Isn't this their normal delivery price?

    • No idea. They say its a brand new service. Just received in my email though.

      • The service has been there at $9 since it began. No deal here.

        • +2

          It's brand new to victoria

      • +7

It's new to Victoria – but I think it has been available in other states for longer.

    • +12

The previous price to deliver to my post code was $89 flat - that makes it hard to order something small , maybe this will help

      • Thanks for clarifying

      • Previousbprice for me for three heavy iron outdoor chairs and various small Knick knacks was $19.95 in Adelaide. May have been an error though, those chairs were super heavy.

        • how I wish that error becomes standard :)

        • the driver left the chairs leaning against our front door, they were so heavy none of us could push the door open from the inside and knock them over, had to walk around the back.

        • @AustriaBargain: lol I can’t stop laughing…. good job IKEA guys

    • +1

Nope, this is just the price for stuff that can be delivered by parcel via AusPost (up to a max. 2m box I believe).

Normal delivery is around about the same as it always was, has changed slightly depending if you're metro or regional and how much stuff is being delivered.

    • Yeah not a deal.

    • It wasn't for me, use to be $29 flat rate until you get a big item then it jumps to $1099 (was $599 last year).

Edit just realised I've necroposted, sorry. Disregard this.

  • anyone still getting them ikea family offers?
i subscribed however not getting any coupons or offers like i used to.

    WA here

    • +1

You may need to re-register for IKEA family as the WA program was discontinued and merged into the east coast program.

      • I did but have not received those monthly coupons or any "offers" for a while. I do receive those promotion email for the "spring launch" event.

        • +1

Actually I also have not received offers for the east coast IKEA family in a while.

Screw a store where you need to pay for click and collect.

    • +18

      Screw?

      Try a hex key.

    • +20

To be fair though, I don't think you can even comprehend the amount of space and staff/hours they would require to provide that, as lets be honest.. almost everyone would do it. I feel like it's a little different collecting potentially 100+ large and heavy products and the logistics that would involve compared to milk and cheese or whatever at coles. It's always been a self service store and they're cheaper because of that.

    • The whole Ikea business model is to get you to walk around the complete store and stay as long as possible hence the cheap food. I doubt it would make sense for them to offer a free click and collect

  • +1

Not a deal; this is standard pricing. A deal would be free delivery for small parcels.

    • +5

So then they need to increase the cost of all small items to be able to offer "free" delivery.

      No thanks.

    • That reminds me. This deal has been up for 2.5 hours and there's no sign of @jv telling us "this is an announcement not a bargain." I'm shocked!

    • +12

If you have a decent sized order, I'd pay 20 bucks to have someone go around and collect all the boxes, stack them up on the trolley and have them waiting for me.

Even something like an entertainment wall unit can have you visiting half a dozen isles and 20 something boxes (some of them fairly large). Having done that solo before, it's time consuming.

    • +3

I’d happily pay $20 for someone else to walk around and grab a stack of flat pack furniture. Last time we went we were in there for like 4 hours lugging a ton of crap and two kids around.
I’d rather shop from my couch and drive down to load it into the car and pay $20 extra.

edit: just saw it's free c&c over $500. I wish I had known about that before we went!

    • +1

      Obviously depends what you're buying… a whole kitchen picked for $20, that's a bargain.

  • Customer service and ikea ….oxymoron

    and unrelated ESAD Mokgweetsi Masisi

    • I've always found their staff helpful and friendly. There are not lots of them, but it is a self-service model.

      • depends how you take being sold something that doesn't work because they don't have stock of the special bulb or battery or addon - that sort of helpful?

  • +1

Parcel delivery - (excl. QLD, NT and TAS)

    • "Hooray!!!
      Oh, Boo.. Hiss.."
      - QLD, NT and TAS

  • +3

Screw Ikea, they paid less than $300k in tax last year on over $1b of sales. Of course they're going to be cheaper than any local competitors who actually pay their share of tax. smh article on it

    • +15

It's not IKEA's fault there are tax deductions that they can legally use.

If the deductions are they why would they not take advantage of them?

The point of ozbargain is not much different.
Promoting freebies targeted to specific groups, price errors, sharing receipts for price matching etc.

      • Fair point, just thought it worth pointing out that these loop holes aren't available to local business people, so if someone was wondering how ikea can be so affordable… now they know.

    • +19

Not saying their slim taxes are fair, but I don’t see this as a valid reason to neg the deal.

      • +2

In hindsight, neg was indeed overkill

    • +1

and they are not alone you abc

    • +4

The irony of posting this on a website that people use to save money

    • +1

Not related to the posting. Take your whingeing to your local MP.

      • Because the local MP's secretary will ask you take a seat, on the latest Poäng, and will probably offer you a meatball whilst you are waiting to voice your concerns.

    • Tax is calculated based on profit not gross revenue. Have you considered that, as IKEA sell everything at such low prices and don't (apparently) design or invent anything in Australia, maybe they just don't make very much money here?

      • Based on that calculation 1 billion of revenue and $300K in taxes they are suggesting their profit is $1 million dollars. I highly doubt they are operating on .1% margin.

Is this like Uber Eats but for IKEA ??

    • +2

      Uber Eats for IKEA.

      Now there an idea!

      • +2

        UBEA!

        • +1

          UKULELE

      • Will they deliver meatballs?

  • +7

It's products under 14kg btw, not orders. You can order multiple items that fit within those dimensions for $9. eg 5x 13kg items would still be $9

I checked with 8 dining chairs and it was still $9

That's a pretty big distinction, you should edit the title to reflect that.

  • +2

$599 shipping to regional Victoria for anything that can't be sent via post. GTFO

    • +3

      Sounds reasonable.

    • -1

Well, why would it cost any less to pay someone to drive a truck to some god forsaken outpost hours away from civilisation?

  • What can you get that hasn't got a +120cm part? Dining chairs but you wouldn't be able to get a table.

    • +5

Any of the kitchenware like utensils, chopping boards, dinner sets.. pots and pans, bedding, throw rugs, doonas, cushions and covers, home decoration (vases/picture frames), fake plants, lighting, office chairs, storage boxes, childrens toys, bathroom accessories.. a lot

  • +5

God I thought this was a courier service like Officeworks Mailman. Woulda been helluva bargain for that weight and dimension!

    • +1

I mean, for IKEA products only, it is a bargain for that weight and dimension.

    • my first though too, wish there was more local alternatives to auspost.

  • It's a strange policy. Relatively sane delivery price now on the stuff I wouldn't buy at Ikea but still stark raving mad fee for delivery on the stuff I would.

    • Better off finding a bloke with a van on airtasker for the big stuff.

  • +1

Can get those Ikea Ladda's now via delivery.
Rumour is that they come out of the same factory in Japan as the Eneloops.

    • They do, 100% :D

  • Didn't even know they had online ordering!

  • $9 but estimated delivery date was a month from today for items that are in stock in store.

  • -1

Dammit, curtain rods $49 delivery :(

  • -1

Excludes the third most populous state? Huh?

  • -1

$49 to post a rug to me in Sydney :(

  • +1

Actually pretty reasonable, seems to be pretty fast delivery too.

IKEA was so price-gougey with their delivery for a while, especially their smaller items.

  • +2

This was posted in 2018 !!

What's with all the old posts popping up on the front page?
