  • New customers only i guess.

    • Seems obvious

  • Doesn’t AussieBB also have some sort of Signup thing where a current user signs up a new customer and they both get a free month?

    • +1

Nope. Only a free month for the referer, not for the person using their referral code.

Plus it's either promo code or referer code. Can't use both any more.

      • Well i didn't know that. Thats annoying.

    • -2

prolly go to whirpool for those members offering referrals that site has a huge aussie bb community of users

  • Wish this was around when Telecube went under

  • +10

Why do these companies never look after their long term customers???

Telco companies always have this addiction to laying it on for new customers but don't do anything to keep people. They bleed loyal customers and do nothing to keep them, but offer deals for people who will likely only be there till the end of that deal and they too will then bleed off…

    Weird.

    • have to say I am a ABB customer been with them over 15 months now and I am well looked after, have zero complaints.

      • +1

Then you have totally missed the point. I’m an ABB customer as well, very long term, I too have no complaints about the service, but I was not complaining about their service…

        • -2

I was referring to this "…these companies never look after their long term customers" which you did write!!! I have been well looked after. What did service have to do with my comment?

        • @Sunshine Moon:

So, after 15 months with them, they have you given you a deal like this to retain you as a customer or to say “thanks for staying with us”?

Because you seem to be totally missing the point… I’ll make it a little clearer…

It would be nice if telco companies would put this type of deal on for long term customers. It just gets annoying at times when I can’t make use of deals like this because I am already a long term customer.

Not saying I am not well looked after in terms of service and customer support, but it would be nice if these companies stopped appealing to the deal churners and started offering savings for customers who actually continue to support their business…

        • +2

And then you didn’t get Sunshine’s comment. The great service is what keeps you with them and how they value your loyalty. These promos for new customers are just to attract them to ABB. If you don’t like the way they “bleed” you, then why haven’t you switched companies yet? I’ve been with them for a while and I appreciate their reasonable pricing, great, constant speeds and their friendly, local customer service. That’s what keeps me with them.

          @Nachotroncoso:

Did you even read my comments?

Apart from being nice to people, what are they doing to retain loyal customers?

I am totally aware of the need to seduce new customers, that isn't my point. My comment was about retention. It was also aimed at all Telco companies, not ABB solely.

Did you miss the part where I said that I had no complaints about ABB's service? My comment was about customers bleeding off after honeymoon rates are finished.

So, it seems you have not read or read what you wanted to read or my comment has also gone well over your head as well.

        • @pegaxs:

Did you even read my comments?

          Did you even read mine?

Apart from being nice to people, what are they doing to retain loyal customers?

          What about providing superb service?

My comment was about retention. It was also aimed at all Telco companies, not ABB solely.

Well, you were talking about telcos “bleeding” customers, and this is an ABB deal, so you are including it as well.

Did you miss the part where I said that I had no complaints about ABB's service? My comment was about customers bleeding off after honeymoon rates are finished.

Then switch providers to Vodafone. I’m pretty sure you will get good pricing and after complaining about their crappy service they can give you an extra discount.

So, it seems you have not read or read what you wanted to read or my comment has also gone well over your head as well.

I think we all understand you. Is just that some of us value quality of service enough to consider it a fair treat to continuing customers and you disagree with that.

          @Nachotroncoso:

          Did you even read mine?

Why should I, when you couldn't extend me the same courtesy.

          What about providing superb service?

What about it? Why do new users get superb service AND a discount?

          "bleeding” customers

As in "losing customers to other service providers…" ie: to bleed off… If you read my comment above, you would have read the part that says; "they too will then bleed off…"

          Then switch providers to Vodafone

And start the process all over again? Churn out every end of honeymoon period? Did you not read the part where I said I was happy with ABB's services?

You are still missing the point. Plenty of others seem to have gotten it. So you are either trolling or argumentative, so for that reason, I'm done.

        • +2

          @pegaxs:
Yup, I did read yours, but obviously you are not open to read different points of view.

Anyway, good luck and I hope you find a provider that offers what you are looking after (and then share here in OzB of course!!)

        • +2

@pegaxs: I get 2 free months for being a long term customer. I only had to pay for 12 months in advance and am rewarded with 2 free months and if I an not satisfied at any point I can leave ABB and get a refund on my advanced purchase.
Of course many will say it is not that great of a deal, but it was still a reward for being a loyal customer… so they do sometimes reward long term customers.

    • Can you name one which does?

I just checked my internode account last night because I'm about to change address and noticed that all their plans have dropped price by 10$ yet they left my account on the higher price.

The days of an provider caring about long term customers is long gone just like your loyalty to them should be.

