  • +1

just by reading the code, my wallet feels the pain already

    • +2

I read the code and got a back ache.

  • -1

20 min left for price jacking 👆

  • +4

Thanks for pointing this deal out!

  • +2

Lol @ raising the minimum spend and keeping the percentage off the same.

    • +3

On the plus side, max discount has increased.

  • +9

Should I wait for the possibility of a higher ebay birthday discount…Seems like the recent 10% and 15% discounts are to entice us to spend all we have right now instead of holding out for a possible birthday discount

    • +1

      i knoooow.. what a dilemma..

    • +9

Yep I’m definitely waiting for the birthday code. Even if it’s 15%. It’s only 2 days away.

      • +6

        It's 2 days away?
I'd better get my ebay cart lubed up ready to go!

      • +6

        +1 i'll wait as well.
even if no better deal on ebay birthday, more saving for not spending.

    • +2

Same here, nothing urgent to buy, so will wait till Friday to see if bigger birthday discount code.

  • Incoming +400 upvotes and minimal (if any) actual BARGAINS.

    • +5

Well it's not like I'm allowed to post all those auctions and less than 10 quantity deals on OzBargain anyway. Besides you'll find bargains on a sitewide sale easily if you know how to search properly.

      • +5

Some people need to be spoon-fed

        • +13

I think they'd struggle to find a spoon on ebay to be honest.

        • +2

@Clear: Cld u pls link me to the cheapest spoon on eBay? Thx

        • +1

          @Clear:

I think they'd struggle to find a spoon on ebay to be honest.

          There is no spoon. :)

        • +4

You can save a dollar or two occasionally on these eBay deals

For you but not everyone else. Maximum saving you can get is $300 and people have previously saved $100 easily.

        • @Clear:

          Thanks for clearing that up.

        • Looking at the figures I would say currently over 290 people disagree with you and 0 agree

  • -1

this seems be coming up on a weekly bases now

    • -1

Yep. But alot of sellers taking advantage by jacking prices by 10%.

      • +4

You're clearly shopping at the wrong stores (like TGG) if you're experiencing price jacking in a sitewide sale. I always score heaps of bargains in auctions and <10 quantity deals.

    • I actually have a sneaky suspicion/feeling eBay has gets some favors with Ozbargain. Amazon seems to get a bashing. I'm not a fan of either but just an observation.

      • +4

Amazon is a different ball game

They use technologies that monitor buying patterns and slowly penetrate the market. This is why we have amazon Prime free shipping with no minimum spend. Their outlook is on the long term and trust me when I say that Amazon will be the number one e-commerce site in Australia in the near future

        • +4

I believe that also, eBay has lost its mojo, massively. They really need to monitor the price jacking because their 10-20% sitewide 'deals' are just becoming silly and losing value. I just ignore them because you rarely get BARGAIN.

        • Unless they can keep major retailers onboard, eBay will eventually end up being the discount junk store of the internet.

        • I trust you coz they are evil.

      • +2

I have a sneaky suspicion you're not that tight.

  • My last 10% purchases through ebay disappeared after the paypal payment went through to all the sellers. I'd recommend caution before loading up a basket with multiple items to take advantage of this as it takes a huge amount of time trying to recover funds.

    • can you clarify what you meant by disappeared? thanks

      • I believe he means the discount wasn't applied and he was charged full price.

      • The discount was applied but Ebay lost all record of the purchases. I'm not sure how or why as their support isn't overly supportive. One item did have the price jacked afterwards, perhaps that seller caused the issue?

  • +4

Not sure why people complain about price jacking… it's 10% off the whole site! Not everyone price jacks.

  • The 10% sitewide will soon become the normal 20% ebay discount.

    • +4

Actually with GST and price jacking the 10% off site wide is the new 0% discount

      • +2

Not if you buy from Australia

        • +1

Short-term thinking. Almost nothing is made in Australia. Once everything imported pre-Harvey Norman tax is sold, worn out and gone, everything will have the tax adjusted price indirectly included.

the cheapest price for kindle oasis on ebay? Willing to use this code.

