  • Apprently you can get it online now. Good price but the model is getting a bit old isn't it??
Was looking at getting Garmin 1390 now not sure, always been using Tom Tom in the past.

    • I like the tomtom quick gps fix updates, I get a fix within less than 10 sec, does garmin have these?

    • If you like using tomotm then you might not like garmin.

I have borrowed a garmin before and i hated using it, the user friendliness on tomtom is a long way ahead of garmin.

  • just ordered 2 and got sms saying can pickup now. Pretty good setup I say. Never used before.
Had Tomtom XL regular but broke the screen so this is a good replacement. Good budget model if you don't need Bluetooth.

    • They have a pickup option? Is that option after you make the payment or before?

  • the email seems to indicate the online version also comes with the bonus case, so it looks like either instore or online includes the bonus case.

  • I was just in DSE and they are already selling it in store :)

  • +1

I got one last time when they were $150 at DSE.
Excellent unit… got four free map updates too.
No cover though. Very cheap for such a good unit.

  • Sorry if im blind, but where does it say free case?

    • nvm, its says it on the catologue

    • When you add it to your cart the case appears.
      From my confirmation email:
      DSAU_D4554 1 x TOMTOM XXL 540 In-Car GPS $149.00
      DSAU_D6700 1 x Dick Smith Neoprene GPS Case $0.00

  • Can you hack these?

  • Would this come pre-loaded with the latest maps, or is it just easy to update these things?

    • It will come loaded with the newest or close to newest maps.
If the maps on the device are not the newest you can update them for free http://www.tomtom.com/latestmap/

They are easy to update, install the software to your PC, click on the update button and wait for the maps to be updated

    • NOTE you will need to pay for updates (other than their latest 30-day one. if not already installed on the device).as the FREE 4-update is no longer available. Usually not cheap, might as well get a new device…

  • I got mine TomTom start for 192 or something. This price is awesome. I highly recommend TomTom navigators to anyone.
They are very good in terms of voice and response.

  • 4 Bonus maps promotion expired on 31 Jan.

  • +2

Picked one up on my way home from work yesterday, Canberra Centre. Gotta say, it's HUGE compared to my XL. They showed me the new models, but I don't need bluetooth and really does voice command EVER work?

    • does voice command EVER work?

      Surprisingly well on my tomtom

  • yeah and don't forget the price differance
i just got 2 of these units, 1 for my mum

  • I am extremely happy with this. I prefer it over the garmin nuvi and my50 navman. Has all the setting tweaks and displays what I want. Absolute bargain!!

  • Appear to be all sold out, hopefully they come up again :(

    • Pretty much sold out nation-wide. But… you can back-order up till 14th March when the promotion ends!

The catch is there is a 4-6 week wait until they're back in stock.
