So in theory, you can use this on top of other discounts?

    • +1

      Yes.

    • +6

Terms and conditions state: No more than a total of $2000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per day, and no more than a total of $5000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per calendar month. Further, you may only redeem a maximum of eight Gift Cards in any single transaction (and fewer if you are redeeming Gift Cards in combination with other redemption codes, such as coupons or vouchers).

What does the part in brackets mean?

      • +8

Meaning that normal coupon codes like PLUG5 et cetera counts towards the limits of 8.

        • Ah yep was just about to type this.

        • +1

Meaning you can use 7 gift cards and one coupon code?

        • +1

          @Jorkus:

Theoretically speaking, yes. I haven't tested it myself nor have I read anyone stating the coupon code takes up the 'slots' for entering a giftcard

        • +31

I've used 15 x $100 gift cards + coupon code earlier this week if you need a data point.

        • +1

          @Jorkus:

Not sure if this helps however I just used 6 gift cards @ $200 each + the promo code on todays Note 9 deal. I then went and separately purchased a case and films and it showed my remaining credit on the last gift card used (still had about $35 left)

        • @JDogman:

wow 15! Great to know .. always thought it would be around the 6-8 max mark. Maybe as mentioned above it is the total overall value of gift cards.

        • @vapingwinnieblues: try checking the balance on all 6 gift cards

        • @vapingwinnieblues: sounds like your 6 gift cards was under the limit of 8 per transaction so don't see any issues with that to begin with

        • @JDogman: Was that one a single item in a single transaction? I'm thinking of making a purchase for $1600 so ideally i'll need to use 16x $100 in one go.

        • +3

@Jorkus: The deal is for 5 cards max. But you can purchase through other accounts.

        • +2

@Jorkus: I bought something from the BingLee sale so it capped me out at 15 x $100 gift cards, the item cost something like $1650ish.

        • @JDogman:
Was it in a single transaction?

        • +3

          @Joe888: Yep

        • +2

          @JDogman:

          same here

have tested this theory mutliple times, and each time its 15 cards max

and the maximum per month seems to be randomly applied

        • @hellohello123: have you used multiple accounts to buy the cards before? I ask because if I want more than 5 I want to make sure they're not tied to the account that bought them ie I can take 10 of them and put them all on a single transaction on one account.

        • @Jorkus:
to be honest, ive never bought this deal before, but i will buy today,
I was referring to gift cards that can be purchased at the supermarkets

        • I have used 14 cards in one transaction before, plus a discount code on top. 15 in total if the card takes a slot.

        • -1

@JDogman: being a sceptical kinda guy, is there any way you can back up this claim? seeing as the t&c's seem to state a max of 8 (or 7 + coupon)..
I would really appreciate any kind of confirmation, because I plan on building a new PC early next year and if i can use more than 8 I will buy more with my partners account.

        • +4

@lyle88: How would I benefit from lying about this?
It's the internet I guess, so you either have to a little faith that I am a nice person who wants to help others out or assume I am a troll…

        • +1

@JDogman: hmmm.. well i've already got 5 so ill sleep on it and if this is active tomorrow morning ill decide then. i appreciate the fact you're trying to provide additional info here though

        • +1

          @lyle88:

          Fyi. Jdogman is Mr giftcards

        • +1

@JDogman: I decided to go out of my comfort zone and put my faith in the hands of Mr gift cards. Cheers for pushing me over the line JDogman. This will save me a bunch later in the year 👍

        • +2

          @JDogman: 2nd this , just used 10 x $100 gift cards + coupon code and it worked.

        • @rc681: Same. 10 x $100 gift cards plus 20% off coupon.

        • Why am I getting this error all the time, "This offer could not be applied".

    • Don’t most discounts require PayPal payment?

      • No, not nowdays, used to. but now ebay will be using ayden in future they apply the codes themselves.

        • Sweeeeeeeet! 😁

        • @UberIsCool: HOWEVER, this one will require PayPal

    • So in theory, Amazon going to sell their egift cards for 10% off soon?

  • +29

    Finally 10% off everything

    • +31

Good if you’re buying real estate.

      • -1

        Why? That's an odd comment..

  • Great stuff TA. Any expiry dates on these cards?

  • Thanks TA. wonder if they will make the $200 available during the day

    • +2

Just buy 2 of these, problem solved.

      • +1

        Coupon limit…

        • The title says - 5 Cards Max.

        • @WatchNerd: sorry coupon limit I meant when you go use them. If buying something over $1000 and then you want to use your GC and a promo coupon it might restrict you if you have $100 ones compared to $200 ones.

      • -4

        No if i want 5 of $200

        • Max discount is $50, so you wouldn't save any more buying 200s.

  • +6

Does the entire gift card have to be used in one transaction?

      • Is there an expiry date/time limit to use card by?

