    Amazing game.
God what I would give to forget it and play it again for the first time!

Playing it through for the third time now…and I'm a cynical old fart who's been playing games since text-based Zork came out on the Apple 2C. Great game. Looking forward to the TV show, hopefully they wont stuff it up.

I finished my second playthrough two days ago. In the following time till today I tried to play both Witcher 1 and 2 but god the gameplay of those two is so awful. Gonna do what I did before which is watch some recap videos and start my third playthrough this time :D Gonna try and go for a sign heavy build instead of attack+cat school gear which is what I did last time round.

Great game, but performance is pretty awful on a regular PS4

    • Could you elaborate further on this?
Im contemplating playing this on my normal PS4 or wait until I buy a Pro

Is there much of a difference in performance between the normal PS4 and the Pro with this game?
It doesnt seem to say Pro enhanced on the back of my game case

      • I don't have a Pro, but I have played it on a good PC.

Frame rate is very low even just wandering around, and tanks even further in combat with lots of enemies. I think the Pro has a boost mode that improves performance even on games that aren't designed for it.

  • How's performance on a Ps4 pro 4 on a 1080p TV?

    • Pretty much completely locked at 30fps apparently

  • So … Worth buying if you have a PS4 pro or not ?

    • If you have 4k tv and pro it is worth playing on ps4 pro. Ive recently played about half an jour on ps4 pro with 50inch 4k tv it was great. Reasons £'m not playing anymore are, I ve played on ps4 long ago, and I can run native 4k 30 fps with better graphic setting on my Pc.
But im too lazy to connect my pc to the 4k tv…
Anyway, i higjly recommend if you have 4k tv.
Some loan shops in Sydney they sell the wjtcher 3 goty edition for $15.

Honestly it runs better on even an average PC. I wish consoles would prioritise FPS over graphics, or at least give the option to do so.

  • It's not on PC, but if you're a PS4 Pro owner, and you haven't played it before, this is a must-own.

    • lolwut why exclude normal PS4 users? Does that mean those users should see it as an unnecessary purchase?

      • Works fine and looks good on normal PS4. Great price.

No problem on regular PS4, but the Pro version is beautiful. If you don't care as much about framerate, no problem.

    • It's not on PC?

  • Do you need to play the first two to understand the story?
Or can you just play this as your first Witcher game?

Already have the game at home but have yet to open it lol, waiting to buy both a Pro and an oled 4K tv.

No need to play them but I would highly recommend watching a recap video or two on YouTube so you can at least understand who's who and what's what.

Hey guys, looking for some guidance.

I used to be into D&D as a kid, loved Diablo, liked Skyrim (although only played 10% or so).

I played the Witcher 3 demo and it just didn't grab me. I'm considering giving it another go though, although I have a very bad habit of buying games and never playing them (exhibit A - my huge amount of unplayed games).

This quote from Reddit is really making me want to push the button on this:

"I've been playing videogames since the Atari 2600. I have reviewed over 600 games professionally, and I actually consult on videogames for a living.

The Witcher 3 may very well be my favorite game of all time.

It's not the easiest to get into; it's so enormous that it can be daunting. I actually put it down for a few months because I was feeling overwhelmed. (I was trying to be too careful, and I ended up overleveling a bit and had a lot of side quests that I wasn't going to get much from.) But when it grabs you—oh my.

Of course there are things to complain about, like in any game. But Wild Hunt is such a masterpiece that it's set a near-impossible bar for any future RPGs to reach. If you can even remotely stand fantasy-themed action-RPGs you'll be blown away. At $25 the experience-to-price ratio approaches infinity."

Tbh I will never consider the witcher 3 action or normal third person rpg game. I would say the witcher 3 is open world graphic novel, interative movie, or telltale genre.
Witcher 3 has very generic boring combat and long ass dialogue. I felt like 70% of the game was about speaking with NPCs. That being said, if you like reading or watching fantasy fiction, you will like it.

      • Thanks, I thought as much. It seems like the type of game you need to commit a fair bit of time to otherwise you lose track of the story. I enjoy the 'playable movie' type games, like the Last of Us / Until Dawn / Heavy Rain etc, but unsure if I can commit the time.

      • Combat is not boring. It's just that most people don't know the game and prefer to hold mouse1 instead of using sign/alchemy builds.

  • Hi guys.. the the witcher 3: wild hunt is available for $18 at ps store. . I am new to RPG games and witcher series. . havn't been a big fan of RPG games previously. . is is worth paying extra bucks for the GOTY edition or just the wild hunt will do? I just want to try how this game is as I have heard real good reviews about it. . Thanks!
