Need 4 :/
Just bought a GPU!
GAH!
im in the same boat, less the GPU hah
Great price!
The sad cheap-azz ozbargainer in me would still shuck one of these for $60 less though :)
But RED drives comes with 3 years warranty though…so better in the long run
The My Book comes with a 3 year warranty too (but not sure if that includes shucking haha)
shucking it voids the warranty :(
Arg, do I drop 1200 on 4 of these now?? I just paid off the CC :(
Don't do it! OR you'll be in debt for life :)
With 4 of them, you get 32 TB. Assuming 2:1 redundancy, you will have 16 TB usable. Would not a cloud solution be more practical than paying for hardware plus electricity? Additionally, cloud price will continue to get lower as years pass by.
It depends on the speed of access required to the files.
Cloud solutions are fine for photos, for example, but not so good for amateur filmmakers who have huge reams of raw video data to work with.
Agree. I'd love to live somewhere with decent internet and could use the cloud for more than just document and photo storage
Pfft, 2-1 redundancy. Run Unraid or similar and get parity with only one 8TB HDD.
AfterPay it…
That seems awfully expensive?
This is 8TB Western Digital RED, a NAS aimed product, they claim greater performance and reliability for mulitple connections at once with these. They have so many colours, GREEN, BLUE, BLACK, RED, GREEN, and GOLD. I wonder what happens if you collect one of each?
And WHITE for the initiated ozbargainer :P
How could I forget WHITE, the power of saving money!?
@FabMan: If you put all these colours together you get WHITE - it's the master of the universe
i'm hunting for white as well. any deal?
kinda like unicorn, at least to us Aussie.
Captain Planet will appear and yell at your for wasting all that electricity.
saw this earlier but pulled the trigger on 2 x Seagate ironwolf 8tb as I already have 2 of the same one in NAS as wd is 5400rpm and seagate is 7200. Actual cost was ¬$260 with all the discounted gift cards.
red should certainly outlast an ironwolf in nas config.
Thinking of jumping in on a NAS - the 418play and a few of these. Does that seem like a reasonable combo?
I'm considering buying 4 of these + 4x ODROID HC2 and combining them using LizardFS ;)
Love the HC2s, just wish they were cheaper….

I went with 918+
Red or ironwolf? not running any sort of raid just to back things up on and occasionally run the files of the drive.
Wow great deal OP. Bought two about 3 weeks ago for 335 each and thought I had a bargain!!!!-
This item is out of stock.
Keep returning to check stock as another post says Computer Alliance will be making more stock available over the course of the promo to reduce the chance of dealers buying up the stock over genuine retail customers
yep, they've added more stock, but as another listing at a higher price.. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/8TB-WD-3-5-SATA-6Gb-s-Red-HDD-PN…
Edit: Actually, it seems this deal was for the older/discontinued WD80EFZX model. The higher price one ($16 more) I linked is the WD80EFAX

Nice work, OzBargain!
Seagate ironwolf any good?
Yes.
What an incredible deal! Bought one too. Thanks OP