        • +1

eBay Gift Cards expire 3 years after the date of issue. Some eBay Gift Cards may refer to a 1 year expiry term, however, from 31 March 2018, all eBay Gift Cards will have a 3 year expiry term regardless of the expiry term stated on the card.

  • +1

Do ebay gift cards allow partial usage or do they need to be fully used in the transaction?

    • +6

can be used partially but has to be the same account.

  • -1

Just checking to confirm, can a single card be used on multiple separate purchases?

Edit: Whoops, two people asked the same thing as me while I was typing it.

  • Hope I can pay with ebay giftcards that I already have.. that would be awesome 20% off everything on top of eBay coupons!!!

    • +7

Nah, it doesn't work (tried it).

      • Really! Got so excited! I've stash of ebay GC bought at woolies couple of weeks ago.
        Didn't neg you though

  • Brings the QC35's to ~$270

    My bad, QC35's sold out.

  • Would these also work with cash back via ShopBack/Cashrewards?

    • I'm not sure but i don't think so

    • +1

      Yep, they should

      • +3

You'll get cashback on purchases you make with the gift cards, but you won't get any cashback for buying the gift cards

        • +1

Otherwise it'd double your cashbacks. You'd get 1% on purchasing the gift cards, then another 1% when purchasing from ebay with the cards.

    • Interested to know as well - whether cashrewards sees the pre-gift card amount or just the balance.

    • +1

      TA can you confirm this?

    • It's only 1% anyway. 1% of $500 is $5. I no longer even bother with cashback on ebay unless there is some super sized cashback deal going on. It's not worth the hassle given that I have to chase it up half the time.

  • can a gift card be used multiple times for transactions?

    • yes. see above comments

  • +2
    • Card can be used on multiple purchases.
    • No more than a total of $2000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per day, and no more than a total of $5000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per calendar month.

    • You may only redeem a maximum of eight Gift Cards in any single transaction (and fewer if you are redeeming Gift Cards in combination with other redemption codes, such as coupons or vouchers).

multiple people have reported using 8 gift cards + 1 coupon code.

  • +6

@TA, any Cashrewards Cashback % increase for eBay Bday party, please? 3.5% or more will be awesome

    • I don't think he'll be revealing that to anyone!

      • +2

give him some babi guling maybe he will

        • Bribe him with some ebay gift cards.

      • We’re not anyone though 😁

      • @chibot, we don't need him to reveal,.. he'll just kindly post it on Ozbargain a bit later or like what he does normally 8pm-12pm deal ;)

    • It's never good enough, is it?

      • are you ozbargainer?

      • +1

c'mon ..it's a PARTY they called,.. the MORE (discounts, in this case) the MERRIER

  • +2

Anyone tried buying gold bullion/coins with ebay gift cards?

    • these are usually excluded right. cars, boats and houses.

    • +1

The Gift Card also may not be used to buy eBay Gift Cards, third party gift cards, gift certificates, coupons, coins, paper money, virtual currency, or items generally considered to be "bullion" (for example, gold, silver, and other precious metals in the form of coins, bars, or ingots). More info here :https://pages2.ebay.com.au/ebay-gift-cards-terms-conditions

      • +2

        Damn. There goes that idea.

      • +5

ebay has something against coin collectors.

  • +6

The only prob with giftcards is there's no paypal protection. Also, people have reported previously that, refunds aren't possible. Although i doubt that's legal if the order is cancelled.

    • +2

You can use paypal, will just appear as a $0 transaction with all the funds payed with 'voucher'. Any refund will go back into the gift card which will be in your account

    • +1

no paypal protection, but you get eBay protection. refunds ARE possible.

      • eBay Guarantee requires PayPal.

    • Well yeah, why would Paypal cover you for a payment you didn't make through them? That's like saying AAMI covering your Allianz home insurance policy

      • +2

yeah of course, but people don't think of that when buying, hence my comment.
If I was buying from a decent seller like GoodGuys, I'd use a giftcard, but if you're buying from an unknown seller, then maybe don't use giftcards if you're spending lots, as you don't have the protection

  • +1

What’s the eta from buying until getting the code?

    • +1

few hours on the previous ebay uk promotion.

    • +2

Times may vary from instantly to a few hours.

  • +4

For anyone wondering, you can't use Gift Cards to purchase additional Gift Cards.

There are limits on redeeming eBay Gift Cards, including time and spending threshold limits. Additionally, eBay Gift Cards may not be used to buy other eBay Gift Cards, third party gift cards, gift certificates, coupons, coins, paper money, virtual currency, or items generally considered to be "bullion" (for example, gold, silver, and other precious metals in the form of coins, bars, or ingots).

    • haha, I didn't even think of this

    • Confirmed cannot use.

  • -4

So I can use the 15% ebay plus discount then pay using this discounted gift card?

    • +2

'PLUSIT15' has expired, but you can use Gift Card to pay for coupon discounted items.
