wait if I were you, as there is always other offers coming all the time.

  • cool, i can download more p0rn.

  • +2

LOL I can't even use the 3GB on my Small plan (downgraded from M last year since 1.5GB wasn't enough, but then they went to 2, then 3GB and it was more than enough). At this rate, I'm hoping they start releasing an XS plan with less data so I can save even more!

  • I'm seeing the 13GB medium plan as $299, not the advertised $222. What gives?

    • Wait till 9am

      • +1

        Of course…how silly of me.

        • +3

No don't wait until 9am. Here's a link to the Medium plan for $205.60…

          https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-mobile-prepaid-voucher-co…

I'm still not sure why OP isn't including this in the description.

          • @clemoly: Thanks. Updated. 👍

          • @clemoly: Thanks for that.

Slack website management means that they have a page that still has the old prices but glad they do. :)

            • @sir_bazz: Ah bugger, should've checked here before buying. Just paid $222ea for 2x vouchers. Ah well, it's only an extra $17. Still insanely good value.

  • Any disadvantages to Prepaid vs post paid?, I'm on post paid with Vodafone but this looks like a great deal.

    • +1

It's mostly really good. Just be sure of your usage. If the plan you select has inadequate data, whilst you can buy upgrade data packs month to month you can't upgrade the whole plan without forfeiting the old one.

Also no Vodafone $5 overseas roaming, but I grab local SIMs anyway. It's cheaper for anything more than a couple of days.

I'd never go back to post paid.

  • +2

    Still no upgrade yet??

Just checked. Still sitting at 7 gb.

    • +2

No upgrade for me yet either. Still 7 GB.

    • Still showing 7gb for me and my data just renewed last night.

Just called Koganmobile, and was told to wait for up to 24 hours for the increase to show up in the account.

      • hmm.. 24 hrs from the announcement? which was about this time yesterday ? or 24 hours from when they told you that …

        • My understanding is that the 24 hrs starts from mid-night last night, so we should expect an update in the system by mid-night tonight.

    • Still showing 17gb for me (not 20)

  • Does anybody know what happened to spend x save y type kogan vouchers on ebay? They completely disappeared. Or where can I get them?

    • I think they are gone, not around anymore

  • I'm interested in this. Does anyone know if I can use this XL 365day code for new XL 30day plan SIM card?

  • +1

SIMs are agnostic, so I guess you would able to do that. Give Kogan a call though to check, they're actually quite helpful when I've had to call them 👍

  • It says for exisitng customers only, what does this exactly mean? They give you a sim card as well. Or does it mean we lose our number if we transfer from another provider?

    • +1

Unfortunately it looks like they've removed the really cheap 90 days new customer vouchers as those were really good value to try-buy before committing to 365 days.

Edit: see post below for 30 day $0.99 deal.

If you buy the medium pack then you port during the SIM activation process. Make sure your name, DOB and address are 100% correct with your existing provider first before trying to port to Kogan.

      From webpage..
After purchasing this product, you will be sent a unique Kogan Mobile voucher by email within 24 hours and a Kogan Mobile SIM Starter Pack by post. To redeem, simply login to your account and use the voucher to recharge. The voucher can be redeemed for a MEDIUM 365 Day Plan without any additional charge.

The above deal says for existing customers only. Can I buy this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/414657 for $0.99 and to become a Kogan customer then recharge with the 13GB plan, or am I locked in the initial 32GB plan?

  • So, any $20/$30 off coupons floating around that anyone knows of?

    • I don't think they do them anymore

      • SAD.

  • Updated 13GB.

    • My daughters medium just updated, but the L hasn’t

      • All updated now

  • +2

When I joined in September last year on the large plan it was 10GB with the gift card discount making it $19 a month. The first day of joining got increased to 11GB. 3 months later it was 14GB. Earlier this year it went to 17GB. Now 20! After just over a year, got double the data I originally had for FREE! For around 5 years I was paying $40 a month for 6GB through different companies. Well done Kogan!

