[QLD] Costco Bundamba Membership Free Months until Store Officially Opens ($60 Membership Fee Still Applies)

610

Sign up to Costco Ipswich/Bundamba QLD and you can use your card immediately at any other Costco store worldwide and the 12 month membership starts when store officially opens currently slated early 2019.

You still have to pay the $60 membership fee, you just get a few months extra free to use at other stores.

Only 'close' one for QLD is North Lakes, a few minutes north…

As per news article linked,

Dear valued member,

Thank you for signing up as a member. We had planned to open our new Ipswich warehouse this year in late November in time for Christmas.

Although the warehouse itself is progressing well, and despite the best efforts of our contractors, we cannot open until the roadwork upgrades and related services are completed. For this reason, we will be delaying the opening until the new year, with a date to be announced.

As a valued member we regret the delay and apologise for any inconvenience. We would like to assure you that your membership will be valid for 12 months from the date we open early next year. In the meantime, you are welcome to use your membership at any Costco location around the world, in Australia and also in Northlakes, Brisbane.

Once again, we apologise for this inconvenience and will update you as soon as the opening date is agreed.

Sincerely

Patrick Noone

This is great because I need to make a Greek salad.Buy 16kg container of feta,10,000 black olives, and 44 gallon drum of balsamic.Oh and a family size pack of shipping container toilet rolls.

Eat (drink) that much balsamic and you will need every sheet of those toilet rolls.

I saw the news article on this, I can't believe how fast they've built the warehouse itself, it's insane!

Costco is near my home and I always wonder if it is worth becoming a member?

    • I think it’s alright for families. Not so great if you live on your own or in a small apartment given much of the stock is massive bulk units that you then need to store. Not sure I always feel like I’m getting things cheaper than Aldi or on sale elsewhere, but we do like some of their produce including the meats and seafood and they have some things you can’t easily grab elsewhere.

Membership is refundable so you can sign up, have a go and if you don’t like it just refund it.

      • We are members of Costco and we don’t get the value from the groceries; but more from other things like electronics, books, a step ladder, clothing, etc. These are brand items and, especially when on discount, are well priced. Also you can return things to Costco if you aren’t happy with them. If you don’t think you are getting value they will refund the membership cost.

      • If it means I get a 65 inch OLED for under 3k I'll join.

if you buy stuff at Woolworth/Coles when its on sale or shop at Aldi then not worth it. You will save more buying when items are on sale at regular super markets but if you just buy at whatever the price is (e.g. full price toilet paper that's 50% every second week) then you will save but need to buy in bulk. The clothes and other stuff direct from the USA can be cheaper than other AU stores (mostly as not many places sell it here) but unless you plan to buy a bunch its probably not worth it to pay $60. You can always buy the membership and if its not for you get a refund on the membership. (probably look funny if you tried this more than once thought)

I find their clothes well priced particularly as they are well known brands.

The meat and fish is also great and can't even compare to colesworth.

Add in birthday cakes and other cakes for birthday parties plus good toys for xmas that others without a membership may not find elsewhere, ot makes Costco better than colesworth

    • I guess the cheap fuel at Costco will make it worth.

What the hell sort of car are you driving that Ipswich to North Lakes only takes a few minutes?

    • +11

      Delorian

    • It's not about the car, it's about how many laws your willing to break! 👍

How the hell did this get 24+ votes? I can't see any deal here….

    • Think of it as buy 12 months Costco membership get a few extra months free…..

  • no wonder its delayed…theyre just standing around scratching their balls & doing bugger all…..

  • Does the warehouse you select on sign up do anything of note or is it just one of those preferred location things?

    • Means nothing. You can go to any Costco around the world with your membership.

The only difference is you might get a second occasional email with specials/offers specific to the store you signed up to.

How do you get hold of your membership card? Is there anything to stop someone in VIC or NSW signing up and selecting Bundamba as their home store?

  • Ca you get a refund if you don't like the membership?

    • That is what they say.

      • What about if it's 6 months later and have shopped multiple times?

  • I signed up to the qld site, dropped by nearest Costco store in nsw and photographed to get a membership card but it shows the membership starts from today meaning it will expire today next year. Is it correct?

    • I live in Ipswich, after driving around the Bundamba Costco site area looking for the pop-up sign up office ( which I could not ) I finished up driving to North lakes. I signed up there.I told them I lived in Ipswich and I wanted the "Ipswich membership deal" that is my Costco membership annual membership restarted when the Ippy store actually opens, I was told Yes.
I hope I was told the right information !
If someone from Costco can reply to this post, to confirm this again, I'm sure it would help others and avoid disputes later on.
