As expected, Dan's has price beat Aldi's $79.99 special.

Shows as $134.99 per bottle for me.
Still showing $79.95 for me. What state are you in and do you have Aldi there? If so, you should be able to get Dan Murphy's to price match the Aldi price in-store anyway
Ah good point, thanks! I'm in SA, and while we do have Aldi they don't sell alcohol. Bummer!
$79.95 for me. I'm in Melbourne - are you perhaps somewhere where there's no Aldi? It also shows the standard (not discounted) price if you haven't let the browser know where you are - ie set your local store and see if the price changes.
Indeed if I change my store to say a Sydney one the price changes. That feels pretty cheap of them.
I wouldn't be too upset about it. This is a "NAS" (No Age Stated) whisky which uses small barrels to speed up the ageing process. I understand this is aged normally for about five years and then moved into the smaller barrels for final maturation. So you get a good flavour, but risk losing some of the complexity you would expect/get from a whisky that has been aged for longer in larger barrels. They also now add caramel dye to darken it ("farven justeret med karamel") which is annoying even if it doesn't impact the flavour. I'd be happy if it was given to me, and I'm not judging those who like it, but even with this discount for the same amount of money I'd personally spend it on something else….. a 10yo Ardbeg, 12yo Caol Ila, or a few more dollars for a 16yo Lagavulin….
I would rather support Aldi.
Dans like Bunnings is just looking after their margin by price beating Aldi deals.
Support the price leaders not the daily robbers.
Exactly this.
But the stock is limited in Aldi
How does this compare to the 10 year ?
See my comment above, but it's a younger (probably about 7 or 8yo) whisky but with a stronger flavour through the more rapid maturation that makes it seem older. Taste is a very subjective thing - it's not bad at all but personally I'd go the 10yo or something else like a 12yo Bowmore or one of the other suggestions I made above. If you want to see some other reviews, including comparisons with the 10yo, check out https://www.masterofmalt.com/whiskies/laphroaig-quarter-caskā¦
I like this one better than the 10 YO
Shows as $134.99 per bottle for me ! I'm in Qld.
Does Aldi sell alcohol in Qld?
Wonder if you could use a VPN to buy from a Sydney location but choose your local Qld pick-up store
Great price for Quarter Cask, my favourite.
Personally like it miles ahead of the 10 year old.
Good price! Havent had the qtr but the 12yr is tops
