AMD AM4 Ryzen 7 2700X Eight Core 3.7GHz 105W CPU $415.20 + $15 Delivery (Free with eBay Plus) @ Computer Alliance eBay

PCSAVE

At the moment, this is cheapest price I could find for AMD's best general-purpose CPU!

I have one of these and highly recommend it. It's excellent for software development and great for gaming.
The AM4 platform will be supported until at least 2020, so you'll be able to upgrade to a 7nm CPU in 2 years pretty cheaply if you want to.

Free shipping for ebay plus members or free local pickup, otherwise delivery charges will apply.

Don't forget 2% off at cashrewards
Or 2.5% off at shopback if that's your thing.

Thanks to TA for original 20% post

This is can easily be overclocked to 4.1ghz with the stock cooler.
I managed to get 4.3ghz on all cores.

FYI This was cheaper during last 15% off CA sale.

Also I was seeing the price as $469 last night for a few hours which would have come down to $375 (a real bargain).

    Good but not great.

Yup, was quietly hoping that sale price was going to hold.

      Damn, I didn't think CA jacked prices…

      • Rep said they didn't change any prices. Others say it had something to do with a bundle deal which was running on their actual website and the system transferred cheaper prices to ebay. Either way its a blow to their reputation of not jacking. We all saw cheaper prices.

        • They had two listings prior to the sale, the lower priced one was showing as the new listing and was only for purchases that included other hardware.

The current price listing was the same before the 20% off promotion was running iirc.

@JF: I saw $459 and $469 last night, and they've pulled the $459 item. The sale history for the item shows it was priced at $469 prior to today (which was the launch MSRP).

@jasswolf: My mistake then, memory isn't the greatest these days.

Shame like you said, they were the only good guys that kept prices the same. I probably won't grab anything as was expecting the 2700x to be sub $400 as well.

  • If you're looking to go for raw overclock, there's more value in the 2700 ($343 from CA) than the 2700x, and this was shown in all the reviews.

The 2700x is slightly better binned, but comes with an OC profile that is already very tightly tuned and will scale with better cooling. More impressively, it'll drive up individual core performance in single through to quad core workloads, which is what makes it so competitive with the 8th gen Intel series for gaming.

If you're buying this (and I'd suggest waiting for the next price drop, or at least another sub-$400 deal if you can), just pair it with a great cooler and the board will do the work for you.

    • @jasswolf what is your opinion on x370 / b450 / x470 boards? What would you recommend for 2700/2600?

I have read tomahawk is best b450 which would go great with a 2600…

        x370 / b450 / x470 boards?

I watched a benchmark/overclock comparison video of the X370 vs X470 (Asus Crosshair Hero VI vs VII). Results were the same with the same 2600X.
But you might as well go with the B450/X470 as we don't know what the differences will be in 2 years with the Ryzen 4XXX cpus. Price difference is minimal.

I went with the Asus Crosshair VII Hero (X470)

      • IDNKW has covered it pretty well, but I'd target the B450 unless you're going for SLI (not value for money IMO), or really need the extra slots and ports.

I'm not across the models, but if it's anything like the B350 options, you'll want to pay close attention to the revision of USB 3.1 used.

  • Poor deal. The 2700x has been under $400 a few times recently. This is just supporting the price jacking. The times is was under $400 was with 10% and 15% off yet 20% its at $415 go figure

Find a better (active) deal and post it then.

    • So by your logic, everything must drop in price over time and if it doesn't, it's no longer worth buying?

      • I think I know who is negging our replies ;)

      • No, the baseline price needs to be consistent before whatever discount is applied. However, what is happening is that the pre-discount keeps changing during these sale events.

If you are not tracking prices, you could get suckered into thinking you got a good deal. And that's against the spirit of these sales.

        • You're right - I personally wouldn't have posted a post for this, but I'm also not a big fan of: "well it's been cheaper before, therefore it's not a deal."

        • @Lorindor:

Sometimes, they get a bit more expensive than the last event. Or the same seller lists the same item under different item codes. One would be the "normal" price with no discount, and the other would be a jacked price with whatever discount the current eBay event carries.

The discounted price ends up being almost the same as the normal price.

I had to escalate one such purchase to eBay under their price protection guarantee and they resolved it by giving me a gift voucher.
