  Blaupunkt used to be a half decent speaker brand back from when I worked in a car audio store about 15years ago. I had no idea they made tv's. Have they turned cheap and nasty though? Why is this so incredibly cheap? Can anyone who owns it comment on picture quality and its specs?

  A worthy post given the price…..But as an owner who just returned this exact panel for a refund yesterday, I can only caution everyone to steer well clear of this tv.

  The model number is BP5000AU9000

  The principle issue with the TV is that it can not cope with a 4k hdmi input (the image would be lost or go green) . This was the reason the online retailer I purchased it from is refunding all its customers and no longer selling blaupunkt.

  Notwidstanding that, it's a very cheap TN panel (horrible when viewed from the side) with dreadfully patchy back lighting.

  Unfortunately this is just a very very cheap Chinese TV with a Blaupunkt sticker on the front. For those old enough to remember Blaupunkt (which used to be premium brand) , well that is no more. It's now just a marketing company that rebrands generic Chinese products.

  Other things I hated about this TV….. Cheap and nasty remote, horrible gui, no chrome cast built in, not play store compatible, the TV frequently had to be turned off at the power point to get the TV channels to display. All skin tones had a dreadful purplish hue.

  Pros : slim bezel.

  I replaced it with a TCL TV which is 100 times better in every area.

    I seem to remember a mate's parents had a Blaupunkt colour TV back in the early 80's.
