  • Just bought 2, you won’t beat that price!

  • I am now using 10w-40 oil, can I put this in my car instead?

    • Depends how modern your car is and what the manu specs for it.

      • It's a 2005 Honda Accord, recommend 5w-30 according to user manu, but I use 10w-40 normally cos it's an old car.

  • @baicai
How many kilometres on the odometer. Do you tow anything or race? How cold do the winters get in your area?

I’m no mechanic but it seems safe if the manual recommends 5w-30 and you do normal driving. You could always check the dipstick to see if you’re burning up oil and check the driveway to make sure nothing is leaking out.

I’ve heard people using a thicker grade oil in late Subaru foresters to reduce engine oil consumption.

I’d be interested to hear a more knowledgeable opinion though.

    • Actually I know very little about cars. 170k on the odometer, daily drive between home and workplace. I live in Sydney BTW. Last owner used 10w-40 and recommended me to do the same. So I am wondering if I can use this 5w-40 oil instead or do I have to stick to 10w-40 one.

      • +1

Right. So the only day difference is the cold viscosity. Once the engine hits operating temp they’ll both have the same viscosity.

I’d say go for it, but i’m no mechanic. Is the engine oil you normally use semi-synth or full synthetic. The Castro edge is supposed to be full synthetic. Might be a bit overkill for your needs, but it’s a good deal.

  • Thanks, good timing! I only have 1 5L container left and my car needs at least 6 for an oil change.

  • My car needs to drink this often..

    Thanks!
