  • This would be good for travelling. What do you suggest for a portable brewing solution to go with this steamer? Have an aeropress but I'm not a fan, comes out like a long black. After something that would create an espresso like shot.

Sure, happy to help! Checkout the NanoPresso which is also on sale: https://alternativebrewing.com.au/product/wacaco-nanopresso/

It is a portable espresso maker, provides an impressive shot for its value.

      Hope this helps,

      • @sbjel1

I see you now have the Leverpresso in stock!

On a scale of "Nanopresso to Flair/Rok", where would you place the Leverpresso in terms of results (disregarding portability).

    • Since you already have an aeropress you can try the Fellow Prismo attachment for it so you can make espresso style shots with the aeropress. It basically replaces the filters and is reusable. Bought it from Alternative Brewing here https://alternativebrewing.com.au/product/fellow-prismo-aero…

      • The Prismo just helps to generate foam. There's not enough pressure in it to actually make an espresso but it's not bad if you want a decent, quick and easy travel coffee maker. You can get a similar effect by using two metal filter disks. The Nanopresso will make an espresso. Nanopresso also sell a Nespresso adaptor, which can be a godsend if you don't want to bring a grinder.

    • I have the nanopresso and it makes excellent espressos, as the device is pump pressure and can’t heat the water you need to be able to put hot water in, it’s great for camping! I recommend buying the nanopresso plus the double shot kit. Don’t buy the minipresso.

Good for travelling? probably only for camping or caravanning.
For $150 with a steamer only & a microbrewing kit, you might as well buy an expresso for a few hundred to have both.
Just imagine the cleaning of this, I'd rather just buy my coffee

  • Other option is to buy an otto,

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/THE-LITTLE-GUY-OTTO-ESPRESSO-COF…

    602 here with Phenom

All in one makes a lovely coffee, but a bit expensive,

  • I use traveling as an excuse to visit cafes. Then I look forward to my home roasted, perfectly extracted, shiny steamed milk cappuccinos topped with pure African gold cocoa/sugar.

  • I have one of these $30 milk frothers from Kmart:

    https://www.kmart.com.au/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDi…

They have their issues, you have to really clean them carefully but they are really cheap and I have and use one at work and one at home coupled with a Nanopresso for great coffee made cheaply. Aldi beans are also great. The pricey bit of my setup is a good Breville burr Grinder.

The milk frother in a Nesspresso machine is actually really good. They have a much better surface than the Kmart one and are thus easier to clean.

Is there anything up to say $50 that has a good surface but works like the Nespresso one?

    • The milk frother from Aldi is about $30 too and the surface is quite good. But I can't compare it to the Nespresso one.

      • Do they get micro foam? These bellman are really like a cafe machine steamer, makes great micro foam you can pour latte art with. Hope that helps :)

        • Even the nespresso one which is the bees knees of these, is very hit and miss.

    • Got it as well - but only to heat milk when travelling (remove the spinning disk). I use a french press to create microfoam once the milk is heated and it's pretty good. What part do you find hard to clean?
