Telecube no longer offering NBN

The purpose of this letter is to inform you that Telecube will no longer be offering NBN services from 4th September 2018, after that date the NBN services are in danger of being disconnected. Please act promptly and arrange for a new provider as soon as possible.

We understand that this news is short notice and we also acknowledge the importance of your internet connection. As a result we have made arrangements with two Internet Service Providers that we think are a good fit with your service. Below are the prices and links to their respective sites.

=============================================================
** ABB (Aussie Broadband) **

Aussie Broadband is pleased to offer Telecube customers switching over to us $10 off for the first six months on any unlimited plan, or $5 off for the first six months on any of our other plans.

We know changing providers can be stressful so we aim to make it as painless as possible – online applications will usually see your service switch across in anywhere between 15 minutes and a couple of hours. Please note that if you want to port across your phone number, switching across will take longer.

Aussie Broadband offers all-Australian support, no connection fees and no lock-in contracts (so if you don't love us in the first month, you're free to leave).

To take up this offer, you need to sign up at the Aussie Broadband website www.aussiebroadband.com.au or call our friendly team on 1300 880 905 and use the following promo code at the checkout: telecube

This offer is only available to current Telecube customers and will expire on 31 August 2018.

** Siptalk **

Siptalk are offering two speed tiers with unlimited data. As an incentive they will add a credit to your account for any unused days on your old Telecube service.

  • 50/20 unlimited $75/month
    -100/40 unlimited $95/month

Please log into your Siptalk account at https://manage.siptalk.com.au/myaccount/services/addnew/nbn/ and you can add a service there.

Thank you for your past business and we wish you all the best for the future.

Kind Regards,
John Matich

    • I was going to make dispute with paypal and i couldn't find any transaction with TC in my paypal, TC have send me an email regarding renewal and money deduction but no money had been deducted either from paypal or my bank account. guys check your actual deduction in case you're lucky. my NBN is still going with TC, signed up with fliptv yesterday but havent heard from them yet.

      • You'd better cancel the PayPal payment agreement.

  • Are there any 4g telstra services that offer huge data for around $70? Im thinking this might be better off then getting nbn…

  • Just signed up with Skymesh to Price match to Exetel ( Month to month) NBN 50 500 GB plan @ $59.99. Advised less than 48 hours to be connected (FTTP).
    Let's see how it goes.

    • skymesh price match?

      • You can ask Skymesh to price match with Exetel's NBN50 500 GB plan.

        • wish I knew this an hr ago. ended up signing with mate.

    • Just wondering if Skymesh also match the PAYG VOIP call which is included in Exetel plan?

  • I can't believe I am posting this…. I will probably need to scrub myself down with steel wool in the shower. But I actually signed up with Telstra. 1 TB 50/20 talked them down to $69pm (currently have 2 x mobile phones with them mainly because I need their coverage) albeit on a 24-month contract.

The main decider was their service guarantee month. I never got close to my 40mbps down with Telecube on 50/20, I was lucky to hit 30. Telstra will refund me after a month if I dont get 40mbs per second down.

    • +1

reasonable price, but 24 months is a long time. I just signed up with my 4th NBN provider is just over 2 years. It's not my fault - they all go crap.

      • 3rd provider in 10 months haha. Going on 4th next month.

    • Did you at least get the 4g backup modem and Telstra tv?

      • Yeah got the modem that does 4g backup, Telstra TV, and 6 Quota top ups per year - that being said I will never hit 1tb anyway so pretty useless really

        • Do you Foxtel? They throw in fuel Foxtel more now for some people

        • @TarquinOliverNimrod:

No i didn't. I suppose in true Ozbargain fashion I should have!!!!!! ,)

        • Just wondering what was the phone number you called? I tried calling their 1800 993 728 number and they were adamant there was no deals or discounts that can be done. I also have 2x 24m mobile plans with them…

I even told them that i was definitely looking at getting a plan, but if they cannot help me out with getting more value, then i will look else where. and the guy was just uninterested and said "bye". I was very polite about it too.

Tried their 24/7 chat also…. tried several different people on there, and none of them could even do that plan for the price and inclusions.

Back to the drawing board haha

  • Anyone switched to Exetel and ported in their VoIP number? I rang Exetel today to expedite the provisioning without waiting for the modem to arrive, and was told they cant as they have to wait for the VoIP to port over first, something they didn't tell me when I spoke to them before (just told me NBN in 3 to 7 days, VoIP would take 10 to 15 days)

Exetel is saying if they transfer the NBN before the VoIP I'll lose the number, but not sure if this is right. Would have thought even if I moved my NBN away from Telecube, the VoIP DID would stay with them, unlike a PSTN number.

