Recently got stung by Jetstar regarding my Carry On luggage and they extorted me for $50 to have it checked in so I have been looking for a lightweight and affordable Carry On bag and found an option on Amazon.

If you have Amazon Prime then you can get this one with free shipping, otherwise shipping is $121 bucks!

The Samsonite Omni Pc Hardside Spinner 20 weight is approx. 2.9Kg.

I travel several times a month so a good carry on is important to me so this one ticks all the boxes

  • Lightweight
  • Affordable
  • 4 Wheels/Spinner
  • Hardcase
  • Expandable
  • Full Zip
  • Lock TSA compliant
  • Compartments inside

There is another option if you want to shave a few hundred grams off but it comes in more expensive +$30 but still in the affordable range Winfield 2 Spinner

I also read that Qantas started to weigh and charge for carry ons so I think this practice will start spreading across more Airlines in AU so it's money well spent as Airlines making billions of those extra fees

Cheaper and under $100 with Cashrewards !

Use this bag on your super deal to LA or to HK

stunned by Shetstar too, their weighing ground team were so rude.
If Qantass doing that, I'm sure I'll fly with others.

  • Wow 2.9kg, thats like only 4.1kg of items to be packed before you hit the 7kg cabin limit.

Plus the stuff you stash in your pockets in the jacket youre wearing over your jacket filled with things in the pocket

3kg for a carry on isn't lightweight. You can get full sized suitcases which are 3kg.

      • Applite is 4 wheels vs 72 hr has 2 wheels.

Have the larger applite and its really good. Drawback is the sides aren't reinforced so careful when putting fragile stuff near the sides.

        • Look again - it is a 2-wheel bag.

        • You do have the Samsonite 72 Hours 4-wheel spinner also.

    • Not a hard case
Not a spinner (once you went spinner you won't go back)
      No lock

All these additional features come at cost ($ and g)

    • 1.5kg actually.
72 hours spinner is also 1.5kg.

  • No pockets to put headphone/ipad which is a negative for me.

This carry-on is HEAVY ! No wonder OP's other carry-on got checked in if he figures this one is light !!

How dare you to speak the truth!? He was EXTORTED by jetstar, not the other way around.

Too heavy! Last time we were in China we got a bag on wheels similar to this one for 20$ and it only weighted 1,3kg!
Wheels fell off after 5 trips tho but it was great

Thanks. I think Samsonite has a 10 year warranty.

Now it is only 1kg without the wheels ! Nice.

  • I just take a thin nylon sports bag when I do overseas trips I got it from Kmart it folds away into a small size that's fits in my pocket weighs about nothing so I get my full 7kg worth lol.

  • We just bought an Antler Oxygen carry on, only 1.7kg. $144 del. Not a hard case. I've seen Air Asia crush a Samsonite hard case like a can so ballistic nylon is perfectly fine by me.

Oh and yes, 2.9kg is heavy for carry on.

  • I agree for a carry-on it is still too heavy, the best is the Samsonite 72 hours carry-on 1.5 kg. You don't need a hard case for carry-on as it is with you all the time.
