PENNY5

Kathmandu Winter Clearance Sale is on their ebay store & in local outlets too. I know winter is almost over but I guess still few weeks or a month to go.

Get additional 5% off with Original PENNY5 5% off Sitewide on eBay Deal Post but beware of returns policy on their ebay store (returns / exchange, may not be very smooth).

Some facts about the ebay store(i learned it the hard way):

  • Returns & cancellations seems to be a big hassle (currently going back and forth on cancellation for my jumper) so make sure you only choose correct item, color, size etc. Some items may change price when you add it to the cart &/or select different color / size so review your order very carefully if you found something useful.
  • Even if ebay policy allows you to cancel order (within 1 hour) the seller somehow marks it as posted immediately so can't be cancelled without going through hassle of returns and lot of drama unfortunately.
  • Though the store claims to be official one, items purchased from this ebay store can't be returned to nearest Kathmandu shop. Not sure why. Looks bit strange to me.

don't forget to review your order carefully in the cart before paying to avoid any unwanted surprises.

      Very

    • +2

I agree. Most of them still are but you never know what one may find useful there. Especially, if it was on the cards and just happen to stumble upon this link.

    • hi…

    • i read that a lot.'it's overpriced even in the sales'
What I don't see is what alternative is recommended?

  • +1

    https://makeameme.org/meme/kathmandu-jackets-as

Great….there's gonna be more out in the wild on the streets of Melbourne…and in the standard black

    • I think we should be more worried about the David Jones clearance sale

    • +2

The standard black with the green liner? They were EVERYWHERE when I was in Melbourne a few weeks ago, and now they've spread to Canberra :'(

      • +1

Yup. I also notice them everywhere in Melbourne.

  • +2

Same hooded long sleeve hoodie jumper here for $20 delivered instead of kathmandu $50 delivered, sorry I'll miss the great kathmandu logo: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Gildan-Contrast-Heavy-Blend-Hood…

    • Just out of curiosity… these shirts and pants that are the quick-dry/easy care/easy pack type - are there cheaper ones out there? Surely if there are close alternatives like this hoodie.

    • +1

Exactly the reason why I hate shopping at Kathmandu. Even with their sales, they are a rip off.

    • +6

How can you say they are the same hoodie except one doesn't have the logo?

Are all hoodies alike except for the logo and price?

Kathmandu mens one seems to be

      Main: 61% Cotton 39% Polyester
      Lining: 100% Cotton

      Weight 500g

      Ebay mens (unisex?) one says

      Material: 50% cotton/50% polyester
      Weight: 271 GSM

That's a big difference. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong ones to compare. Apologies in advance if I'm wrong

      • -4

Good point but I had no time nor wish to search for the exact same product made of the same material, but as an ozbargainer I look at the bargain so 50% cotton is ok for me when I can save $30 versus a $50 priced item.
Also in my opinion kathmandu is not the best beat for ozbargainers because they are always over priced since their primary goal is to sell a brand name not a product.

        • +6

People buy the Kathmandu stuff because, depending on the item in question, it's meant to be better suited for cold/wet/outdoor conditions than just regular hoodies/jackets/etc. It may be overpriced, I can't argue that. But people buy it for the utility first

        • This is a such a boomer comment.

        • 🤔

Perfect example of comparing Apple and oranges that.

    • +6

Yea - not really comparing apples to apples here. Not all clothes are th same. Just like not all phones are he same. Not all cars are the same. Etc etc

Kathmandu is overpriced but a generic product from big w does not equal a Kathmandu top.

      • -3

not really comparing apples to apples here

The equivalent item from BigW would only cost $10, apples with apples LOL

        • The eBay jumper you linked to is comparable to a big w generic one. That would be apples with apples

        • @flashi007:

The eBay jumper you linked to is comparable to a big w generic one

          1) That was already discussed above and clarified.
          2) You pretended to compare a bigw product to kathmandu product for you apple with apple personal theory then you neg me for linking a product cheaper than kathmandu which is much better than a bigw one.
Keep negging and enjoy your fun life.

        • @dealhunt: What the hell are you talking about?

    • I'm pretty happy with my $40 down jacket from Aldi.

    • Though the store claims to be official one, items purchased from this ebay store can't be returned to nearest Kathmandu shop. Not sure why. Looks bit strange to me.

Doesn't sound strange to me. For a large store, Kathmandu has a crappy returns policy. e.g no returns allowed for change of mind if you buy in store. You can only swap for another item or get store credit and even then you only have 3 weeks to return it.

    • didn't know their in-store return policy is crappy too. as per the return policy on their website, change-of-mind seems to be allowed except for base layer items which seems like pretty standard exclusion? having said that, i ain't no expert in interpreting t&c fineprint details. are you saying that they denied refund for non base layer apparel/ item purchased in-store? that would be shocking to know. but yes i kinda agree the return policy seems bit weird when it comes to how the product was purchased not sure why that matters to them. it sounds as if customer convenience is secondary to their operational convenience.

personally, i had a very bad experience with them both in-store & ebay store (and hence put a big disclaimer note in the post). the price on red colored jumper was showing as $40 few times but was at full price $100 when i added it to cart. so i tried to go to local store and surprisingly they refused to match it saying our system doesn't show this price and as the difference is significant, we can't give it at that price. but i thought that was one-off system glitch wherein price in local store was out of sync with so called "official store" on ebay. i did put a big disclaimer above on carefully reviewing the order and ensure you don't have to go through returns / refunds hassles in original post for same reason.