Unlikely to get any info out of Telecube, wanted to ask Siptalk if this is right, but number doesn't ring when I call it and can't find the live chat on their website.

    • Now, I am really confused. I also switched to Exetel and my VOIP number which is with Telecube is extremely important to me. I explained to them the importance of my phone number. They suggested that first we transfer the NBN, and when the NBN is connected, I will ring them to start the VOIP number porting process which might take around ten days. I have the agreement in writing as an email and I also recorded the whole conversation. Our VOIP number is in fact connected with Siptalk, even though it is through Telecube. I think the number will stay for sometime and porting will be possible.

      • I'm pretty sure will be ok.

Seems like more of an issue when porting a PSTN number to me.

I'm kind of guessing here but I would have thought that even after nbn service is removed the VoIP DID could still remain at Telecube as the two are not really linked.

      • +1

i hope you obtained permission with their staff before recording the whole conversation. Since it would be inadmissible in court and illegal on your end for recording a conversation without their knowledge.

  • +1

Received today from TC, still no apology or acknowledgement about possible refunds to credits.

    Hi ,

Aussie Broadband have advised they are extending the transfer offer made to Telecube customers until 11:59pm on Sunday 2 September 2018. As a reminder the offer is outlined below. To date around just under 1000 Telecube customers have taken up the transfer offer to ABB with the transition being quick and smooth.

  • Ladies and gents, can I get some advice please?
TC charged me on the 28th August for $65. I believe this is prepaid for 31 Aug - 30 Sep (which may only be until 4 Sep now..).
How can I get my money back? Assuming I am no longer with TC or they disconnect me on 4th Sep, I should be able to get back $65 - ($65/31 * 5 days) = $55, right?

I paid using credit card by the way. I just went to the online account > Accounting > Auto Top-Up, and now it says Unavailable.
I just want to disable the auto top-up, just in case..

    • Contact bank without delay for chargeback. It's your only chance.

      • should I ask for the full $65 or $55 as per my calculation above?

        • $65

        • I don't think it works like that. I simply disputed the whole transaction on the basis that the service I paid for stopped before being completed. That's what the form said. Let the bank decide. I don't want to profit, but rather that than being robbed because I never asked for any of this.

        • @Make it so: same thing here

Called Westpac told them the story they initiated a services not rendered process and gave me a reference number and everything told me they will send Telecube a refund notice and they have 45 days to comply and pay.

Also sent ticket with PayPal since I paid with PayPal which is linked to my Westpac MasterCard debit account.

        • @AlienC:

Watch out. PayPal ban accounts that initiate chargebacks.

        • @Make it so:

So I contacted Amex via live chat to ask for $65 chargeback and I was told that I need to ask Telecube first to refund.
If they dont comply, then I will need to go back to Amex to ask them.

However, I just tried to call at 9:03am AEST using (03) 9097 7770, and could not get through.
Has that number been disconnected or simply busy at that time?

Any one has any luck contacting Telecube?
In Contact page, it says there is Live Chat but I can't find it.
Is email a better way to contact them?

EDIT: I have now connected to AussieBB, do I need to tell Telecube to disconnect my service from today? Can that be done via Online Account Manager or have to call/email them too?

        • @OzFrugie: in my case, evidence of cancellation was sufficient. The email makes it clear they are not offering a refund.

I did ask for refund straight away, but obviously no response.

  • For anyone who got the charges, did you set up auto top up previously?

    • I did…

      • Ok

  • +6

My NBN got shitcanned this morning without warning. Anyone else have their connection drop?

    • Yup just woke up to no internet. Now on call with ABB. Can't believe I had faith and supported them when almost everyone here criticised them. I have learnt my lesson… Stick with the experts at ozbargain!

    • Yes! Woke up to no connection and hadn’t received any emails about changing either. Google led me here. I’ve already logged to switch to ABB.

    • Sync dropped out about 5 mins ago, I'm moving to exetel but shouldn't have happened yet.

Will give it a bit of time…

    • Yep. Lost connection last night…

  • Are you still getting daily "critical balance notification" emails from Telecube or am I the only one who hasn't figured out how to turn them off?

  • -4

Yep, they switched me off as well this morning.

Wondering though why would anyone consider switching to ABB or Siptalk? Obviously Telecube has vested interest in both otherwise they would not advertise it… After we have seen their unethical business practices lately, the last thing I want to do is to keep supporting their business.

