$1 Final Value Fees Every Saturday and Sunday @ eBay

571

Popped up on my eBay so not sure it it's targeted or not.

The promotion runs from 00:00 (AEST) every Saturday to 23.59 (AEST) every Sunday, for as long as the promotion is offered by eBay and advertised on www.ebay.com.au and via email (“Promotion Period”). eBay reserves the right to cancel the promotion at any time.
Items must be listed and available for purchase by 23:59 (AEST) on Sunday in order to qualify for the promotion.

Pay a maximum of $1 in Final Value Fees for any items you list and make available for purchase in a single category during the Promotion Period (see exclusions below).
Final Value Fees are the selling fees charged on sale of an item, calculated as a percentage of your total sale price. The promotion does not apply to fees for optional features or upgrades or any other fees that may be applicable. Learn more about eBay fees.
All www.ebay.com.au members are eligible to participate in this offer.

This offer applies to listings in Auction-style or Fixed Price format, but does not apply to listings in Classified Ad format.

Listings that contravene eBay's policies or do not otherwise comply with all of these Terms and Conditions are excluded.

  • Targeted..

It always is and I'm never invited.

    • You have to allow email promos to be targeted.

      • Where to turn this on?

      • I get notified by ozbargain, then I check if got the promo offer by logging into ebay and checking the "all selling" page. No emails involved.

    • I started getting them after I didn't use ebay for ~6 months (aliexpress is cheaper for most things).

Sorry if it might be obvious already but does this mean you only get to pay $1 ONLY and ONLY if the sale is made on a weekend? So if you left your listing active on a weekday and it sells, you need to pay the full fee?

    • +1

No. You just have to list on the weekend, then it can sell any day and you’ll be charged $1.

      • That's a relief. Thanks!

          Username checks out.

      • Isn't PayPal also charging you 3% or something like that of the final sale price?

    • plus GST

  • TARGETED!!!!

  • So does ebay still charge you the listing fees?

    • Listing is free unless you select all the useless extras

How is this a deal/bargain? Are there other ebay sites?

    • +1

You've been a member here for 6 years and haven't posted a single deal?

    • +2

It's a deal because if you list on ebay and don't activate this offer, you could unnecessarily spend up to $100 in listing fees.

      • Upwards of $100

I thought it was available to all. I have been getting this for months

  • +1

    I get this every week

  • +1

    Nope. "Unfortunately.."

    Same shit every time.

I sold three items recently with the eBay free value and insertion fees.

Each time got a $17-20 fee within two weeks and each time had to contact their chat to clear the fees.

They’re systems are bloody hopeless. I bet plenty of people just pay away.

    • They are systems are bloody hopeless. Sounds funny doesn't it?

    • Yep, I had exactly the same issue. Mind you, it wasn't easy to get them to agree to refund the cost (I have automatically billing via paypal).

    • Same issue I honestly have to contact them every time and they waive it. It's a pain.

    • They’re systems are bloody hopeless

Oh yeah I'm sure that's why they manage to keep (profanity) up losing money, it's the hopeless systems.

Interestingly the systems manage to work almost all the time if it's an operation that doesn't involve eBay losing money.

Did you edit the listing? Or was it automatically edited to allow for offers or any other changes?

Any amendments after the initial listing, even if the edit was done on the weekend, loses the promotion.

  • Geez, looks like a few people got triggered….

  • I've had this every week for all but a couple of weekends this year.

  • I tried to list something last night - but it would not let me unless I chose PayPal as a payment method - but I could not see this listed as a condition :(

Weekend listing is the only way I sell. Works every time for me.
Just have to know the way it works.
    - Don't edit the ad once it's up. Remove the ad and relist it within the weekend promotion time if you have to edit it.
    - Don't use mobile to list because mobile listings get "best offers" automatically added, and this change loses the promotion.
-Dont accept or offer the new message "offers" system because this loses the the promotion

    • Do you lose the weekend promotion if you edit the ad (say i want to change the ad price)? Thanks

      • Yes. You'll have to wait for the weekend. Accept the promotion, end the ad and then relist with the promotion

To add to the above. The promotion also expires when the ad is automatically relisted. Which as of a few weeks ago is every 30days

      • NO YOU DONT LOSE. EDIT ANYTIME YOU WANT, NO FEE ADDED. Mind you that Auction item is limited to be edited (basically you can't) but Buy it now with offer listing, you can edit nearly everything you want without any fee.

Only if you relist item, the fee will be charged if the time of relist you had no promotion

  • Don't really think it is worthwhile posting this. It's quite regular so I normally try to list items on weekends.
Just don't want to see this being posted every weekend that's all.

  • This now shows as expired to me.

I have a feeling that the link that was posted on this post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/433104 may have been for a different link (different promo code?) for the same ongoing deal.

    • Same. I went from always receiving these offers on one of my accounts to always getting “Unfortunately, you can no longer sign up for this promotional offer because it has expired.”

  • I was surprised that there was no Australia Day sale for eBay, guess they really don't give a f about the Australian market…
