From what I have read for similar adapters, you will need to use the genuine Nintendo 15v charger otherwise the Switch battery will slowly deplete while playing.

I've got one of these for my computer. Works great for that [don't have a switch), but pretty standard pricing from eBay… Got mine months ago for ~$10.
That's what I'm thinking of, getting one these for my MBP to chuck into my bag for that odd occasion when I need one while roaming.
Same here. I used one for my little dell laptop and it works fine. It doesn't do pass through charging though (can't plug the charger into the USB-C port on the adapter to charge the device).
Hmm, odd. Mine charges my acer spin 7. Might depend on the required wattage. Mine is only 45W. I think a lot of Dells are generally 65W+.
Mine is a low power one, 45w sounds right. It doesn't bother me as the dell has two USB-C ports and you can charge on both, so I just plug the charger into one and this converter into the other.

Nor is OP's item a dock, it's an adaptor.
I wouldn't bother, I ordered two USB C to HDMI adapters, one on the 16th of August and another on the 23rd August. Neither have arrived. Zapals just keep providing me with a tracking number that doesn't work on any tracking site. Have ordered other items from AliExpress and they arrived no problems. Will personally never order anything from Zapals.

Could be worse. I ordered some Anker headphones from Amazon (Anker AU Store) in February. I then forgot that I ordered them. They arrived on Friday, almost 8 months to the day after I ordered them.

This is a generic one. Many places sell exactly the same unit.

I did not use it with the Switch. I used it with my Galaxy Tab Pro S which charges via USB C and has a single USB C port. You can't charge through the adapter. The genuine one from Samsung which is a rip off in price does support charging.
If you plug your charger into this adapter and this adapter into the Tab, it does not charge the tab. If you do that with the genuine Samsung one, it does charge the Tab. I would assume the Switch is the same deal but haven't tried it.
This is good to use for added USB ports and HDMI. The price is fair. Just don't buy it if you want to charge the device at the same time you're using it.
I have one of these adapter, I use it on my Note9 for dex and it supports usb c passthrough charging. I think only some devices doesn't support the passthrough. I tried it on my laptop (HP Spectre x360) and it supports passthrough charging with this adapter.
Compatible with what? Not all usbc->hdmi are the same.
looks like the mod removed my [Switch] label at the front… not sure why :(
Not sure if you will get HDMI out through it for the Switch. It might work, since the Dock is supposedly very basic. Someone will need to test it.
I have one that looks the same. HDMI Works fine on a laptop. The USB3.0 or USB C port won't power my external portable drive. Works fine with USB sticks though.
