which version is the VR headset?

    • +1

I'm hoping to go into EB or JB and get them to price match the V2. Fingers crossed.

      • call me crazy but maybe Big W one is also V2? I'm comparing it to this: https://www.amazon.com.au/Sony-Bundle-Camera-VrWorldsVoucher…

And box looks to be identical. Or is this not a good way to tell?

        • +2

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure you can only tell by the model number on the box. The V2 is CUH-ZVR2. The other way to tell is the V2 has the mic but it doesn't seem to be depicted on the product page.

        • @Sergeant Salami: Hm, the V1 has the mic as well, do you mean something else?

        • +3

It looks to be V2. You can just about see the 3-point star shape on the ears indicating it has the V2's built in headphones.

Bought the same one in op's link from big w a few months ago and was v2

      • I don't see why they wouldn't. Just show them the catalogue.

        • The JB catalogue doesn't name a price but just states ask in store so I guess they would price match.

      • I tried JB Hi-Fi and said they won't price match match bundles but they do have their own bundles on offer.

    • I can confirm that i work at Big W and that this is VR2.

Any chance harvey norman will have and price match?

  • +1

Great time to buy, Firewall Zero Hour is a must buy. Game is a blast with the Aim controller.

  • Hmm tempting.. if it had a move controller I’d be in it for sure.

  • +1

Is there any way to get the whole catalogue? There seem to be quite a few posts for deals in it, but can't seem to find a site that has it all and keen to see it today.

  • +9

Can't confirm whats included but an eb employee let slip yesterday that theres going to be a PSVR $299 deal. They got the boxes and promotional stuff for it but haven't heard anything in the employee chats about the dates for it yet.

    • I assume this won't bundle with GT Sport? Would be great cuz I got the game already.

      • +1

        Safe to assume that.
He only said "the 299 PSVR sale".
        Didn't mention a bundle.
I'd disclose more info if I had it.

All I know is he was speaking to another employee (I am good friends with all the staff at the store but they do not disclose info to myself!)
He said "When does the $299 PSVR sale happen? We got the boxes and banners but I haven't seen anything in ____ (Staff chat channels)"

Don't do it people. Don't!! You must resist. I mean at first you'll be all giddy and all and will have loads of fun, but eventually poking your eyes out with forks will seem so much more fun.

In other words, the nt gimmick wears out quickly. I bought one during the last deals. Sold it a month later at a $20 loss. It was worth it for the month I guess.

Oh and do not try it with GT Sport. Sega Rally on my Dreamcast looks better.

    You must resist people!!

EDIT: Still can't believe they added VR into GT Sport and advertised it. You can only use VR in one mode. It's sooo horrible :(

Sega Rally on my Dreamcast looks better

      Username checks out

    • +4

The more people buy it, the more demand there is for the technology to increase.

I mean at first you'll be all giddy and all and will have loads of fun

This is accurate, if you want to see what it's like, borrow, hire or buy.
I enjoyed it for a short period, but then I enjoyed other people experiencing it.

I'd highly recommend trying it. Whether it's worth $319, is up to you.

    • Glad you've talked me out of it

    • Thank you, I needed this.

FWIW I had an Occulus Rift DK2, paid $500+ for it, it was awesome for about 2 days.

      • I have had a Rift for 10 months and still gets hammered daily, I also bought the Go and that gets heavy use as well mostly as a home theater and when laying in bed surfing the net and watching movies.

To each his own or maybe a DK2 was a bit to early to know as it was a developers kit?

  • Is it a good price? Happy to give up coffee for a few months to buy

    • +11

One does not simply give up coffee.

    • I cannot function without my morning hit of caffeine

  • For what it's worth I've heard VSVR on GTS just isn't worth it.

  • It's fun, BUT the hardware is too crap. Oculus did not make me sick in the stomach, psvr does.

  • $287.10 with Woolies discount.
    I'm totally getting onto this

    • Which discount is this?

      • +2

Woolworths Staff Discount gets you 10% off at BIG W now.

    • VR is limited to a subset of missions though, not available for whole game.

      • Better than nothing, plus even sandbox flight would be fun for most. Hopefully they'll add more over time if there's good VR Adoption.

  • Firewall zero hour is amazing on this. It's the first game that made me constantly wanting to don the headset. If you can get an aim controller this game shines.

  • I think JB will price match…

  • Are these any good yet ?
When psvr came out, and even 6 months after, everyone I talked to tht had bought one regreted it, saying its not that good, not worth it, and not good games to make it worthwhile in purchasing.

  • Can't wait to see the "why did I buy this thing" comments :D

  • +3

If you have a pc the psvr outputs so much better from there than from the pspro and half the price of a vive if you can be bothered configuring. I have done and tried this (I have PSPro, PSVRv2 and i7 1070Gtx PC). Works like a charm using TrinusPSVR. You get a 2-in-1 VR unit in the end. Well worth it imo and opens you to an even wider range of gaming options.

Not that we're in the topic of comparing but I've gone this far so I might as well mention that the psvr runs at 120fps vs I believe 90fps on the vive. Sure it also runs a lower res but the framerate makes a more noticeable difference to the screen door effect.

And using it this way should not void any warranties as you are simply plugging into pc and using software, no hard modification to the unit required.

Only catch is that you'll need a PS3 eye camera (as it has a usb interface not the proprietary plug on the v2 camera) - these can be had for $4 from EB preowned (will cost you way more trying to get them anywhere else).

  • +1

I hope Amazon will price match all of this

  • Anyone know if the EB Games deal for 299 includes GT Sport?
Their site shows 299 for the headset, camera and 2 games which going by what everyone else is selling is VR Worlds and GT Sport.
I'm gonna try getting Big W to match it

    • Where are you seeing 299 on ebgames?

  • If you go on their website the banner across the top advertising PlayStation exclusives shows the VR with a 299 price and it says camera and 2 games

    • Just checked, banner says $349 for me though?

      • They changed it. It was $299 now $349.

  • Just called EB customer care line and they confirmed its with GT Sport.

  • Confirmed that I got a V2 VR pack from Big W.

  • Managed to score the VR2 + VR Worlds + Farpoint for $305 at JB.

  • Is the remastered version of last of us much different from the original version on ps3?
