  Never got into it. World's in peril but seven hours later I'm still faffing about in the starting zone trying to rustle up crowds for street performers?

  On my first play through of the second one now and it's vastly superior in every conceivable way. Pacing issues much improved. If you're quasi-curious about this style of game then I highly recommend hitting the 2nd one first. Otherwise you mightn't ever make it to one of the great RPG's of the modern era.
