Xbox One X and NBA 2K19 $299 (When you Trade in Xbox One S + 2 Games) @ EB Games

1690

Just got an email with this offer.

I just upgraded to an Xbox One X recently and this looks like a good deal to me.

Terms thanks to star64 :
Xbox One X trade offer: EB Trade policy applies. Console must be working and complete. 2 games refer to Xbox One games, must be in resalable condition. Cannot be combined with any other offers. Offer expires 22 Sept 2018. Strictly while stocks last. See staff for details.

According to some users and to EB Games on Twitter, you can also trade in an original Xbox One X. Contact your local store and depending on the size of the hard drive in the console, EB Games will give you a similar deal but for a higher price.

Mod: Selling isn't permitted in comments. Use the classifieds.

Thanks OP! Traded my original Xbox One 500GB. The sales person didn't honour my level 2 card and wouldn't allow exchanging the NBA 2K19 for instore credit. Paid $349 at EB Games in Westfield Plenty Valley VIC

    • +1

That's pretty good I reckon…I just traded my S but I might trade my Forza 7 Xbox One 1TB too.

Rang my local $339 for the 1TB…had I had known that I would have traded that and kept the S.

    • +2

Same here. Lady said they couldn’t trade back the code at all.
Still, stoked to have a Xbone X!

      • +2

Maybe might call the store and see whether I can pay extra and swap my consoles…

  • +3

For all those with the OG xbox

I just gave my local store a call:

    • OG Xbox One 1tb: $339
    • OG Xbox One 500mb: $349

    Still not bad!

  • +1

Picked this up today using my 500gb BF Grey Edition OneS - at first not accepted/not the right sku, but could see it was a OneS. Couldnt exclude my controller, used the 2x $4 games, NBA 2k14 + TitanFall2
Im a Level 2 and picked this deal up for $229

    • $70 off for Level 2? The staff must be really nice.

      • +1

        Maybe I was nice….
I think it was confusion but I cant argue with the register. Computer said yes

        • Which store please ?

  • +5

Like most EB deals, what you ended up getting can be staff dependent. This deal requires multiple manual overwrites from the staff. Below is the official break down. Using XB1S 512GB:

Trade in Value Deal Bonus Overall
    XBox One S $130.00 $130.00 $260.00
    Titanfall $1.50 $18.50 $20.00
    Dishonored 2 $4.00 $16.00 $20.00
    Trade in total $300.00
    • Staff typically remove EB world bonus (to make the calculation easier). Even if you are on EB World 4 (or 5 - if that exists), there is no way you get 100% trade bonus for the console (as this deal is offering). That's how the staff explained to me.
    • If you somehow traded in a game that's worth more than $20, then potentially you can save more.

Yes, it is possible to get a super nice staff that simply adds $130 bonus to your console trade in price with EB World bonus, but I wouldn't count on that happening. It's pure luck. The staff who served me simply used the quickest method to get me this deal (i.e. remove all the EB world bonus - as that would save her from re-calculating the difference to put in for the deal bonus to make the total trade-in value for the console = $260).

Also, as for the bonus game, whether you can get something else instead (or EB Game credit/gift card) is heavily staff dependent. Officially, they will only give you the game (not exchangeable).

It's best you go to the store with the worst case scenario in mind.

  • +1

Some eb are being dcks with what games you can trade and making up minimum trade values

    • May I ask what games did you trade in? I have the same shit in my local eb.

      • I ended up going to another eb and traded titanfall and destiny

  • +1

    Traded in my:
    - Xbox One S - 500gb
    - Xbox One Vanilla - Controller
    - Power Cable
    - Random HDMI Cable
    - Titan Fall
    - NBA 2k16

for the One X ^__^ , thank you.

    • Did they give you the NBA 2k19 code?

      • Nope i have to pick it up

  • +1

What is the going rate for NBA2k19?

  • Do you think they would take an OG Xbox 360 S?

