  • E480 vs E485? Anyone know which holds up better? (same with 500 series)

    • Graphics performance rank would be: Intel + RX550 > Ryzen 5 / 7 integrated > Intel integrated
      General performance quite similar AFAIK.
Intel wins easily in battery life.
Linux support for Ryzens is immature at best, E 480 / 580 Intels appear to be quite compatible.

      • thank goodness. I had a feeling when I bought it a couple days ago but couldn't find many comparisons out there.

      • I kind of wish however that the E580 had a better screen. would you say the number pad is important for any coding work?

        • i have e570, with numberpad, i use it a lot. Not so much coding but just banging in numbers generally. It's a big laptop, sometimes i have doubts, maybe i should have got 470… If you've already trained yourself to use and have muscle memory of a numeric keypad, then, yeah, you'll probaly miss it.

        • +1

numpad is essential for me as I am using Revit, I need to type lots of numbers.

          • @wen87n: Yeah, numpad is essential for people that use it constantly but for those who don't, even though you may have the fear of giving it up, it won't affect you that much especially as the trade off is more portability and higher pixel density. I wouldn't be able to stand seeing pixels - it's 2018 come on!
