    HOW MUCH for a blender?

    WOW………..

    • Not bad price for a blender made from Adamantium

      • Uranium or I don’t wanna know about it

        • +1

It'll even heat your food without electricity!

          • may cause radiation poising. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor.
        • Vibranium or I don't wanna know about it

  • Anyone know much about the different models? Is it worth paying extra for the more expensive ones.

I have been researching on this from last couple of months and was waiting for a good price of ~$500.

As far as I found, people suggest to buy anything from Vitamix Ascent series as they have the most powerful motor to date. This is the entry level model in the range and the next pricey models in the line have just more automatic pre-sets + digital touch features etc. But they all have same motor, jar and other core features. For me, I was not interested to spend extra on those features, so got this.

      • +1

The tnc5200 is a similar price. Seems to come with a bonus jug which saves around $150 too. It doesn’t come with the gift card though. I don’t care about technological features. Mainly longevity and motor/ performance.

        • +2

True. Not to question your preference, but here are few points (might be useful to you as well) which I collected while researching on the same thought.

I was initially interested in TNC5200. But later found out their plan on improving Ascent series over the air. It has a wireless connection (which does not do anything now), but the plan is to enable wireless upgrades. This makes it more future proof.

Also found Ascent series to be lot better in all aspects compared to 5200. See this [1]. Also has 10 year warranty vs. 7 year for 5200.

I was disappointed that smaller jars were not available in Australia as opposed to them being available in US. I wrote an email and found that they are currently in production and Vitamix plans to sell them starting December this year. The sad part is that we will have to shell out some extra bucks, but at least they will be available if needed.

@harbhar: I did extensive research as well and almost bought a Pro 300 from catch.com.au 2 days ago for $600. But this is a way better deal with +3 extra years warranty, $50 gift card, and the latest Ascent series have more options for accessories should I need in the future: https://www.vitamix.com/us/en_us/shop/ascent-series-accessor…

It.s 2.2 hp compared to TNC5200, granted that it's not a big deal. The major difference is the width of the blender and length of the blades (3 inch [TNC] vs. 4inch[Ascent/Pro 300]). Ascent is also built to be "quieter" compared to the older models, plus it has a digital count-up timer, which is useful.

In conclusion, one might argue that Ascent is a Pro 300/750 in a "newer" shell. Granted, but it has +3 extra year warranty plus $50 gift card doesn't hurt. Also for the same price as the Pro 300 on catch, this is a no brainer for our family. Good luck.

P.S. Yeah the smaller jars, as you said, is currently unavailable but hopefully will be available in the future without a doubt. Vitamix will be a super long term product in household anyway, so waiting a few more months for the newer accessories shouldn't be a dealbreaker.

people suggest to buy anything from Vitamix Ascent series as they have the most powerful motor to date

Oh OK, it's not that motors were powerful enough years ago and fools are just pointlessly consuming electricity as they use an atom bomb to kill an ant metaphorically speaking in some odd notion that this is what makes a good blender.

Maybe they buy the marketing idiocy of "unlocking nutrients" which is complete garbage. What is happening with fruit when you blend it is it turns into a sugar torrent the same as drinking sugar in a soft drink. I mean think about it - how much fruit you eating … then how much fruit you eating when you blend it. I'm guessing about five times as much.

        • +2

I think you are referring to the NutriBullet advertisement campaign of “unlocking nutrients”. I don’t know too many consumers buying these for the sole purpose of blending fruit.

The motor in general for vitamix has always been about quality & longevity. There is a lot these particular blenders will do that cheaper blenders will not and for a lot longer life span. If you tried to do the same thing in the cheaper blenders you’ll most likely cook the motor relatively quick.

Being more powerful can also mean blending for less time resulting in similar power consumption. Also it may be preferable to buy once. Then to buy multiple cheaper blenders that don’t last. Which may be an environmental factor as well as a power cost factor in relation to the production of cheap disposable blenders.

Of course depending on your needs. A cheaper blender may be fine for you if you are happy to blend fruit to “unlock nutrients”

@stickymoo: we have a vitamix and it means we can blend things without lumps. The main difference we found is I can do a Neapolitana sauce without removing the skins or seeds; quarter the tomatoes and add to the basil.. All you get is a smooth sauce - you can’t see any seeds.

Thanks OP, been looking at Vitamix for the past week. Was set for 5300 until you posted this. This is a way better deal with extra 3 years warranty + $50 Myer gift card which will go nicely with my Sonos purchase.

  • Does eGift card option apply in person as well? Wondering if I can stack that with AMEX Fashion Week $20 back off $50 spend..

Aldi just had professional grade blenders for $99. Bought as an upgrade from ninja bullet and its great.

    • +2

Maybe because we have seen too many ALDI recalls.

      • +2

Bought one in 2014 and saw a recall where they said the blades could fly out and penetrate the jar! Now it just sits as a giant paperweight in my kitchen. After too many electrical items gone wrong from Aldi, have completely stopped buying anything electrical from Aldi (oh, and 'spices' too when it was revealed by Choice to be anything but 100%).

  • Why the negs? It's entirely comparable (same specs) and much cheaper.

  • +2

What you want to look for with the vitamix models are the ones that auto detect the individual cups and smaller bowls. These screw off at the bottom so it is easier to get thick purées out. The tall jug is good for smoothies but scraping out purees is a PITA.

FROOTHIE is an alternate option. This is on sale as well

    • Sounds good. Got any Links to models/prices?

  • Hey big spender! Dig this blender!

  • "Sorry. Due to limited availability, the following item is out of stock for delivery in your area. We recommend trying Click & Collect."

    OOS pretty fast :(

The order has been canceled. Very poor service. It's not likely happened on Amazon or eBay once you've made a payment.