  • +2

Discount price of the SMALL plan is being pushed up all the time.
Was once $120 or so. Then recently $152. Now $162.

Time to change to Belong Mobile.

Only $10 for a FULL month for unlimited calls, text, MMS with 1GB data with unused balance rolled over.
In fact they are part of Telstra! (Shhhh)
And the best part - they the Telstra network.
Works out at only $120 per year. Ansd no need to wait for the specials.
So much cheaper than Kogan if you dont use much data.

    • Do u have direct link pls
Edit: is it a post paid service like Vaya? And also are u locked in a contract

      • Kogan Mobile are pre-paid plans, pay 365 days in advance, so not locked into any contracts. Port out when you wish.

      • Google has all the answers

    • Have you also compared with the 365 day deal $99 from Aldi also?

      https://www.aldimobile.com.au/plans/99-super-pack/

Or Lebara $49 180 day deal (with o/s calls)?:

      https://www.lebara.com.au/welcome-offer

      Lebara also uses Telstra.

Must be activated by 30th November though.

Mother has been happy with her Kogan SMALL 365 day plan 3 GB pm (paid $152.10 at the time), but looking at comparisons.

      • Lebara uses the Vodafone network, not Telstra. If it was Telstra, I’d be on it over Kogan easily.

      • I'm on the Kogan Small (3Gb) plan - still way more data than I can use, so I'm going to port to Aldi (Tel$tra secondary network) 365 day deal ($99). I have decent access to WiFi so I'll take my whole $50 saving and just watch my usage.

FWIW, I've been 99% pleased with my Kogan experience. Poor country coverage - but Tel$tra was only marginally better.

  • If only their network coverage map didn't border on being misleading and deceptive. '4G indoors' my ass.

  • +1

I am on the large plan and it shows 23GB for me :D

    • That's pretty good hey!
Online it still says 20 GB.

      https://www.kogan.com/au/shop/phones/prepaid-plans/

      • +1

to be honest.. even the upgrade to 20GB happened way long ago .. probably 20days since I had my app showing 20GB …

        • Yes, I recall some recent increases to existing accounts (Small, Medium and Large 365 day accounts here)… hard to keep up with them all!

Large was only 16 GB when purchased last January $254.30.

          Medium was purchased on a "2 for 1" deal $299.90/2 = $150 each, only 6 GB originally.

Small was $152.10, only 2 GB originally.

          • +1

@JediJan: I bought the large plan when it had 11GB .. and when the good old $20 off 100 and $30 off 120 could be combined

  • I didn't receive any emails with special offers but received an sms from Kogan about my Medium 365 day plan.

"Great news! Your MEDIUM Kogan Mobile data allowance has increased from 7GB to 13GB per 30 days! Enjoy more browsing and downloads."

Ps. Similarly for LARGE 365; said 17GB to 20GB.

When we renew our Kogan 365 day plans we are actually thinking of dropping Medium to Small, and also Large to Medium, as we don't think we would really need the extra data.

  • Is anything stopping me from getting the $0.99 sim from the other Kogan deal this month and then getting this deal this month whilst using the same number the whole time?

  • -3

No international roaming… can't even receive an sms when overseas… How are you meant to do banking when overseas?

    • +1

      Internet banking and Skype?

    • +1

Clearly this ain't a SIM for when you go overseas.

Buy a separate SIM for overseas travel, if you're desperate to get this deal.

    • You can receive free sms overseas with amaysim.

  • My kids have a medium plan now. Expires on May 17th 2019. Can i buy the medium plan now at $205.60 and apply it on May 17th so it continues for a year please? When is the last day this voucher has to be applied. I could not find that info in this thread. Thx in advance.

    • +1

      No you can't do that.

The unique Kogan Mobile voucher included as part of this product is non transferrable and cannot be redeemed for cash.
Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEDT on 28/02/2019. Activation must be made before the voucher expiry date.