  • +1

I traded my Xbox One S 500GB today. I called up the store and told me that it is fine trading with a non wireless controller.

Ended up buying a new wired controller for $30 from the same store and a $4 game and added one more game from my collection and included it in the trade-in. Also utilised level 2 eb world and got $326 trade-in value. So ended up paying $273 in total and kept my wireless controller. :-)

    • +1

Hi taco, So you got 260 + 10% EB World Bonus (Level 2) + 40 (for 2 games). I dont understand why some EBs will not provide the Bonus. Is it ok to share your receipt (you can mark out any personal details) , please message me if possible. Thx in advance

      • I tried 3 ebs all said no go to extra credit and some refused to trade games with less than $5 trade value

      • +2

It is more staff dependent (rather than store dependent). It's the same with the previous V-Bucks promotion.

Bottom line, it comes down to how the staff interprets the rules. Also, whether you are willing to walkaway when the staff serving you is not super nice to you.

He paid $273 + $30 + $4 = $307. Honestly, the biggest part of his saving is actually he managed to keep his wireless controller. Furthermore, $26 (8.7%) might seem a lot. However, if you actually managed to get previous V-Bucks promotion multiple times and you were lucky, you would have ended up with EB gift card credits more than $26. Discounted EB gift cards also have been mentioned by people as a way to save.

EB world level 2 or above has an once off extra trade in credit per level. If you haven't used it, call EB support and get that voucher code (it has a very short expiry time so only get it when you want to trade in something).

      • +1

Hello renegade. Link to the receipt below, I removed any s/n values.

        https://m.imgur.com/a/5f8rvum

        • Thanks taco, never realised the S in Xbox S stands for Slim… Going to try this on for size this afternoon at my local, thanks for that ;)

  • Relative newb here. I have my games stored on an external drive. Will I be able to simply plug it into a new X, sign in and it all works?

Also, I should follow the reset procedure before I go to the store? I definitely won't lose anything (assuming all my games are on the external drive)? What will happen to apps (like the BluRay player)?

    • +3

Yes, you can play from the external drive on the new X. However, if you ticked do not download 4K content previously, then XB1X enhanced games will require additional downloads.

Definitely reset your old Xbox One/S before selling (disconnect / unplug your external HDD from XB1/S before doing so if you are really scared). Apps don't take that long to install normally.

  • Does it need to trade with original box? or I can trade without the box?

    • +1

You can trade without the box.

    • +1

It makes no difference to your trade-in price.

    • +1

Thanks for the info Ben & Joe

  • Can we keep people selling codes out of the thread and in the appropriate classified forums? Its annoying and clogging up discussion on the deal.
It's also against the rules. Just reported about 10 people.

    • Yes, this.

Use the classifieds. That's what it's there for.

    • -2

Good on you. Thank you, Sherriff

  • part of me is like- Buy this now.

But part of me is like: just wait 2 years(give or take) and get the new xbox on release day which should trump this.

    • +3

Will be more than 2 years for sure.

      • All reports indicate 2020.

  • Went into my local EB and no bonus EB World trade and can't change the game or get credit. Would have to pay the advertised $299, will just keep my Xbox One S for now.
They did see in the system that you can trade your Xbox One X for a Xbox One X. Sounds funny to do this so this must be for the Special White edition coming out and Gold edition of the Xbox One X,

  • +1

A warning if you're looking at doing this deal, DON'T GO TO EB AT CHADSTONE!

Seriously, they'd change their name to NO Games if they could.

They refused three different perfectly good games as trade on Saturday, and made me go back today to get the code that they already had.

Then - unlike other stores as reported here - they refused outright to offer any form of trade whatsoever with the NBA after I schlepped all the way back just to pick it up.

They're just automaton-like staff who have zero interest in customer satisfaction - seriously, avoid them and go to stores such as Brandon Park up the road, who apparently like to actually treat their customers nicely.

