Ozito Power X Change Cordless Mower Kit - $99 (was $299) @ Bunnings Morwell (VIC)

1190

Saw this while walking through Bunnings in Morwell today. Seems like a pretty good price, didn't grab one myself but there was quite a few left. Not sure if it's nationwide as it's still $249 on the website - https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-power-x-change-2-x-18v-cor…

Kit includes the mower, 2x fast chargers and 2x 18V 2Ah batteries.

  • 2x 18V 2Ah batteries.

Doesn't it need both to run?

    2Ah

I doubt it will run for long…

    • +10

Yes it does. I have the one spec up from this model and it came with 2x 4Ah batteries and I can get 2-3 cuts from one charge but it depends on the size of your lawn, mines not that big (that's what she said).

      • +2

your batteries have twice the charge though…

so this will only get through a small lawn before requiring recharge then…

        • -2

But you get two batteries so you can swap batteries before you need to recharge.

        • +3

          @spaceflight:

so you can swap batteries before you need to recharge.

It's a 36V mower, what are you going to swap with???

        • +41

          @jv: a petrol mower

        • your batteries have twice the charge though…

so this will only get through a small lawn before requiring recharge then…

Yep, you might get one mow before needing to charge, so people with large lawns should avoid this deal.

Edit - actually I regret buying mine as I need a cordless nailer but Ozito don't make one, I should have got the Ryobi mower for the same price then I could buy their nailer and share the batteries. Oh well.

        • +1

          @onetwothree:
Wait, when was the ryobi mower $99???

        • You wouldn't buy a mower like this for a large lawn.
My last lawn was `200sqm and even with a 17" cut Honda it took forever. The Ozito is only 13" so you'd only use it on 100sqm of lawn at most unless you want to spend all day mowing..

        • @stumo: it wasn't, it was $399 which was the same price as the Ozito mower I bought.

      • How long does the charge last?

    • +6

Have you ever posted a comment that doesn't include a bolded word?

      • +3

The real question is have they ever posted a comment that isn't rude or snarky.

  • +5

Seems like a good deal especially if you already have batteries and chargers from compatible ozito equipment. Batteries and chargers would cost that alone.

  • +1

Wow, that's a stellar deal. My Ozito cordless is going strong. Can anyone confirm if other stores are participating?

    cheers

    • How long it can run per charge?

      • I use the 4ah batteries and probably get 35-40 minutes. Lawn isn’t too thick.

    • They had several on clearance at Bunnings East Gosford on Saturday, but I think they were $129. Not sure if there are any left.

      • Computer says NO

  • +9

I grabbed one today from the Kotara NSW store, same price, so it possibly is nation wide.

Did a surprisingly decent job. My grass was a little overgrown and for the most part it chewed through it ok. A few times it bogged down and I had to go over it.

With the stops and starts I'd estimate it lasted 20 or 25 mins which was enough to get most of my lawn done. For $100 if you don't have a lot of lawn and you mow often I would recommend.

      • +7

        Ok, Holly

      • +1

        Seriously?

      • +3

You should know better than to try to shame a man about the size of his lawn. Very hurtful.

    • +3

could u upload the receipt, want to price match at my local store.

      • +2

Bunnings don't tend price match other Bunnings stores.

        • -1

Yes they do I have no trouble getting things at Bunnings as a price match
From another store I just show picture of clearance item or receipt
I was told by a lot of store managers that it’s there policy as long as u have proof

        • +1

surely they'll beat it by 10%

        • +2

@Dex38313: it is a hit and miss. I tried one store said no but another said yes.

        • @Dex38313:

Not necessarily, clearances can be circumstancial and unique to a particular store.

      • +1

I didn't have time last night sorry, but I'll scan and upload one tonight after work on the off chance that it helps someone. Sounds like Bunnings know that the prices are $99 at some stores but are refusing to price match anyway.

Still…hopefully it works for you. Can't hurt to try, right?

        • Hi apat any chance you've uploaded the receipt yet? Cheers mate

        • +2

My receipt. Apologies for the delay. Hopefully it helps someone.

        • @apat:

          You bought two mowers ???

    • +2

I've just been to Campbelltown NSW store this afternoon, definitely not nationwide.

    • Was there many left?

    • 20-25 mins isnt very long. How long does it take to recharge?

      • +1

        That's what she said…

For some perspective I'd say keep in mind two things:
        - the bigger batteries regularly on special, thanks Aldi (only worth it perhaps if you own other skins)
        - people said the same about Dyson stick vacs but they've done alright still

        • Houses usually arent as big as yards

        • +6

@asa79: You're right - Nowadays the yards are much smaller than houses.

        • @Nukkels:

You're right. Those small yards these days you could mow in under 20 minutes.

The older houses have much bigger yards.

Over here in this old estate the yard is about 3 times as bigger than the house is. There's no way that this mower on charge would even do half the yard before running out of power. That's where a good old petrol mower comes in handy.

Otherwise these electric powered mowers are only designed for small yards.

      • I have a 1x 2ah and 2x 4ah and they don't take long in the whole scheme of things, although that's with the fast charger
pretty sure it was quicker than the stated time below.
        Charge Time:
        1.5Ah Battery = 30min - 2.0Ah Battery = 40min - 3.0Ah Battery = 60min - 4.0Ah Battery = 80min - 5.2Ah Battery = 105min,

I already have 1 x fast charger , it works well, and most of their kits only come with a single slow or a single fast charger, they need to update their kits that need dual battery packs with a dual port fast charger like on their Jet Blower kit it comes with 2 x 3ah and 1 x double port fast charger.

    • How low this thing can cut? I had an very old model it just wont cut very low even on the lowest settings

      • I'll check when I get home, but from memory it has a few different height settings, starting from 30, 35, 40, etc. I assume this is a guide to the height in millimetres.