Siptalk = telecube -> why would you??
ABB = entering the promo code, I bet telecube gets commission or in whatever other way will benefit from it. -> Why would you?

BTW, their practice to promote you to move to ABB with the expedited churn time seems to me a strong case that could be presented to the ACCC. I think..

Did I say I'm very pissed off??
    Grrr…

    • I put through a request with Mate this morning at about 7am, connected by 1:30pm - pretty happy! On their $59 50/20 plan, speedtest gets 46down/19up (FTTP). Friggin Telecube.

    • +2

I highly doubt there's any vested interested between Telecube and ABB. ABB doesn't operate in shady manners, as they are probably the most transparent RSP in the country.
I would say it's more that Telecube would have said to ABB "if you can give our customers a discount, we'll recommend you in our closing down e-mail". It's actually in Telecube's vested interest to give their customers a favourable option - it reduces the "badwill" (or whatever the opposite of "goodwill" is) towards them.
More than 1000 TC customers have signed up with ABB - I don't think TC has to pay ABB for that type of customer intake!

  • Mine is still fine.

    • Just wait. It's just it takes time the 'for loop' finishing to disconnect all active sessions…
So looks like their hoped commission via churning ppl to ABB did not work out as expected and need to 'encourage ppl' now (as seen already above) to do it asap.

Bugger, I'll rather use my 4G for now than helping them to earn more money…

      • Just join ABB without the coupon code so telecube gets no commission lol.
Then you have to ask the question to yourself….. Who is actually winning in this case? Telecube gets no commission…. You get no Discount…..

        • You do get a discount. ABB offer a $10 off for 5mo on any plan vs $5 for 6mo with the coupon. So it is actually better outcome not to use the coupon on the non unlimited plans… With no coupon you still get $50 off contra $60 on the unlimited plans during the first 6mo, so that's not a significant difference either.

So unless i misinterpreted and the tc coupon is on top of ABB standard first 5mo promotion, it is not significantly different and in some cases it is actually cheaper if not using the coupon. Or did I miss something?

        • @csi00t:

difference is that the telecube promo applies to anyone, even previous ABB customers
          Their normal promos dont

        • @csi00t:
How do you get $10 off any plan?

        • @s4nju: oops.. I have to take that back and apologize. Totally got mixed by the nearly same name. Wonder how they could actually register their business name.. When googled, this is what i got as first match to check their current plans:

          https://www.australiabroadband.net.au/

Obviously this is not ABB…. (Aussie vs Australia… lol)

Sorry about it and ignore the stuff about it above. In this case sure, it's worth to consider the deal if you already decided and wanted to go with ABB (the real one, not the one I mixed it up).

But regardless, TC screwed all of us and now I just have to wait for the new ISP to connect as I wanted to go with someone else, not ABB…

        • @csi00t: I cannot see a way to edit this comment, so just adding/replying to it now to correct it as mentioned below that this is all rubbish, i accidentally mixed up the nbn plans i found on the net with another provider with a very similar name. So the only coupon for ABB is the one via TC and if you really wanted to go with ABB, you would be silly not to use..

  • Pissed as hell at these muppets.

I setup my parents fttn accounts through Telecube and have my number/email as the account contact as they are IT illiterate.

I didn't even receive any email notification about this event and only found out after my mum called this morning asking if I could help get her internet back online.

    Cheers, pricks!

    • Were you parents mad at you for recommending them Telecube? Mine was :(

  • +5

For anyone still reading and haven’t signed up anywhere yet. If you start the sign up process with exetel and don't complete it, in a few days they will send an email offering $20 off the first month. I started on august 29, didn't complete and then today received the $20 off email.

    • I signed up on 29th. Oh no

    • I actually hit the "unsubscribe" button when I first got the "resume order" email and didn't get the "$20 off" email. However, using the link from the original email showed the $20 off anyway.

  • Are they going to provide refunds to existing customers?

    • +1

No chance. You have to fight for it.

  • I lost connection at around 5:40pm today.

    • Same, I've just lost connection.. what happened to being the 4th?

      • Expect anything from this mob.

      • Was forced to sign up to ABB last night, luckily it's been connected this morning but still very unimpressed when it was very clearly communicated to be the 4th. Shame on Telecube.

    • Yep, your not alone. Lost mine about 11am, then my neighbours dropped out about 5pm too.

    • Wow this is bad.

  • Any providers anyone can suggest please.

    • Plenty, have a read through the comments on this post. Hawkeye even listed a whole bunch on page 2.