    • What games you try and trade? I traded titanfall and destiny

      • Ride, Rabbids, Project Spark (sealed)

    • They are probably tired to the eyeballs of this deal.

    • I think it must be down to individual staff.

I went to EB in Docklands (Melbourne) and the lovely girl there looked up what games were eligible and then found the cheapest pre-owned games (PS 4 Fifa 14) and sold me 2 copies at $2 each.

I used these to trade in today with my 500Gb S (didn't have the console with me yesterday) and she even joked about them already being labelled to sell. Very straightforward.

Luckily I also get 10% off vouchers from my employer (MyDiscounts) so net cost $270.

  • I am probably going to do this deal, however I feel it's completely wasted on a practically brand new boxed 1TB version. Almost tempted to swap my 1TB version for a crapped up 500GB version to a complete random for good karma or trading down at Cashies first. I will get the same deal at EB anyway. Any one else in this dilemma?

    • Unless you have legit use of two XB1 consoles (XB1S + XB1X), no matter how cheap you managed to get from a second hand console from cash converter, you will end up paying more in total.

Same goes for games to trade in. If you have a game which EB values it at $4 or less, even if you believe it is worth more, you are better off trading that game in, instead of buying a pre-owned copy of Titanfall ($4) and then trade that in.

Best to minimise cost, rather than thinking about how to take maximum advantage of the trade bonus (which could lead to overspending).

  • +2

Traded my 1tb Forza Edition, $339.95 changeover. i'm pretty happy with that. Let the downloading commence. Thank god for cable.

  • +1

Traded my Amazon purchased 1TB One S today with the two games I purchased from the same store at the weekend - Titanfall and NBA 2K14 without any issue. $299 all up. This was at EB Games Harbour Town in SA.

  • meh trash, not worth trading in my 2TB xbox S. I got offered 299 for it. no boosts, not sure how others are getting them

    • +1

Try a different store, it varies a lot between different store/people…

  • +1

I did this today. But only paid 254 as I have level 3 membership.

Considering my xbox one s cost me 160 dollars after I sold the worthless games that came with that deal :D

    • You were lucky as EB staff showed me "EB World trade in bonus not eligible" in bold on his screen.

      • I think I and other people who paid less then 299 were lucky….

  • As usual, with EB deals, a lot of variations:

    • Whether staff is willing to offer EB World membership discount on top of the original discount
    • Whether you can trade in a wired controller
    • Any game allowed vs must be over $5 in trade value
    • Staff got confused so much and simply entered wrongly (one OZBer reported paying $229 - being just level 2)

Then, you have people with discounted EB gift cards. Finally, how well you manage to sell the NBA2K19 (checking on feeBay - it looks like between $40 - $70).

    YMMV.

    • just sold mine for 62 dollars.

  • Could it be a mistake about the EB World bonus no applying to everyone? Because usually it does and if you look at the other trade in deals for PS4 and the Nintendo Switch, it says that it can be combined with Eb World. Here is the info from the bottom of the Switch email:
EB Trade policy applies. Console must be working and complete. 1 game refers to a Nintendo Switch game, must be in resalable condition. Not to be combined with any other offer except EB World. Limited time only. See staff for details

The graphics are so good they made me smile

      • Yes strangely the four season drive thru was just beautiful. Sheeps crossing the road, motocross each, rain …..

I am in love with this game.

  • +1

Traded in my Xbox One 500gb, didn't have any games (I buy digitally), so purchased 2 x $4 pre owned games and traded them back in. Piad $349, but just sold my NBA2k19 for $60, winning!

  • +1

    Thanks OP,

Just traded in my old 500gb XBOX One (not S) Model 1540.
I believe that was an Assassin's Creed bundle console. Made in 2014.

Ash at my EB Games (Salamander Bay) was great.

"Bought" 2 games (Destiny and Skylanders) for $6.08, and immediately traded them back in.

