Image quality is much the same as the X-T20 based on online reviews. Main difference is the CPU is slow compared to the higher models.
It's half price of the X-T20 kit, only $30 more than the X-A2 kit and cheaper than the X-A5 kit by $160.Acknowledged, my comment was intended to let people know that this model does not have the x-trans magic for which Fuji cameras are known for.
I think the whole point of X-Trans is to be able to omit the AA filter and compensate with processing. That being said it's being proven in numerous tests that it really isn't superior to the Bayer sensor and is just a marketing gimmick.
At this price the XT100 is a really solid buy, although if only there was an option with the 18-55mm kit lens
How does the picture quality compare to my iphone X?
significantly better, i bought a x100f recently (same sensor as the X-T100) and it just blows my pixel 2XL out of the water!
X100F is an X-trans sensor, whereas the X-T100 is bayer. Image quality will be much better than your average flagship mobile phone though…
iPhones or top androids have great cameras now a days. And for ease of use they can’t be beaten. Many moments are such that the best camera is what you have on you at that time.
There are many good apps which provide more manual controls for an iPhone. I would suggest using those first. Also learning photography through a course or a book. You can take some really great photos with flagship mobiles
Having said that if you want more control for let’s say landscapes , larger prints , better quality in low light , specialised lenses for wildlife etc, an SLR is still in a different league.
Portrait mode on these phones is impressive, however I've getting more into photography lately, and portraits on the smartphones look worse and worse compared to a portrait taken with a wide aperture.
much better, it’s based on physics and a proper camera has bigger lens so catches more light , this is especially important in low light conditions, also when zooming, phones physically have limited ability in how far they can move a lens.
even extra level dslr like nikon d3300 will take better pictures than an iphone or pixel.
phones are convenient as they are always with you, dedicated cameras aren’t.
Is the kit lens that come with this camera any good.? Thanks
Fuji are known for their lenses, and even kit lenses of quality.
You will find it to likley be above another brands entry level kit, but even fuji make some higher grade kits lenses.
This is great value for a new kit, but you are better off picking up a 2nd hand x-t20 and an 18-55mm. Might cost you a little more but it's a better start if you think there is any chance you will outgrow. From the reviews it is a very good lens. The only negative its f/3.5-5.6 so not as fast as the kit lens that comes with X-t20 and above but that lens has been praised as one of the best kit lenses of any camera system.
The lens goes for $300USD
Another cheap lens which which you may consider buying with this camera is the Fujifilm XF 27mm f/2.8 Pancake Lens at $158 after cash back. Cheapest I have seen.

149 after cash back

few years ago , I bought Fuji 27mm for $99 after cash back , still use it but very rare , replace it with the 23mm which is much wider and better.
It has Bayer filter array with no anti-aliasing filter, unlike X-Trans sensor in X-T20, X-T2/3.
