This stuff is bloody brilliant on concrete floors and pesky oil stains. Spray on liberally, leave for 10 minutes, and wipe away with rag.

  • You can never have enough of this stuff.

I love this stuff it's also works great for lubrication in the bedroom.

That joke doesn't really work when the product is a degreaser.

  • Is this ok for this for cleaning a bike drivetrain?

    • yes but i'd recommend using a lubricant after cleaning, put the bike upside down and spin the wheel slowly and lube the chain with wd40.

      • +4

WD40's not great, since it's mostly degreaser itself. Specific bike lube would be better, but engine lubricants etc. work well enough anyway.
Make sure you give it a good wash after degreasing, if any sticks around, it'll eat into any lube you put on after it.

        • I soak my bike chains in a salsa jar with a bit of diesel. You only need about 100 ml of fuel. Diesel is self lubricating. The problem with most degreasers is properly lubricating the chain links afterwards. I put some chain lube on afterwards.

Note that it helps if you have a removable quick link to get the chain off and back on.

I don't put WD40 anywhere near my bike.

@HKS Mate, WD40 is not designed for that. Get a proper chain lube. WD40 is designed primarily as a moisture inhibiter and protector. Also very viscous so its good for letting it soak and getting rusted nuts loose etc. It has no friction/heat protection that a moving chain would require.

WD40 definitely has its uses, but it should never be used in mechanical moving parts. Unsticking a hinge or something, fine. But not in machinery.

      • Turned the bike upside down but all the oil and petrol leaked out

Wd40 is good for cleaning chains and then follow up with a decent lube product
