HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw (w/ Wi-Fi, Eprint, AirPrint, Ethernet) - $218.00 at Officeworks

140

Spotted at Officeworks in Clarence St, Sydney CBD. The label on the shelf suggests this is the non-networked CP1525, however, it's actually the CP1525NW which is on offer.

Four left in stock at Clarence St as at 10.30am today. According to the Officeworks SAP stock management system (generously demo'd for me by a bored staff member ;-), most NSW stores have one or two available with more being delivered this week by HP.

Lots of reviews about, including unboxings/demos on YouTube, so I won't bore you with the details of the printer itself.

At $218.00 I reckon it's the cheapest colour laser compatible with full networking, including WiFI; AirPrint (for iPads, iPhones etc); ePrint (accepts print jobs via email etc); and ethernet. Uses separate CMYK toner cartridges which can be refilled/reset with aftermarket toner kits (have a look at eBay).

RRP $399.00

  • Like the sound of AirPrint and eprint but still prefer to buy a fuji xerox cp205w.

Dpi is 1200 x 2400 rather than This printer 600x 600. Price is $230 and. It is an SLED :)

    • I've hard of WLED and RGB LED, but what's SLED?

    • Hmm… CP205W says it has "wireless printing capability" but doesn't appear to have WiFi? Does it have wifi or not?

      • okay I found the manual, the w model does have 802.11b/g/n

  • +2

    wow this has awesome features

  • Except the print from email k cannot see anything else or am I missing something?
I am after a wireless colour laser and like mochaelz pointed out the fujiXerox look like a better model.

Where do we get it for 230 by the way? Is that just staticice search?

  • Anyone know what the toner replacement costs for this unit, and if possible to use aftermarket toner? one thing I like Brother brand is that their toner only about $50-is for something like 5000 pages (black), where HP is over $100. Thanks

    • Per the original posting: Uses separate CMYK toner cartridges which can be refilled/reset with aftermarket toner kits (have a look at eBay).

  • Went down and bought one and am very impressed so far, great printer!

AirPrint requires the firmware update, but it is very painless to install this update - just install it from HP's website.

    • +1

forgot to mention, if you're planning on going and buying one, bring some muscle as it's bloody heavy!

      • Bought one today also, very impressed, it's a very good printer.

It is heavy, but as I discovered afterwards, the box actually has handles about 1/3 from the bottom when standing vertically. Just need to push them in to the box.

    • Where did you download the firmware?

  • Thanks to the OP. Bought one as well. Heaps of features and cheaper than any of the other dodgy brands. Very solid build as well.

  • Looks good, except I need more paper handling and duplex.

  • I've alway used HP printers. I still have Laserjet 4L, 5M, PSC G55 in good functioning order. About 18 months ago, I bought a HP Officejet 6500 wireless printer. less than 3 weeks ago, the power box (ie the silly looking black box on the power cord) blew. When I called up HP support to see what's happened with the printer, the first thing they said was your printer is out of warranty and the warranty is only for 1 year. This was extremely disappointing and annoying. I've always used HP printers, and I've always had great experience with HP printers. But after this recent power box fiasco, I am really sceptical about future HP build……… This deal appears to be valid for officeworks online….. and this printer looks good….. but I am wary about the printer breaking down after 1 year….