For what it was worth I found the lowest height setting to be too low, and run it on the 2nd lowest.

  • Wow that's a fantastic price!

I'm just sticking to my manual hand mower though as I don't mind the exercise

    • Manual? I have one long time a ago, find that can't mow at all if the grass just a bit longer.

      • +1

Yeah you need to mow weekly or at least fortnightly else it won't work

  • Good price, Has anyone ever used experience?

    • I've got one, I'm happy with it. Slightly narrower than my 4 stroke mower but much lighter and a fair but quieter. I probably only use it for 20 mins at a time. Recharged the batteries after about 4 mows. They weren't flat, the gauge thing said 2/3.

  • How do ozito products compare to Ryobi one in general wrt quality eg rechargeable hedge trimmer

    • +1

Similar. Ryobi is Chinese owned now.

  • Crazy price. I was going to pick one up second hand last year for $180

  • anyone know what is the main difference between the model Op has indicated versus this one?
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-power-x-change-18v-cordles…
I know the bin size is different and all.

The cost is quite different between the two.

    • different cutting width
      different capacity batteries

    • 4.0Ah

Just buy 2 $99 ones lol extra batterys

      • -1

        They're only 2Ah…

You must be a Victorian teacher.

        • -1

You must be a Victorian teacher.

          Thank Dan for that…

        • @jv: that was an issue long before the Andrews era. Nice try, though.

    • +1

this Brushless one now as well. but skin only
      https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-power-x-change-2-x-18v-bru…

      • This one sounds much more capable, and makes me think that the other models were getting returned because of short run time or insufficient power, As this one can take 4 batteries, and brushless = more power and/or longer duration for the same battery.
Brushless use rare earth magnets though, so highly unlikely to ever be as cheap as in the current deal.

  • hope it's same price in Adelaide, will have a look tomorrow

    • +10

hope it's same price in Adelaide

Not many good Power deals there the last couple of weeks.

    • +2

      mile end - none
      Woodville - normal price

      • +2

I rang two other stores - no change in price either.

        • +1

Thanks for saving me the legwork

        • which ones did you check?

        • @buneyha:

I was driving past Bunnings Mt Barker yesterday and theirs were still over $200

        • @Squeezy:

          Seaford store had none.

Noarlunga if you speak to the area manager, he may be able to cut you a deal. You need to go in store though. He seems to work around 7-3 which is roughly the time I work so when I came in to speak to him nothing could be done.

    • +3

Can confirm they are still $249 at Mile End, Prospect and Kent Town but there marked on their systems for some reason so I'll call back in a couple days and check again

      • any update?

  • +2

Well spotted OP. If I find one it will be a good gift for someone.

    • +4

will be a good gift for someone

      The wife?

      • My wife would love this as a present.

Fingers crossed it's at my local for this price.

        • +1

Is she on ozbargain? Is her username grasswoman?

Maybe she'll buy you a chainsaw, treeman.

      • +3

        A gift, not a swap.

  • I have the corded one (I think there were two sizes. I have the bigger). It's actually pretty good. You get the knack of avoiding the cord and even if you do go over it, if it's down on the ground you just run straight over (though I wouldn't tempt fate). Reasonably powerful and very light. Very cheap.

    • -1

      there were two sizes

      2-stroke and 4-stroke ?

      • +1

        Different strokes for different folks…

      • I think I would need about 40 strokes.

      • I believe it have two fields, Mr. jv

  • I have the entry level Ryobi cordless mower (36v I think) would this thing be comparable or better?

My Ryobi will not do my front, back, nature strip on one charge. Not if the grass is long at all.

    • +5

A perennial issue for the sack, back and crack.

      • +1

        Comment of the day, easily.

    • +1

Ryobi also has 5Ah batteries though (2 of those will cost more than the mower…). Those will go for about an hour, even in thick grass.

      • +1

        Ozito has 5.2 Ah batteries

  • Wow great deal. Probably would've scooped this up even though I don't have any backyard to mow (ala the unused push mower).

Maybe I can use it cut my neighbours grass …

  • Do you need a mover for that?

  • +1

3 year warranty on the batteries and chargers (and 5 years on the mower) - nice!

AMAZING PRICE. I paid 399 for the next model up and it's been really good. It's very light and I've been able to get the whole house (front and back) done without needing to recharge. My batteries are 2x 4AH but I've still had more than half charge. Really wish I had waited an extra 6 months now

    • +11

ur grass will look crazy after six month waiting

      • I had another mower which I'd use. Darn, that's 300 I could've used.

Just a bit more feedback for those on the fence.

Honestly, I've been really impressed with the 399 model which is essentially the same model with larger batteries and a plastic catcher. It's quite light compared to a Petrol mower and the rubberised grips are easy on the hands (this is the biggest positive). I found it quieter than the petrol mower I had previously too.

The only negative and this is a nitpick is the adjustment for height is a bit stiff but it could just be my fault. That's it.

        • +1

Someone saying it's not nationwide so you might not have been able to get this anyway!

Good to hear your feedback though. The hard plastic catcher is a major plus, does anyone like cloth catchers - I definitely don't on my current mower.

        • I find the same thing, adjusting the height is a bit of a hassle, also when sometimes when Im trying to turn it the handle on one side moves up or down so I have to adjust it to match the other side. Other than that it's a great mower but it's the only one I've owned so nothing to compare it to.

        • I cant seem to find any details on what kind of cutting blade are Ozito mowers using?
Can you give any feedback on this?

  • Can you mix and match the batteries? Can I use a 4Ah and a 2Ah battery together?

    • Yeah I don’t see why not. Same voltage, so it would run as though it’s a smaller battery overall.