    • +7

      Search?

      • Thanks mate I did try. But looks like only kindle covers are coming up and only showing one seller selling Kindle oasis.. EBay search isnt that effective for some items. So thought I'd ask.

        • -2

Oh well, if you have already searched and that's all you can find on eBay, I guess that's your only choice.

    • Damn didn't read officeworks is excluded. Looks like I'll have to give it a pass.

      • Officeworks always never take part in these promotions.

  • Aren't we assuming we'll get 19% off in 2 days anyway?

  • +2

    Birthday sale this Friday.

Any word on the offer? 19% off site wide would obviously flow from last years pffer.

  • +6

Thanks TA, any chance to up the cash back to 3% again? :)

    • +1

Yes please TA, maybe 5% this time? :P

      • Yes please TA, maybe 100% this time? :p

        • +1

the true penny pincher! thumbs up.. =)
u should have asked for 98% instead of 100 to reflect your username

        • @babiguling: haha yeah I should've - might have more chance that way! =D

    • Fyi, If you pay by eBay gift card you wont get the cash rewards anymore.

      • Really? When did they change this?

        • No idea..
          I only found out yesterday.
May be @tightarse can clarify this.

  • Does this stack with plenty15 for ebay plus?

    • +2

      eBay codes never stacks unfortunately

      • gee.. what a question. imagine if stacked, then we can combine many code to get 90% off.
        happy?

    • Stacks with gift cards though :)

  • Sorry if this has been asked before, but does this stack with Cashrewards?

    • -2

Just checked because I was wondering myself…. yep!

  • is this targeted? nothing seen on my ebay home page or emails

    • same. its 10 o clock already, log out log back in, nothing. ebay summary, nothing

      • I don't see anything under the summary tab but the code works for me nevertheless. Try directly entering the code during checkout.

      • Is eBay pranking us

  • Thanks OP you just saved me $25, I was about to use the 'PENNY5' voucher on something I bought last night when I saw this post.

    • I bought something last night and I'm absolutely kicking myself for the $20 further savings I could have had.

  • +7

If you buy from an overseas seller, this just negates the GST.

    • +4

You can thank Gerry for that.

      • +2

I can't believe that after all the bending over Malcolm did for big business, Murdoch still had him turfed him out*. What is the future going to look like now??

'* This is not a conspiracy theory

    • +1

It's still a saving if you were going to buy anyway

    • +3

Yup. Been stung to the tune of about $750 since it was introduced. Still cheaper than buying locally, most of the time.

    • +3

Actually the discount does not apply to shipping cost while the GST does. So you're worse off.

  • can i find the cheapest AUSTRALIA stock on ebay and ask OFFICEWORKS (in store) to beat the coupon code discounted price by further 5%??

Looking at an iphone 8 plus 256GB.

Could it be ANY seller on ebay?

    • Officeworks won't pricematch a coupon

    • let us know how you go with this?

  • +1

I am waiting for 19% off eBay on this Friday

    • +1

      you are that positive?

  • just when i paid for $700 item yesterday and only got 5% discount..

    (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

  • When does this start?

  • Already started 10 am

  • Why doesn’t ebay’s codes ever work apply to coins? Ebay UK’s sitewide codes do include coins.

  • -6

The discount code machine must be broken at eBay. We are all waiting for the 19% one.

    Contact with eBay chat*:

Ebay: Hello my name is Maverick. How can I help you today?

Member: I’m just wondering when eBay is going to release its 19th birthday specials

EBay: I’m sorry sir but that we cannot tell

Member: so there will be a discount?

EBay: I am not at liberty to say but we do have specials all the time now that Amazon is here. Marketing always trying to distract you from looking at Amazon.

Member: Aaaah. So there is something coming? Is the code BDAY19?

EBay: sorry cannot say. I have to go now. Thank you for shopping eBay

    • This chat is a work of fiction and any resemblance to an actual or intended situation is purely co incidental!😂
  • Yes, time to get a Garmin Edge Cycling GPS. Mine just broke last weekend. Great timing
