Hey All,

I went to checkout the new Glen this weekend and had a cocktail on the house. It helped ease shopping with the wife and kids for a bit so I'm not complaining.

Headlining the launch celebrations will be a pop-up Gin Gallery created in collaboration with cult Australian gin brand, Four Pillars. Located near UNIQLO on the Ground Floor and open Thursday to Sunday, it will offer complimentary cocktail tastings featuring Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin and Negroni Spiced Gin.

  When I was there I was amazed to learn that Four Pillars don't actually distill their alcohol. Their alcohol is distilled by some factory who does vast quantities for laboratories and industries. Four Pillars have these shiny expensive stills but only use them to infuse the flavour into the 100% pure ethanol. Once its infused they water down the ethanol and bottle it. They advertise themself as being craftsmen but they are just infusing vodka with a flavour sachet essentially. There is no risk in something going wrong and creating a bad batch which has undesirable flavours. And their "Master Distiller" runs like three other businesses and is the chairman of the board of Australian Distillers Association. He doesn't run the still at all (because there's no skill needed like I said before). This results in a very over priced product which has no craft or skill involved and in my opinion a rip off, even if it does taste nice. Actually, I overstepped, they have skill involved but its just in marketing.
