Quiet Shield. How's that work then? Sounds like more stuff to clean.

Doesn't state that it's removable, you'd clean it like the rest of the kettle's internal parts. That's by regularly boiling a vinegar/water solution.

Yeah, I ordered one. Stupid Kogan Smart Glass kettle is spazzing out and the lid button is half rooted after maybe six months. The sunny should be vastly superior.

      • My other kettle broke after boiling vinegar.

        • Why boil the vinegar?
Mrs. Stingybritches pours vinegar into the kettle, then leaves it for an hour or so, pours out the vinegar (and gunk) then fills the kettle with water, boils it, then throws out the boiled water onto any weeds in the garden. Simples.

@StingyBritches: Just chuck half a teaspoon of citric acid in with a few cups of water and let it come to the boil. If you have a glass kettle watching the process is just magic - the black boil marks disappear (as if by magic!), give the kettle a swirl and a rinse and they come out looking like new.

Thank you. Have been waiting for a kettle deal for some time.

  • Not great reviews on the likes of the productreview site (I know, I know), but hey at this price a good find OP and probably worth a shot.
Edit: Looks like it's no longer available, so I guess I won't truly find out for myself, at least not this time :)

  • This thing is anything but quiet. There appears to be a flat colander type device near the bottom of the kettle with Sunbeam Quiet Shield printed on it. It is not removable. At $33 its a good deal. I think i paid $69 about 4 months ago.

    • It's quiet compared to their loud one

  • Gone…all gonee

  • Was just thinking this morning how robust our old sunbeam kettle has been. I must have had it for near on 15 years. Got it with a sunbeam toaster and kettle pack. In the same time period my parents must have had 5 kettles and probably 3 toasters. Don’t think I’ve ever cleaned inside the kettle although our water doesn’t have much calcium.

  • Hi OP, thanks for the post, please let us know if you see more "quiet" kettles, please let us know (PS, there are a lot of shift workers here). Thank you