Not including the $6.08 for the 2 games above, paid $324.96 for the XBOX One X using Level 2 EB Games membership.

So total changeover cost after the trade for me was $331.04 for a new XBOX One X with NBA 2K19.

    Setting it up now.

    Very happy :)

  • +1

Sold my NBA 2k19 code for $59 on ebay in about an hour of listing it, paypal fees a couple of bucks, no ebay fees as current promo to make it zero. Maybe I could have listed it higher but didn't want to stuff around for an extra $5-10

Swapped my $179 amazon 1tb minecraft edition xbox 1 s and bought bought two $4 game to trade while I was in the store.

    $179 + $299 + $8 - $57.17 = $428.83 for an XBOX ONE X which is pretty good.

  • Be careful selling your code on EBAY.

Have sold mine twice, both times the "buyer" was using a hacked account….

If you send your key to a hacked account there is no seller protection from either EBAY or PayPal.

    • Where were you an hour ago? :)

Just been scammed…..oh well lesson learned. First world problems right, free lesson for others.

      • EBAY and PayPal don't give a damn - you'll pay your PayPal fees for the transaction, even though you've been defrauded because of their crap security.

At least EBAY will refund the final value fees.

Be very careful selling codes on EBAY, its absolutely full of scammers.

WHere was I an hour ago?
Reporting scammers to PayPal and EBAY!

        • LOL

Did you get your money back? I have money in PayPal so I'm a little confused, eBay chat seems to say wait and see.

        • @bxpressiv:

          You will lose your money.

The scammer will have paid with a stolen credit card.

          You have 2 choices:
          a) refund the money now, and lose $0.30 ($0.30 being the fee PayPal retain when you do a refund)

          b) wait for the chargeback - in which case you lose all the money you received + the full PayPal fees (about 3%).

Try to redeem your CD key on your XBOX now. With luck they are trying to resell it and it hasnt been used yet.

    • Yeah pretty sure I just got scammed.

Received payment and sent code via eBay messages, not long after got message from eBay saying account useage was unauthorised.

I assume PayPal will out a debit against my account so having withdrawn it won't make a difference.

Oh well, lesson learnt, will only sell codes local next time.

      • Yep you have been scammed.

        • Cheeky Russians!

        • @bxpressiv:

Try to redeem your key now. CHances are its already been used, but if they are trying to resell it they may not have used it yet - use it or lose it.

A lot of "cheap" keys on Kinguin are sourced by scammers on EBAY. They don't use the keys themselves, they re-sell.

        • I'm confused they hack someones device to access Ebay and PayPal?

        • @bxpressiv:

Most of the time people use the same password for every single site, as well as for their email.

They get the password from a compromised web site or by phishing or whatever.

They then read the emails to determine whether the person has EBAY / PayPal.

If the person does, they then buy digitally delivered goods (CD keys mainly) using the compromised EBAY account. If you dont have PayPal they just use a stolen credit card.

A telltale sign of fraud is when someone on EBAY for 3+ years pays using a credit card, not through a PayPal account - ie. they use a guest PayPal account.

However now you can't tell this is the way they've paid unless you ring PayPal and ask - you used to be able to tell in the PayPal / EBAY screens but they have dumbed them down.

Even if you cancel a sale and refund the money because of fraud, PayPal will keep $0.30 from every transaction. PayPal make money from these frauds, so they have no incentive to stop them. I have written to the ACCC about this without response.

        • @bxpressiv:

          ok just un-scammed myself!

Checked and the code wasnt redeemed so just quickly redeemed it.

I didnt want the game, would have preferred the $57 but at least I didnt lose the game and the money…lol

        • @noise36:

Good stuff. Always good to know that the scammers have been thwarted.

The scammer wont be happy because they'll sell the key and their buyer will complain the key is bad.

A little justice for the good guys….

        • +1

          @aussietivoman:

I have always hated eBay and PayPal with a passion over these exact sort of issues but have managed to avoid them for the most part via common sense.

