Found a full page ad for this in the Daily Telegraph this afternoon while waiting for coffee:

Need to be a new user, submit your email on the site to get a code by Sunday 11:59PM, and then use the credit on Monday (19th), by 4PM.

Seems to be promoting you can purchase food from participating venues now too.

As per Anubis' post below, codes will be sent on Monday, so just a small window of time to use the credit before it expires.

      Would explain why I haven't had a confirmation email too. As an existing user, I'll likely be ineligible, but will have to wait and see :D

    Grr i hate their new deals format. It no longer shows the deals cafes at the top and you get a daily email saying what cafes have deals.

    Its also now capped with discounts that you get charged for soy or large or any changes that are made. It gets addded on top of the $2 coffee. Grr

      yeah, the new format is crap. I've gone from multiple daily use to rarely opening the app.

  • How many restaurants are there ? how do i find out if its even worth me getting this as i dont want to get it if i cant use it and someone else can. I am in north ryde, is this more useful for people in the city?

      Plenty of places around Macquarie Park/North Ryde/Chatswood.

      No idea on an exact number lol but enough so you can take your pick. I recommend Hattrick, great coffees and the loyalty card is only 4-5 coffees instead of like 9-10 before a free one.

      In city, just many more close together. In Ryde, you probably have some around, but might have to drive a km or 2 to get there. I usually check whats around, then Google reviews to decide which to go to. You most likely have a few in your area, a couple of km away from each other though perhaps. In the city you would have >20 within short walking distance.

      • Interesting, i had tried using the website on my desktop before i posed this question and it didnt seem to work properly, must have been my browser. No matter what postcode i put in, it was just empty.

          • @Slo20: All good! Hey You has had different methods of credit in the past. I grabbed a coffee a couple of weeks ago from a credit that had been sitting there for a month or so. This one is just a few hours to use it. Monday lunch really.

      Almsost definitely should be able to use referal plus code for $15.
      You can certainly use referal ($5 applied) then also code:COFFEE (1 free coffee). Therefore I would expect the code for this deal can still be applied. I have had 5 codes applied to account at same time (when app was new, many more codes were available).

        But now received email explaining I was too late - Thank you for participating in our campaign. The number of registrations we received exceeded our expectations and unfortunately we are unable to offer you free lunch as you were outside the first 1000 to register.

        Sent my email a few hours after posted.

    For those who didn't get the email by 1130 (including me),

    Write a complaint to fair trading and attach the newspaper advert. They will definitely get fined for false advertising

      State Office of Fair Trading, in my experience, do not deal with false advertising, simply help on arbitration of disputes.

      ACCC covers false advertising

      But HY can simply say offer was changed or withdrawn.

    I have received no code whatsoever. But I checked my profile and I have the $15 credit sitting there. Also applied "lunchtime" and my credit became $20. Just tried ordering lunch from Pasta Pantry (currently have 50% special) at MLC and will pick up soon. It seems to have debited $5.45 salad I just ordered.

    How tf are you supposed to order anything on this stupid app when everything is either closed or “back online soon”?

      Were you ordering at the time you posted your comment last night or did you try order during lunch when most places should be open or online?

      • Time of posting. There’s only restaurants on the app near me that don’t open on Hey You until 5pm. But then appear as “back online soon” the whole time they’re open.

          Maybe they were once part of Hey You, but no longer are. I know the DJs Market St Espresso Bar was always offline, even when I was looking at it during store trading hours.

          Plus wasn’t the code to have expired at 4 p.m.? So you wouldn’t have been able to use it at the time of posting, right?