      • It’s a two sided coin. Instant gratification is too hard for many to resist. Money/discount now, worry about the rest later.

The new norm for any big business.

“Everyone is just a number, no loyalty”

So employees hammer boss for every last drop of payrise potential every pay review.

When things get quiet, employees get squeezed-out or just let go.

Both sides unable/unwilling to absorb a loss during downturn.

It can be worded/compared so many different ways. Naive to claim either side is a victim.

    • Back in the day, we’d be charged our first-born child for Internode’s famous quality.

Recent days, Aussie have it for a small premium. But free connection, no contract, double data for six months was a no brainer to get me onboard.

Then offered 2 free months (16% off) for me to do what i was already doing… enjoying the best quality for price available.

What’s weird is one-sided loyalty expectations. Like everyone constantly owes you something more, or you’ll leave. Bah.

  • Hmm, to sign up for this or wait on maybe another $20 a month offer. FTTC in our area isn't available for a while.

  • Ive been with ABB for over a week now. I will make a complaint about the speeds…. i got better speeds with telecube ~_~" paying for 50/20 and most days and times i get around 25/10

    • +1

call them tomorrow during the day and they will troubleshoot with you via the phone to determine why your not getting your speed. Worse case scenario your copper wire is the issue (or maybe your internal wiring) and they can downgrade you to lower speeds and save you some money!

      • mines available for the 250 speed. doubt its the wiring XD BUt thanks!

      • +7

I second that. I literally rang them last night (their lines are open til midnight, I rang at about 7.30) and an incredibly patient tech guy went through a number of troubleshootings with me.
Turns out the issue for me was a combination of interference from other wireless devices (a change of channel # on the router helped), the positioning of the router & wifi. He had me try wired connection and it was literally exactly the 50/20 I paid for.
If nothing else, getting these results showed me it's a good connection. It also showed me they're genuine about helping customers work through issues, he spent about half an hour with me without me feeling he was pushing for time.

There is also a free modem deal going on too I do believe "We will now be including modems on our unlimited plans on a 24 month contract" see here https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2749116
That link as the most uptodate plans or you can just go to popular plans here https://www.aussiebroadband.com.au/residential/residential-i… of course with no modem needed you can "build your own" too.

  • I signed up a Build Your Own plan which is 100/40 with 500GB four days ago and just saw this.
Can I get this deal by any chance?
My service starts on 26th this month.

    • Read your terms and conditions some plans have no cancellation costs or contract change costs.

Main reason I went with Mate Communicate they are super flexible but people are saying ABB service is superior so was a toss up for me.

    • No, if you didn’t sign up with a code they won’t allow you to do it after you’ve signed up, even if you’re not connected yet. Been pointed out a number of times by their reps on here and Whirlpool.

Signed up with ABB in April 2018 and still waiting for the NBN connection (currently on the fourth delay - September 2018). After the latest excuse we have decided to sign-up with another ISP because the ADSL connection will be disconnected in a couple of months. Now checking how the plans have changed since April! As for ABB, there are only so many excuses and only so much blame that can be proportioned to other parties and ABB have used up their quota (and yes we have communicated with them).

  • Silly question: Im a current ABB customer, is there anything stopping me from cancelling current service and signing up to this?

    • +1

You can do it, no problem but you will have downtime of 1-4 days from when they disconnect your service and then you apply a new connection and whatever time it takes to provision the order.

    • +3

Discounts don't apply to returning customers.

  • So this is on a 24 month contract? Think it should be added to the title if so

    • No, with 24 months contract you get a free modem. Not sure if this coupon can be used with that plan though.

      • Ahh OK cool - am wanting to change from Mungi so will check it out - cheers!

        • +1

Just found out that it's applicable to the 24m contract too, as long as it's 50/20 or 100/40 unlimited.

  • Where do you add the coupon?
Also what is their modem like? Am i better off buying my own from Officeworks or somewhere?

    • Add the coupon after you enter your details.
I think their modem is Netcomm NF18ACV, have a look at the thread here.

      • Ended up signing up over the phone. Now to wait for the NBN to be ready for service in my area

  • Thanks, just switched over from Lightspeed Internet.
Although they where great, they wont be offering 100/40 plans any more.

  • Anyone knows when will this expire?

    • 30/9

      • Do you know if we can signup now for a connection late October?

        • Can actually be a better deal if you get a referal from someone you know and they send cash.

I was going to sign up my parents, but this saves them $60 overall. Whereas if i refer i get a month free worth $80. Can send them $60 and still be $20 better off myself.

        • I believe you can but better confirm with them by phone/chat.
