    are these a necessity in all parts of Australia
    I know they said surges were frequent in my days there

    also since they have a twelve month warranty, do they need to be replaced after a certain period of time

    Be aware that at my local, it was still advertised at the standard price of $56, but scanned up at the reduced price listed by OP.

    It might have just been that particular store, or perhaps it's not being advertised, but either way it should scan at the reduced price and if it doesn't, show them the online price and the staff will match it.
