Redeem Bonus AEG Power Tools/Accessories (RRP $99 - $358) with AEG 18V or 58V Mowers, Trimmers, Chainsaw, Drill Kit, etc

81

Just picked myself up a 58V battery lawn mower kit ($799), from Bunnings. Did the research on electric mowers and decided the AEG was a solid buy. Especially since I then looked up the AEG website and saw I'd also get a bonus 58V chainsaw skin (RRP $299) with my purchase, that will be using the same batteries from the mower kit.

I was surprised that they're not advertising the bonus offers in store at Bunnings, only on the Bunnings and AEG websites.

if you're interested in battery powered equipment (18V and 58V), there's a bunch of other deals on the AEG website - scroll down a little

I bought the 58V blower/snipper/chainsaw kit last EOFY sales, couldnt be happier. Great performance and battery life is good. Especially love the leaf blower

I hesitate to get the AEG lawnmower, some reviews complain the blade is too high up in metal body and wont cut long grass well/or cut very short - would be interested in hearing your experience

EDIT- the chainsaw is a heavy MF, dont recommend it if you have to use it for extended periods of time. Petrol powered ones weigh 1/4 less (compared it my neighbours MiniBoss)

I knew the mower had a higher blade than some liked when I bought it from a youtube review, which maybe made it somewhat harder to push over the grass. I didn't think the grass cut level was impacted too much. We don't cut our grass super short anyway as it seems to encourage a dry lawn and weeds.

I've got a choice membership too, which gave it a great score for grass cutting performance for short and long grass, and appearance of grass afterward. Maybe I'll test a patch of the lawn on the shortest setting and see what happens. Still charging the battery, so probably tomorrow.

      Some youtube reviews:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxAMIB-WD0E
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggyrRK_mwbQ (see some tall grass mowing here. This guy mentions the blade height, but is overall a quite positive review)

    • If there's a deal for the mower skin sometime, I think it would be worth it.

I like the mower plenty, cuts well, not too heavy to push, enough run time on one battery to do front and back yards. In summer it chews through long grass easily (but the catcher fills up quickly). My grassy areas are flat though YMMV.

There was a deal in June which wasn't too bad

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/382377

    For $499 you get
    - 58V 4.0AH BRUSHLESS LINE TRIMMER
    - 58V 4.0AH BRUSHLESS BLOWER KIT
    - 2x Batteries and Charger
    - Plus free Free 58V 16" BRUSHLESS CHAINSAW SKIN

I had to return the Chainsaw as the first one stopped working after the first use

    • I grabbed that back in June too. The trimmer and blower were actually a combo pack that was great value even without the free chainsaw. AEG have dropped to 58v combo now though.

How did the return go? Did you do it off the original purchase receipt or needed packing slip for the redemption item?

My chainsaw leaks oil so need to do a warranty claim, but can't find that #%@ packing slip!

      • Took the chainsaw to Bunnings and got it replaced even though its a redemption item. I registered the chainsaw on the AEG website.

  • It has been this price for months, and has been posted, and the redemption deal has been going for months.

The best deal was blower trimmer chainsaw mower 3x 58v batteries and a few chargers for $799. So basically same as what you paid but getting a brushless blower, brushless trimmer and an extra battery more than you did.

Yes, the AEG website is very clear where it says promotion period: 31/08/2018 - 31/12/2018.

Posted already? I'm a first time deal-poster. Maybe you could provide a link as I did a search and couldn't find anything on the current promotion.

Your referenced deal sounds insanely good. I'm curious if it was the 58V stuff or 18V, if you have the link?

The only previous deal for the mower I found on ozbargain was: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/357498 - EXPIRED:
AEG Cordless 58V Mower (RRP $799), 2x4ah Batteries, Charger & Line Trimmer (RRP $350) Price $760 (Membership Required) @ Bunnings - Total extra value $389.
      - which is obviously a better deal in terms of value at $89 extra value over the deal I got ($799 mower kit + extra value $299 chainsaw), if you wanted a trimmer that is.

The only other AEG MOWER deal on this site was for the 18V not the 58V.

IIRC the really good AEG 58v deal was mentioned only in comments of another AEG post (maybe because it was no longer available at the time). Powerpass required and I think stumo might be exaggerating what was included. Happy to be proven wrong.

I don’t think your post deserved a neg, at least not without better substantiation.

It was actually the mower blower trimmer and chainsaw 2 batts and a charger $870. An absolute bargain. I’m happy with the aeg gear esp the trimmer and mower

      • Thanks for clarifying. I couldn't find the posts but I was pretty sure stumo was exaggerating to the tune of at least 1 battery and a couple of chargers.

  • Aeg promos are running all the time. Bought all my tools this way.
Personally I went with the Victa 82v range outdoor equipment. It just felt a bit better and slightly cheaper.

  • I find AEG battery tools, particularly it's mower, overpriced for their worth. Sort of like Nike vs everyone else.

  • I was eyeing these deals but since AEG have sales like this all the time, I might wait until the next promotion.

Sad they seem to have discontinued the 58v blower trimmer kit and only have the 18v at Bunnings.

The 58V blower trimmer kit was always meant to be a promotional item.

It was great value last time at $499 (I wonder if it was a clearance price) with the chainsaw.

This time, even if you sell the chainsaw skin on Gumtree (street price $200), both the mower ($599) and trimmer kits ($399) are merely overpriced. Still better than being extremely overpriced I guess.

  • Just a heads up to anyone buying the AEG gear. Make sure you register you stuff with AEG within 1 month of purchase to get the extended warranty, otherwise you'll only get 3yr tool and 1yr batt.

I registered all my stuff (blower/trimmer combo) straight away but forgot to do the free chainsaw :(