Lesson learnt, will sell local next time via Gumtree or forums.

        • @noise36:

What really irks me is PayPal profiteering from it.

They have no incentive to reduce these transactions, because they are making money.

At least EBAY refunds all your EBAY fees - so they dont make money from fraud.

        • +1

          @aussietivoman:

Shame they are not included in the royal commission. I am sure some widespread public scrutiny would change their behaviour.

        • @noise36:

I hope someone from PayPal sees this.

You can complain to their email [email protected]

However if your experience is the same as mine, they'll just say they are following their Terms and Conditions.

They need to be shamed into changing their policy.

      • So has anyone managed to make a legit sale of their codes on eBay?

        • Maybe if you don't say it's a code in the title and make it clear you will only post the code to the physical address on PayPal/eBay?

If the winner requests you message the code then you will likely have to start again with a new auction.

Might as well try to sell elsewhere.

I suspect the selling price on eBay of $50-70 is bullshit from all the scammers who don't care what the price is and the actual value of the codes is much lower because the game sux and has no demand, hence why they are giving it away in the first place.

        • I got scammed twice, my mate scammed twice as well.

          Zero from 4 legit.

        • @aussietivoman: Probably better off just selling in the classifieds here….

        • -

        • @noise36: Thanks, I tried posting on fb marketplace and the classifieds here instead. Hopefully someone wants to buy it soon enough.

        • +2

          yep sold for $70
and posted card via registered post
          sold almost Wednesday

sold a fifa code last time as well no issues

        • @aussman:

You done this before? Lesson learnt that for sure.

        • @noise36:
yep sold heaps of codes on ebay never had an issue - sold fifa, halo 5, halo 5 add ons, and fair few others

I email the code but also post the card so you can prove it was sent - never had an issue

        • @aussman:

Interesting…not sure how posting it helps if you also email/message it. The hacker/scammer has access to the ebay messages and possibly the email but not the physical card, so you must have just got lucky or something as nothing that you are doing would stop you getting scammed.

        • @aussman: wow seems like a great price there for sure. might just try ebay soon if I haven't got any traction on the local sites.

        • Finally sold my download code but only for $45 on Facebook marketplace.

  • +1

My store offered me a PUBG code instead of NBA 2K19 so I got that instead. They also accepted 2x $4 games I bought from them on the day. Staff member told me there was no specific exclusions listed in the T&C.

    Games I traded were:
    FIFA 14 (preowned) - Xbox One Qty: 1 $4.00
NBA Live 14 (preowned) - Xbox One Qty: 1 $4.00

  • So apparently deal was expiring today not 22/9 from what I was told at EB…

    • The Facebook page still says ends 22/9

    • EB staff is notorious for giving misleading information, it will be 22/9

      • Bearing in mind I was originally told by 1 EB staff member at my local store that I couldnt trade an original XBOX One (Not S) in this deal.

Then I read on here I could, so I rang and spoke to the manager who confirmed I could trade an original XBOX One in this deal for $349….

  • +2

Finally caved in and brought my 1TB Minecraft ed. Xbox One S to EB @ Altona Gate today. Picked up pre-owned Battleborn and Titanfall for $4 each, traded them in to complete the deal. Now waiting for a 16gb 4k content download for GOW4. Seeing Forza Horizon 4 demo and Red Dead Redemption on 4K was amazeballs.

  • Been going back and forth on this last few days. I've got the GOW4 SE bluish green One S and been pretty happy with it last couple of years tbh. Looks and plays pretty good on the 4K UHD telly with HDR and the Atmos sound bar. Only a casual gamer tho and rest of the time used as the 4K bluray player. Should I take the plunge? Thinking of selling the game if I do and handing in the spare wired controller instead and I was told $310 should be doable. So all up looking at around $250 for the upgrade and with that another couple of years warranty as well I guess. Hmmmm….