    • Aussie Broadband

      • -2

        24 month contract now though

        • oh wow WTF?

        • -1

@Homr: well, for their unlimited plans

        • +1

@TarquinOliverNimrod: the 24 month condition wasn't there 2 days ago

        • -1

          @Homr: started yesterday

        • Not true, go build your own, choose speed, to custom, put slider to the end and it makes it unlimited.

        • @apptrack: yep you are right. my bad. it's 24 months if you want the modem.

  • How much time it takes to switch connections?

    • Ask the provider before switching.

    • ABB were understandably very busy when I phoned around 9am this morning. (I would have ordered online, but I wanted to ask if they were still honouring the Telecube voucher - which they are). They said the wait would be 20mins-5 days. I got a text at 5.30pm to advise my NBN was good to go. Very pleased with turnaround time and ease of process. Now hopefully PayPal can refund me for my last payment to Telecube.

  • Telecube have known they were going under for well over 6 weeks when I cancelled and asked for my credit to be refunded. They kept making false promises and ultimately decided to stop replying 4 weeks ago. Unfortunately the 60 days had past so couldn't open a Paypal dispute.

    • +1

PayPal disputes could be done up to 180 days? Has that changed?

    • 180 days

  • +1

Lucky we all have good ozbargain phone plans to be able to still connect to further get Ozbargain deals:)

  • Got online with Barefoot (="Mate"). Signed up to 50/20, getting 46/19 on Speedtest from my mobile on Saturday evening 8:45 pm. Not bad. Ping is 8ms, so there's a PoI in Perth.

But be careful - the modem credentials in the order confirmation emIL differed from those in the connection confirmation email (slightly different username). Spent an hour debugging authentication issues until I realised it.

    • How has it been? They advertise as 20Mbps evening speed.

      • So far, very good. Speedtest.net app usually gets about 46.5/18.5 throughout the day. fast.com (which uses the netflix servers I believe) gets about 42Mbps in the evening.

I'm on an FttN connection that has a theoretical max linespeed of 90Mbps. So am not hitting those.

Originally I wanted to sign up to ABB, but they had no connections in my area for 3 weeks. But if my connection with Barefoot (Mate) stays like this, I see no reason to change as ABB will cost more.

Service also very good. I had sent an email to ask why the username in the "activation" email differed from the "welcome" email, as it had caused me an hour of troubleshooting. I received a response within minutes, explaining the Telecube had caused my connection to be cancelled mid-transfer, such that they had to reconnect it and reissue a new username. Very polite and responsive.

  • +1

NBN has totally been a crock, I've been with Telstra for ages and it seems by and far the best it gets, but competition on the NBN is non existent especially when pricing is practically the same and a big Telco can throw in tasty tidbits

  • +4

Mine was disconnected about 3 hours ago. Shame on you TC ! Not even can keep promise til 4/9 !

  • I was disconnected around 8pm last night too (TC FTTN Newcastle). I signed up for FlipTV NBN last Wednesday and they told me on Friday the order was being submitted then and hopefully things churned over on the weekend.

They mentioned that there were lots of TC customers in the same boat.

So fingers crossed for some internets today.

    • Also signed up with flip can’t see them connecting up today as they are closed

      • If you can let me know the speeds with them , I’m learning towards Mungi

        • Got my email yesterday connected first go
          Speed down = 22
          At peak = 19 to 20
          All in all it’s good

        • @Jettblack: did u sign up for 50 mb speed

        • @silkysmooth: nah can’t get that high on my line

  • +1

So today I just got an automated email stating that my account credit has just been deducted for the following months service.

    • +1

      Credit card?
Wonder if I have to block mine…

      • No, I had enough existing credit in the account so I don't think there will be any charge to the card. Still a little worrying.

  • I signed up with Exetel on the 29th. Haven't heard anything from them yet about connection. Does anyone know how long it normally takes with them (no Voip)? TIA.

    • +1

As mentioned here if you signed up for 12 months they'll wait for the modem before provisioning.
You can call the and ask them not to wait.

I'm not sure if you are on monthly with byo modem, but doesn't hurt to call and ask.

      • Thanks for the reply. Have BYO and they just emailed today to say it's good to go.

  • +1

    Holly shit!
Telecube cut me off even two days earlier than what they said in the email, this is insane!

    • They cut some of us off on Friday, you're actually one of the lucky ones (relatively, none of us are actually lucky here).

      • I should look at the discussions so get Exetel to provision my internet earlier. Now it's a father's day with no internet for me. Curse to Telecube.