      • has similar problem with tgg and returning an online purchase from ebay to instore ….i think it’s due to them using different systems for dispatch and refunds on ebay vs their normal store transactions and how they integrate.

also ebay is geared up towards returns done via post, they have tracking number, in store return there is no tracking number which was a hassle with tgg transaction …..it’s just a broken process flow that will one day be fixed …. i did get refund but took about an extra 10 days instead of about 3 days had i posted.

      • The policy is somewhat hidden in their website but, basically, if you buy in store you can't return for a refund. Only exchange or store credit.

Change of mind for in-store purchases
If you change your mind on an item purchased in-store, you can exchange this for another item (subject to stock availability) or receive a Kathmandu Credit Voucher to the value of the purchased goods. All returns of goods purchased in-store must be made in person at one of our stores.

        • This is terrible

  • +2

Charge you for click and collect $10 if less than $30 ordered. I won’t be ordering now.

  • +1

    Mountain designs closed down…..

    Kathmandu shortly after?

    • there is a bit of consolidation happening ….macpac have been taken over by rays

the adventure life style market is a bit full as are people’s wardrobes as apartments and houses get smaller, almost like the active wear market, we don’t have that many gyms or people exercising but the stuff is everywhere, rebel, kmart, big w target,

    • Look at kathmandu’s Share performance over the couple of years and then tell me if they are gonna close down or not….

  • Ordered one for 60 and got free delivery for eBay plus. I should be able to return it for free. Correct me if I am wrong?

    • yep free return with ebay plus, they have various parcel point locations, wrap it up, put on the label, drop it off and they refund.

DONT exchange for other size get refund and buy again with other size, ebay isn’t geared up for exchanges only refunds ….tried to send back an item twice and their system couldn’t handle it for free postage 2nd time ….paypal refunded postage 2nd time.

      • Interesting. Any pointers / feedback on how PayPal refund works in terms of process and timeline etc? Unfortunately, my ebay plus trial had ended so not covered for free returns from ebay. But i used paypal so might be an option to consider. Dont really wanna pay $100 for $40 item for someone else's system glitches :-)
        Thanks in advance.

        • I just did an ebay plus return. It generates a parcel point return label for you and you nominate a pick up day. For me it was a couriers plus delivery guy. The system allows 3 days for them to give you the refund upon them receiving the package. When i did my return they didn't give a refund so i got ebay to step in and they approved a refund within a few hours. Pretty good process so far. Good enough to keep the ebay plus membership.

  • +2

So they've gone from extremely overpriced, down to still a bit overpriced? Not impressed.

  • +1

    Ah so the normal prices

  • That code though…? 🤔

  • +1

No deal, Kathmandu is on sale/on clearance 365days a year, this is just their normal price.

  • +1

I am a fan of their clothing but not a fan of the price of their clothing!

Last time my missus bought me a down jacket at 50% off RRP I was filthy even when I didn't pay for it! Also I bought a pair of boots from an UK online store for $120 when it was selling at K for $300($100 discounted from the $400 RRP!).

    • You give away your money for their brand name and to pay for their branches' high expenses.

    • +1

Be grateful you got a nice missus mate and stop being filthy.

  • PENNY5….tf

  • Only time I got something from Kathmandu was because a friend worked there and I had 70% or 80% off.

  • As much as people hate kathmandu, they are literally anywhere everywhere I go. For example on my way to uni(I’m in Melbourne if your wondering) to the City literally one in three people are wearing those Kathmandu jackets. They have gone so popular past few months.

I can comfortably say for Melbourne at least Kathmandu jackets are more popular than the north face/macpac atm. It’s like the trend everyone is wearing them in winter…..

I’m not sure about other states but for Melbourne definitely it’s very popular right now.

    • -3

to the City literally one in three people are wearing those Kathmandu jackets

Wrong way to do a marketing research….. you don't consider especially Asian students (also tourists too) almost all of them wear fake brand clothes guess why….. they can buy in their hometowns for a few pennies.

      • +1

        Penny5?

      • not just in the city, they are popular anywhere….. went to fountain gate shopping centre i see lots of ppl wearing them too, and also i work front at hungry jacks a lot of customers that come in they all wear it too

  • +1

Though KMD products r fairly good quality . .. there is no doubt that prices r over the moon though. . Whether it be on sale or on clearance or on Summit club deals…
to support my claim .. know this.. their friends n family voucher promo gets u upto 85% off on RRP or 30% off on their super cheap clearance lines.. and even on this.. KMD makes over 60% profit.

So Yes.. the prices r inflated by huge… however if u can afford it then the quality is good too.

  • +1

Not a real sale. Kathmandu has sales all year round. None of those items have ever been sold at rrp price

    • I wish that was the case. Unfortunately, i ended up paying full price just last weekend for the red jumper and now looking for options to cancel it with minimal damage.
Maybe they have frequent sales because everyone knows its fairly overpriced but the list might differ with season and given that winter isnt really over just yet, it may be worthwhile for someone out here?

      • How was it unfortunate? You chose to buy at full price despite their sales every other week?

  • Another opportunity to buy the flavour of the week

Since the last sale few weeks ago every third person wearing a kathmandu jacket at the shopping mall now has the black puffer long sleeve jacket with light green inner lining

  • are the hoodies any good? warm?

    • +1

i have one and i can definately say it definately keeps u warm in this kind of weather….

  • Plus vote just for your Facts
