  • Board games?

    • Jacked up Bored Games!

      • Oh this stuff gets jacked as well?

        • There's jacking for sure but isn't always the prices.

Would someone think of the children!!!!

hobby warehouse seems to be selling games - I found codenames, catan, cards against humanity, exploding kittens, Exit games, Santorini, Pandemic amongst many Monopoly, Risk, Cluedo versions. But all very expensive and even after the 20% off I think you will be able to buy cheaper elsewhere (check boardgamesearch.com.au)

        Great thanks!
New house and hoping to start my board game collection!

        Recommendations?

        • Queendomino and Sushi Go Party both great fun!

        • +2

Depends highly on what you like, how many people are playing, how 'heavy' the strategy you are after, and who you'll be playing with. I highly recommend playing games with your friends who already own them for a bit to decide what you like before buying (or visiting a board game cafe, or joining a board game group). For light party games (6+ people), Sushi Go Party, Codenames [this one is quite casual], or a 'betrayer'-type one like Resistance, Secret Hitler. For "gateway" games suitable to play with 2-4 casual board game friends (strategic but not too heavy in strategy or long, easy to teach & learn), something like Century Spice Road, Splendor, Ticket to Ride, Catan, Carcassone. If you have a larger group, Alhambra(up to 6 players) or 7 Wonders (up to 7 players; I enjoy 7 Wonders but I don't think it is suitable to introduce to friends with no board game experience, while the others I think are easy enough to pick up having no experience). Or if you like deck builders, I enjoy Dominion. For cooperative games generally 2-4 players, Forbidden Desert or Pandemic (I prefer the former, easier to teach and looks great). For more think-y games, you'll have to select something that works well with your group. I've only mentioned personal favourites and fairly mainstream suggestions here, there are many many many other options! Maybe pick a few, visit a board game cafe and give them a whirl to see if you like them or watch a review video. Another great place to start is to browse amongst Spiel des Jahres nominees and winners (https://boardgamegeek.com/wiki/page/Spiel_des_Jahres) as these tend to be easy to learn and teach, light to medium strategy, and generally widely enjoyed games.

      • Not many available in this promo, but Pandemic is a MUST have. Great co-op game for 2-4 players. Highly ranked on boardgamegeek.

I found boardgamesearch useful until i come across OzGameFiner. Many more stores included (such as Amazon and Cubox mentioned below). Better filter options and i feel like its faster too. Just my 2 cents :)

        • Link broken, is it ozgamefinder.com?

          • @swapsey: O yes it is - sorry.
…aaaannnd i cant Finder, going well.

        • didn't know about this site, thanks!

    • Cubox.com.au

Not a part of boardgamesearch and generally really good prices.

      • Thanks will look into them!

      • Any recommendations on games?

        • What do you like? Scythe is my favourite right now, but I generally only buy games that can be played single player. Some people really need a nice feeling game and don't care about the mechanics much, while others are only interested in good game play. How many people will you be playing with, do they like complicated games, how long do you want to be playing? If you're wanting to get into more complicated board games, it might be better to check out a local gaming group to learn what kinds of games you like before you spend 100 dollars on something that might just sit. Some of them will let you borrow club games as well.

          http://www.boardgamesaustralia.org.au/play/game-groups/

Or you can be like me and just buy everything that's highly rated on boardgamegeek, though I also go to a gaming group.

search link. I can't set multiple categories, so you'll have to check whether the item you're interested in is in the eligible category.

    Thanks OP.

  • MetroHobbies used to be in these sales few months back and have had some great deals with them. Now seems like they have opted out of these sales.

  • Millennium Falcon LEGO 75192 $975 $0.75 more than the previous DJ sale.

  • meh

  • Wherever i click a category it takes me to the eBay homepage, how do i see the products?

    • +2

I find it easier to google the specific ebay store and then search the store from the Ebay store home page. It won't allow you to search across all participating stores obviously, but it's a bit easier if you're after something specific.
