Disclaimer: I got this code from Thorfire rep via BLF to share here, so I decided to tick the box saying I am associated with the store or product. I paid money for this light and I am super happy with it thus now I am sharing it here with you guys.

Unfortunately it doesn't yet come as a kit with light, charger and battery, so I still recommend Panasonic protected 18650's and Xtar chargers.

Super happy with mine, looks mean and is pretty much as bright as you get for a single XPL2 LED torch.
Really nice 4500k tint on this light too, meaning it's not cool white and washing out all the colours in shades of grey.

A few pro's and con's:

Pros,
- Very Bright! Definitely peaks over 1,000 Lumens.
- Good range of mode options with nice spacing.
- Heat Management on high is very good.
- Excellent quality
Cons
- Not perfectly stable when tail standing.
- Lacking lanyard
- May be a little large for people wanting to carry around in pocket

Can you get a BLF Q8 for $39?

    • I want to get a code for that light, but I don't think it will get much interest here (as amazing as it is, I own 2 of them)
Problem is it requires 4 batteries and a 4 bay charger (Thorfire only have 1 bay chargers)
Kit lights sell much better and are much more popular here on OzBargain it seems.

Sorry bro but disagree with you there. OzBargainers love their shiny (torches), especially when the price is right.
Just saw a thread the other day with members who were disappointed the BLF Q8s were currently selling for much more than the $39 basic unit that was advertised here recently.
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/392606

Most people here have shucked laptop batteries and/or Cordless Batteries from Aldi and smart chargers, or have bought/do buy 18650s from ebay.

As for chargers, even my humble Liitokala Lii-402 (<$10 when on special) can charge 4x18650 at the same time.

      • Problem is it requires 4 batteries and a 4 bay charger

That's misleading. The Q8 works on 1, 2, 3 or 4 batteries as they are configured in parallel.

Although I run mine on 4 Samsung 30Q button tops, you can definitely just use 1 or 2 if you want to save some weight or don't have enough batteries.

      • Add me to the list of folk wanting a code for a BLF Q8. My Klarus G35 is getting lonely…

  • Hey Ben these are awesome lights for the best out put i would use a high drain cell seeing as on turbo it uses a FET mine does around 6+amps with spring bypasses front and back. You should be able to eke out about 1600-1700 lumen from this light no problem.

As for the Q8 i dont recommend any one without knowledge of lithium cells to use one Just my opinion.

    • I agree 100%, but most here aren't as knowledgeable as we are, so I recommend protected batteries. Personally I have a 30Q in my one :-)

      • I had 4 x Imalent MRB-186P30 in my Q8. Put some Sony VCT6 in last night and got 20% lumen boost by my rough ceiling bounce test. Got some 30Q's coming next week.

        • 30Q's will show (possibly) a teeny tiny drop in performance, can't get much better high drains than the VTC6's

  • Lionheart, you are fast becoming the torchlight guy here in this forum.
    Keep it up!

Hahaha I intend to! I hate seeing all these deals for $3 torches with rubbish blue emitters that run off AAA's!

from amazon (is this easy i dont know how to jump)

Excellent light. Draws about 2200 mAh on high so it’s a little less than 1000 lumens, but it’s so easy to fix that. There is a large current limiting resistor you can jump and that brings up to 3000 mAh. Unscrew the tube from the top and unscrew the copper ring that holds the circuit board in place. The copper ring is reverse threaded so turn to the right to loosen. Jump the largest resistor you see and this flashlight really comes to life.

    • Do you know if my VG15S can do similar hack?

  • when you gonna get some good Olight/Fenix/Streamlight deals?

    • Check out Catch. They have some decent Olights from time to time.

    • No Australian warranty through Aliexpress

      • Prob can buy 2 from Ali express for the price of warranty postage back to seller.

    • -1

haha over $17 usd with poor conversion rate and up to 49 days postage approx $6 dollar saving (unless prime free delivery works) and long wait and no warranty

      poor use of a neg

      • Cheaper = neg. Simple as that. This is OzBargain, not OzINeedItNow.

Warranty is AliExpress and usually pretty good. Like plague69 said, can buy a second one for the cost it would cost to send the first back to Amazon + the original difference. On top of that I've never had a package take more than a month to arrive.

I’m keen as soon as they offer something in a high CRI.

  • I too am keen for a code on the BLF Q8 for $39 as it has been previously. I already own one, would love a second one. I bought my Samsung 30Q cells from here:
https://www.banggood.com/4PCS-Samsung-INR18650-30Q-3000mAh-U… and a charger I use and recommend which is currently cheaper than usual is this: https://www.banggood.com/XTAR-VC4-LCD-Screen-USB-Battery-Cha…

These come to under $60AUD shipped (banggood also have cashrewards but it varies) which means one can get a full set of batteries, decent charger (which charges many battery types including aa and aaa in any combination) for potentially under $100AUD if the Q8 for $39 code comes back.

  • FOR ANYONE AFTER A Q8 FOR $39AUD, this was their reply:

"As to the $39 AUD BLF Q8 is an operation error. The system still showed the 25% off promo code on listing while having a 25% off lightning deal. We made a big loss at this price $39. So this would not happen again. But we do like suggestion from your side"

So, I'm sorry guys, but if you're waiting for it to drop to $39 again before buying you might be waiting a while lol! Sorry, don't shoot the messenger!!!
