I bought this exact item from Masters a few years ago for even cheaper than this.

It's quite flimsy, pretty tacky-looking, and massively overpriced from those other retailers.

    • Would you sit on it? or is too flimsy for that.

      • +10

Definitely do not sit on this… way too flimsy.

So it would just be an ugly box-o-crap on my veranda, thanks you saved me a trip to Bunnings.

        • +1

That's crazy, was about to go to Bunnings and buy it, but must be very poor quality if you can't even sit on it!

      • +1

I have a couple of these I'm 110kg can sit and n them no issues at all.

saved me a trip, thanks bud.

    • Agreed - we've got a Keter storage cupboard and the quality just isn't what I expected, especially for the price it was at.

I'm keen to see if the Lifetime versions are more durable. We've got Lifetime kiddie chairs from Costco and they've gone through every sort of weather (and the kids) and still going strong.

      • Lifetime tables (for reference sake) are bulletproof, though the flip side of that is you often wish they were lighter. However some of the hardware (such as the clips that retain the legs in a folded position) is a bit iffy.

    • Yeah, I have one.

Certainly not worth it at full price, too flimsy for an adult to sit on it with any confidence.

While it stores stuff, I wish I'd spent more for better build quality.

    • That is surprising. I have bought some excellent Keter products.

  • Wondering whether it is large enough to store small mower?

    • yes for some small electric mower, no for any petrol mower.

      • +2

OK mine is small wired electric mower, may have to measure it to check.

I always want to have somewhere outside to store them away from my garage, setup shed is a bit too complicated.

      • Nup… useless for even an electric mower.

My Ryobi One mower (which is a pretty small mower!) doesn't even fit in this thing!
Length and Width isn't a problem, but even with the handles folded down the bar is still higher than 575mm.

  • is aldi having a similar sale on similar item and that's why bunning dropped their price?

Costco have a 578l one with hydraulic rams for $199

I have another filmsy one from OzPlazaliving at ebay. They are not good, but at least I could free some space inside my unit an place the storage box at the garden in front.

    • Those boxes at ozplazaliving are worse quality compared to Keter. I bought one of those similar to Ozplazaliving from eBay and the top warp, and the plastic feels more brittle. While for the Keter one I bought from bunnings in a previous deal, The cover and plastic is still good.

Can anybody recommend an outdoor storage box that's weatherproof and durable?

    • get some fence pickets and build one yourself?

    • See my comments above

  • Can this be used indoors too?

Bought a few keter last deal @$39 each https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/293000

Thought it would be a great storage/seat option around the sides of the deck.

Confirming it ‘holds’ two large guys seated on it (roughly 200kg) although we didn’t feel safe… also as a permanent seat option, the knee to floor distance is little high compared to normal chair

The one issue is the lid hinge is very easy to break.. but keeps my charcoal dry and party plates plastic cups etc dust free.

But overall I’m happy with the box and considering to get some of the cushions Aldi has for deck chairs next time to dress it up.

Decided to pick it up after all. It's not on the same level quality wise as the costco one (or the $200 ones at Bunnings), but that's probably fair enough. For storing some cushions and toys under cover on al fresco, it's perfectly fine.

It's rated for 200kg top load, but that's probably pushing it. For one person (90kg) it's fine. If you want it to double as a bench regularly I'd probably get a more expensive one, but for $50 it's pretty good value.

No idea how it will hold up long term though. Guess we'll see.

EDIT: packing away box, I did notice that next to the 200kg top load symbol, there was also a symbol showing that you should not sit on it. Just FYI. But yeah, for some storage and occasional sitting it's fine, but as a bench I'd get one of the proper ones

  • I have two Lifetime 130 Gallon boxes and also a 400 ish one from Bunnings which might be a Keter.

The Lifetime ones have small gas hinges and are extremely sturdy. The Keter one is very light with some flex in the walls. The Lifetime ones are in full sun about half a day (pool area) and show no signs of UV fade or deterioration after about four years. The Keter one is under shade and only owned for about a year so I can't compare that aspect.

The Lifetime ones are so much better, but cost a whole lot more.

Would a corpse fit in this?

      Asking for a friend?

      • +3

        Nah their friend is dead.

    • +2

Possibly, however it voids the lifetime warranty.
