Some good prices on the X's right now. Your 256 is good too.

    • Thank you

      Some good prices

Ha, remember two years ago when a $1000 phone was absurd?

How quickly our sense of value changes. Well done Apple on normalising $1000 phones.

      • +5

It is now $2000 phone absurd…

        • $2400 for top of the range 512gb!!

        • and $3000 phones are absurd, next year. around this time.

        • @jabroni:

That's around my predicted price point I guessed months ago. I wasn't seriously expecting it to be this much though. Phone prices getting crazy. Next year people will want a new phone for 5g. How much will they charge then!? 3k lol

      • They’ve been at that closer to 5 - 6 years. The 5s could set you back over $1000 in 2013 and I haven’t bothered to go back further.

        https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2013/09/apple-iphone-5s-and-iphon…

      • It'll be under $1000 when the new iPhones drop

        • I doubt it. (unless there’s a much bigger ebay discount). I can’t see anyone selling the X for significantly less than the new XR.

        • @watts: $1250rrp with 20% ebay discount=$1000 (hopefully)

        • @stingyliam:
          X RRP is $1500+.

          Hope only goes so far.

        • @watts: time to sell you first born for iphone xxx ultra max extreme edition.

You clearly haven’t met him. I’d be lucky to get a landline.

People needs to stop buying new phones over $1000. I don't want to see a phone priced at $5000 in 5 years.

    • too late see now we have over $2000. looks like apple on track.

    • +1

People need to realise why these phones are so expensive here: because the AUD fell apart!
The US pricing (especially compared to US professional salaries) of this phone it totally acceptable, it's just that the currency of our great and proud nation worth f* all these days.

But don't you worry, buying dog box sized units over $1m is totally cool because poperty aint no gonna go down.

comes roughly to similar price with iphone Xr

    Any thoughts would be better?

      iPhone X
Band 28 and Dual Camera so people know you have a top notch apple phone

      • +2

        top notch

I see what you did there

    • +2

Xr has the better chip set (A12 compared to X's A11) which processing wise would see better performance but it lacks in camera and particularly lacks in the quality of the screen. The Xr screen resolution is only slightly better than 720p on a LCD panel compared to the OLED of the X. Guess it depends on what you're looking for, if you don't mind the screen resolution and prefer the larger size then go with the XR. I think I'll probably end up getting the XR for my fiance.

    • +1

I would go for the X over the Xr. Nicer screen, better camera. Just older processor and no dual-sim support. This is probably why Apple discontinue the X, because they would have to drop the price and that will impact on the Xr sales as it would be priced similar.

The XS and Max XS is also not a big upgrade over the X. I reckon sales of the Max XS will do much better over the XS.

    • thanks for the replies

Band 28 and Dual Camera so people know you have a top notch apple phone

The band 28 is interesting, I live in country areas and rarely in city so wondering how much use this is.

Just older processor and no dual-sim support

TBH I think the old model is fast enough and my present phone has dual sim which I have never used. Great feature though

but it lacks in camera and particularly lacks in the quality of the screen

This is interesting as I would be downgrading on both from my present phone and wondering how I would find it

I bought the Huawei P20 Pro several months back and despite it being a magnificent phone hardware wise, I just don't get along with it. It is such a great phone with its battery life, camera and screen, it makes a mockery of prices for the iphone. Despite that it feels clunky with software, almost like throwing in a whole load of stuff and just hoping it'll get along. Also it doesn't work well with Android carplay. Combined with that I run a macbook and ipad, the Huawei just isn't for me.

Disclaimer: I hate apple, but they seem to have me by the balls unfortunately

      I’d wait for the reviews.

In terms of camera, the X has the advantage of the dual lense but the Xr is doing some things unsupported by the X such as the new and improved HDR handling and the dynamic depth of field for portrait photos. That second one strikes me as interesting but reviews probably will need to identify how well that works on a single lens setup. Google does it to great effect but it’s to be seen how well Apple will.

Related to the camera the Xr also has stereo audio recording.

I believe that single camera is also a slight step up over the X’s 2017 version, but again we need to wait and see.

Otherwise Xr has a faster newer chip, faster Face time, LCD display at a lower density but larger size. On the display front it didn’t seem clear cut that ones better than the other. The X will be crisper and have better blacks due to OLED, but the LCD is 120Hz panel vs the 60Hz of the X. It may feel smoother as a result. Sometimes screen size is more important than pixel density too.

Xr also has better battery life I believe compared to the X.

I’d hold off for a camer shootout and screen comparison. If you aren’t fussed about either I’d go the Xr for the A12 and battery.

      • thx for the great reply.

Yeah the battery advantage is a biggie and of all the features that may be the drawcard

        • +1

Yeah I’d wait for reviews. Won’t take long.

Note I have an X now and I’m super happy with it and the battery in this models still amazes me so I don’t think you can go wrong.

  • i thought its cheaper here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/402520

    • 256Gb sold out at Allphones much to my disappointment.

  • +4

Warning: the ebay reviews of this seller indicate the iphones are not aus stock, but from the UAE. Some received phones that were second hand, and some that were pre-opened.

I'd stay well away from these guys

    • +1

      if from UAE STEER CLEAR

I lived there and they (at least used to) have certain features specifically hardwired out and cannot be changed.

No facetime for example. This was a few years back so if someone can verify if this is still fact then please pass it on

    • Ya! Check out their feedback before making your decision to avoid disappointment. Plenty of same listing in the store with different price range. You pay more in most listing. Even the listed link has higher price than another listing that they have.

  • +3

OP, do you want to address some of the bad reviews on your store regarding these phones?

    • going off these reviews probably best to skip this deal

    • +2

still no reply…..have to take a guilty assumption and pass this offer

  • I changed my mind, I will go for XR.

    • +4

i have also changed my mind, will go for XXX

      • 😂

    • I was originally looking at the XR but the price isn't really that much cheaper than the XS and the differences are quite big so I'll most likely go for the XS

      • $400 is a big different for Xs I think?

        • Yeah true. But if you compare the XR to the original X, the X definitely has better features that the XR (Which has a hideous bezel around the LCD screen) and the price is similar.
Seeing as I want a newer phone, im opting for the XS.
          IMO: XS > X > XR

I had a X64Gb for 7 months, sold it to mobile monster a month ago for $1070 and now have a small 8, reception is better with 8 it's blue tick on Telstra, and i notice the difference travelling around North Coast and Rural NSW, and FID is a PITA IMO.

  • I've never really understood why people get so carried away over phones.

    • Because baller…

Translation: people impressing others with how rich they are by buying expensive stuff like phones.

  • look up the pixel density between the iphone xr and an iphone 4 :)
    i`ll wait here

    • I thougt ‘Retina’ display was as good as eye could see so anything beyond that is unnecessary??

      • Yeah apple marketing team painted themselves in the corner with that comment.

  • I just updated my iPhone 6 with IOS12, google it easy to do as beta program have already released final version. Feels like a completely new phone, performance is what it should have been all along. No way apple will get $1000+ out of me. Unless you’re a gamer this new iPhones a complete waste of money.

  • Anyone able to Price match this domestically?

Also, I assume this is Australian not grey stock?
