AEG 300W 125mm Random Orbital Sander $99 @ Bunnings (Nationwide?)

90

Was searching around Bunnings for some new tools for my trade, and saw this on sale for $100, last time I check, they were ~$150, cant go wrong with them, 6 years warranty, would buy this if my Bosch would die already.

Also found Dewalt Red Beam 360 Degree and Cross Line Laser on sale from 249 to 148, these rrp for 250, Sydney tools also have them for 149, pbly so they dont have to price match

    6 year product extended trade warranty*

    Any idea what that little * means?

    • Terms and conditions? Maybe not covered by external or self inflicted damages

          lol no you don't. ACL forbids that sort of shit. If they try pulling that let them know the ACCC would like to have a word.

            @Tacooo: really? Where do they say that?

            My understanding is they give you a standard warranty, then if you register, you get a free extended warranty, which sounds reasonable.

            • @[Deactivated]: This should cover it;

              "It is common practice for advertisements to include some information in fine print. This information must not contradict the overall message of the advertisement. For example, if an advertisement states that a product is ‘free’ but the fine print indicates some payment must be made, the advertisement is likely to be misleading."

              If they advertise a 6 year product, 3 year battery on the packaging and website but require you to do something to attain that then it's misleading. Bunnings make no mention of the extra terms required on their website either, just have the asterisk next to the item. They must advertise the 3 year part, 1 year battery as the standard and then include the extra part in the fine print. On top of that, Bunnings make no mention of the 1 year/3 year battery portion of the warranty, hence you'd be able to claim the battery under the standard 3 years too (or 6 seeing as you were misled).

    • Generally if used for commercial or trade then the warranty is reduced that's what I was told, might depend on the tool or model. Not 100% sure. Best to ask.

  • I have the 150mm AEG sander and it works well except the velcro pad didn't last long at all . A replacement assembly is $70 , I just use contact spray now .

    • Is the pad assembly covered under warranty?

      • I highly doubt it . I emailed aeg but never got a response .

  • must say the Velcro pad idea for these types of power tools is terrible, my kids Velcro strap barely last a few weeks let alone on products like this.
