Also only 2 left in stock from this post.

      • More than 10 available / 2 sold

        • I'm referring to the DWI comment made by kgb007

        • @RichardL: im really off the ball today lol

  • Have the 5 series and it's pretty good.

Only thing I don't like is that being a wet shaver, which I never use, means you can't use it plugged into electricity, so once the battery dies that's it.

  • Anyone use one of these and can compare to philips?

    • I much prefer the Braun, but know others who hate it and use Philips instead.

    • I've used the Braun series 7 and Philips 9000. Stick to Braun

  • +1

series7 is the best. series9 has no advantage over it, just some marketing hype. also, new cutter heads will be harder to get. get series7 instead, they can be had for under $200 when on special.

    • just for the record, I bought my series7 shaver exactly one year ago for $199 from Myer eBay

it is an amazing shaver for my supersensitive (rabbit) skin, and is still working quick on original shaver head.

I have a both 7 and 9, thought and was hoping 9 has better performance, but turn out to be 7 better for me.

  • Thanks all. Has anyone bought it at or seen a lower price from an Aussie retailer apart from DWI?

  • I bought the series 7 for 239 delivered minus the cleaning station which, didn't feel it was worth the 49 dollars the black model looks better

  • Also a thumb up for 7 series here

  • I've had various Braun clean and charge shavers and they do a good job but I found that the foil and cutter set needs replacing significantly more frequently than the suggested 18 months and they cost ~$89, probably cheaper if you buy online but when you break these things you need a replacement ASAP.

The cleaning cartridges last about a month and cost about $10ea, you need to keep some on hand though as half the time when you need a replacement they are out of stock at the usual stores.

Another issue I've had with these is that the trimmer seems to get worse with every model, the newer ones you end up having to hold the unit at such an angle that you can't see what you're trimming.

    Anyway that's my 2c…
If you choose to buy one of these I'd recommend you stock up on cleaning cartridges and buy at least one foil and cutter set to keep on hand for when you need it.

    • Making your own cleaning fluid is dead easy. And yes, having a spare cassette is always wise.

      • Do tell…

        • I just googled it, there's a few pages out there. I made a HEAP. It's mostly isopropyl alcohol with some shampoo and food colouring in it, IIRC. Just clean out the old cartridge thoroughly and put the new fluid in.

          OK, found it.

          Shaver cleaner (Makes 1019mls, 6 x 170ml cartridges refills)

          Ingredients

          95% Isopropyl alcohol - 950 ml

          Distilled water - 60ml

          Baby oil - 2ml

Clear liquid shampoo - 12 drops

          Lemon essential oil - 7ml

Add lemon oil & baby oil to clear methylated spirits (tip 50ml out first) mix by shaking until it is well mixed. In another container mix shampoo with Luke warm water. Slowly add water/shampoo mix to ethanol mix keeping the new mix clear (it may go cloudy for a brief moment then back to clear)

        • @Mic Cullen:

Nice… I'll have to give it a go.
I have in the past tried to clean out the cartridges and fill them with metho but I wasn't very successful in cleaning the cartridge, would probably be better if I'd been rinsing the shaver under the tap before I whacked it on the cleaner but when you've got a clean and charge shaver that's not something you usually think to do.
I'll see if I can keep the next cartridge fairly free of heavy hair.

@ToobsAU: I always take the cassette off and bang it on the shower floor a few times before putting it back in the cleaning station.

To clean the cartridge, I usually just run water through it in each direction, and shake it around a bit when it's about half full of cleaning water. Doesn't take too long, usually.

Also, keep the sealing caps so you can seal it up when refilled if not using it immediately (I've got two cartridges).
