What a rubbish account. $5 monthly service fee, overseas transaction fees, no interest payable. They're simply hoping you'll sign up for the $50, and forget to close it before the fees eat up the "bonus".
Even in the middle of the Royal Commission, they - the Big 4 - still just.don't.get.it
Just get a Macquarie or ING savings account and ignore this rubbish.

Ignore? No, take advantage and make another $50!

      • less two atleast 2 months of fees @ $5 pm, plus the hassle of opening and closing, no thanks.

        • No monthly account fee if you deposit at least $2,000 each month (other fees may apply).

All in all it'll probably take me 5-10 mins to get $50. Definitely worth it in my books.

    • This is still better than waiting for a ebay 20% discount code and force yourself to buy $250 things that you don't need.

      • Unless you die and they keep charging you fees.

Please amend title to reflect the minimum age of 12 !

Thought I would open an account for our little one, but she's under 12. So no can do.

  • My personal 2c
Tried to open an account for my son for the companion math program- mathspace
    Website said too easy
After racking my brains found out he has to be at least 12 to do so online

No information on how to go about it if under 12

Called customer service- no worries just go to your closest branch with your son and documents- too easy (infact that was precisely how I opened an account for him at the CW bank)

Went to the local branch with my son only to be told you need to make an appointment first. No such info online or through customer service.

Told the lady at the counter I wish I was told that I needed an appointment- she said tough. Then told me I must be doing something wrong as she opened an account for her 9 year old online only last week

Went home and signed up for Mathletics instead

So tried to give my money to Westpac online- they said no

Tried in person to give them my money- they said make an appointment!

  • Does that include people who are 25?
