How Much Money Must I Spend to Get Free Parking at Crown Casino

Hey,
So, recently I discovered that, with a free rewards card for crown casino, you are entitled to free multi-level parking the next time you visit when you earn 25 'casino points' (can only be earned in the actual casino I think) in a day.

My question is, does anyone know roughly how much cash I would need to spend to amount this many casino points? Would it be worth it?
Cheers.

  • You could stick $10 into a pokie machine and just play one line every couple of minutes., least you used to be able to, not sure if the loophole works anymore

    • The pokie points actually accrue based on play, not time at the machine.

Table points accrue based on time and value of table.

OP needs to change title to 'How Much Money Must I LOSE to Get Free Parking at Crown Casino'

That place wasn't built on winners.

    • If done right correctly, $50 per year. See my post further down.

Free parking (if you lose play enough) versus the time and cost to 'earn' that free parking.
Only attractive if you are a regular player.

  • Are we talking about Perth?

I thoguht the multi-storey car park was free with no strings.

    • Crown Melbourne is a lot more attractive being its in the middle of the cbd and daily parking is usually through the roof

This might help, looks like you have to play tables, not pokies:

It's completely vague about how many points you get betting. Given that, I'd assume it's a terrible deal, and just pay for parking.

At basic member level, you need to spend $50 at a restaurant, hotel or other participating outlet to earn free multi-level parking on your next visit (or earn those pesky mysterious 25 casino points).

Parking is called 'child minding' at Crown.

    • ??

  • Sitting at the table and gamble for an hour or you could play the machine like Sic bo, just sit for an hour you should get enough point(you need to sqip your card and insert money).

The parking is not free if you are simply gambling for the sake of getting that parking. It's only almost free if you're going to gamble anyway. I look at it like a consolation prize for losing more than anything else.

Sensibleness aside, if it's parking you want, you'll get it fastest at the pokies. The points build up much faster there because the win/loss ratio on the machines is so much larger than the tables so the "benefits" were attained faster.

If I remember correctly, it was 1 point for every $2 turnover (as opposed to money inserted into the machine) on the pokie machines. It's been 3 or 4 years, so I'm going off memory. I never really gambled for the points but I was interested in how they work out the points and how much I was going "up and down" on the machines.

At the time, it was 450 crown points per membership point. Gold membership was 25 membership points. Within a month, I was up to 75 membership points which is 3/4 of the way to Platinum membership on pokies alone. Total turnover was close to $70,000 and after all that stress, I broke even and stopped it all right there.

      Exactly.
Like those free coffees at pokie joints.

The moment you put $1 into the Machine. You've covered the cost of a coffee.

The only way to get ahead is to order one or more coffee and not put any money in.

But that's boring, annoying, suspicious and you're not going to have or make any friends

Man who remembers when it was a flat $5 entry?

You could park there for months as it was payable on entry :)

    • how long ago was this??

  • A tip you didn’t hear from me… go to poker, put your name down for a game. Get your name called, collect your ticket, ask them to swipe your card for parking. Go to the table, sit down, play your blinds, $1/2NLHE is cheapest. Fold your cards and leave…

  • On the pokies it's 1 point per $2 played. 500 points = 1 status credit. 25 status credits = gold which is unlimited parking in the good car park. Resets every six months. Or at other non gambling outlets, $1 = 5 points. 1500 points = 1 status credit. So if playing pokies alone, you need to play $25K to get gold.

  • Bring $500cash with you, Park your car, go to baccarat room and get change to chips worth $500 at the counter and get your ticket validated and enjoy free parking

    • Is this still valid nowadays?

  • If you can afford to go into a casino you can afford a car park.

Are you going to the Crown casino to gamble your money or park your car?
Surely there are better options on how to spend your money and park your car

  • You can also spend $50 at the cinema, retail shops or restaurants and get free parking.

"Member Tier must earn 25 Casino points or spend $50 at a Crown hotel, restaurant or other participating
outlets to receive free multi-level parking on next visit."

  • I used to work next to crown (Melbourne) before 2015 and had a gold card for free parking without the daily spend.

How I got the gold card (may have changed since 2015):
    - Spend $450 at a crown hotel on April 1st (or 1st October). 1 night at their best room, or 2 nights at the cheapest room but you will spend about $500 for the 2 nights. This spend will immediately get you to gold status and you will get free parking for the entire year.
    - Your card will revert back to silver after a year, repeat the hotel stay.

Alternatively a friend at work did this method:
    - have a large amount of cash converted to chips at roulette table. The larger the amount of cash you change over, the quicker this process becomes.
    - The pit boss will swipe and keep your card and enter in the amount you have just changed to chips. The system will assume you are turning over the large amount of cash you have just changed to chips.
    - You only need to bet small amounts at the table. Betting small amounts on only red/black for the time you are there, that's close enough to a 50/50 win loss ratio.
    - Cash out your chips at the end, you should have about the same amount of cash you started with.

The work friend did this with about 5k cash for about 3-4 weeks, 1 hour each lunch time (approx. 15-20 hours total). Finished the 4 weeks with a $50 loss and gold status.

    • As an ex dealer and supervisor, some of this is not correct.

Simply changing large amounts of cash means nothing. It would be noted on your card if it is large enough, but until you start spending it, you will not be rated at that level for play. The system will assume you are playing the absolute minimum at that table. Change $7k on a $5 table, and you will be rated as a $5 player.

Roulette is the worst game to do the split bet on. Depending on what version they have there now, you are better off doing the same thing on baccarat. On roulette, on 0, all bets lose. So you lose red and black. On baccarat, dealer win on 6 pays 50%. You lose your player bet, but get half of it back on banker 6 win.
It’s equivalent of $50 red, $50 black, zero comes, you lose $100.
On baccarat banker 6 wins 50%. eg: it’s $50 banker, $50 player, lose player bet, get paid $25 back on banker, so, you only lose $25, not $100 as you would on roulette.

For memory, at minimum bet, it would take about 30 mins of play to qualify for free parking “for that visit”. This may have changed or be altered at any time.

As for earning Gold Rewards level card, you would have to play quite a bit and spend a fair bit to get one. It’s not as easy as you’re making it out to be, but then again, things may have changed since I worked in the industry.

To get to "Gold" tier, you need to accumulate 25 Status Points for a 6 month period starting 1 April and again 1 October.

It takes 500 "Casino Points" to earn 1 Status Point, or 1,500 Lifestyle Points to earn 1 Status Point.

$1 spent at Crown Rewards venues = 5 points. Therefore, it takes $100 spent to earn 500 points that can be converted into 1 Status Point.

Ergo, it would take $2,500 of "spend" to buy enough points to get a card for 6 months, or $5,000 a year.

Points on Table Games and gaming machines are earned at a far slower rate than if you just book a room and eat there. If you are playing minimum table bets it is irrespective of how much you change. You can change $100,000, and still be no closer to earning a gold card than the Nanna beside you who cashed in for $50, until you start throwing those chips down.

      • Thanks Pegaxs, the game choice and odds might not have been the best for my work friend but the concept is still the same. Good information for anyone trying to accumulate points.

I had a quick look at the current reward system and the information I gave may be incorrect because they have changed point system. I couldn't find information on the current hotel spend, if someone wants cheap parking maybe they can look into it and let us know.

The 6 month cycle was always advertised as points earned in the previous 6 months, BUT the way it worked was when you moved up a tier you would move up instantly, which meant 6 months on gold, plus the following 6 months on gold because you earnt points in the previous 6 months. Reward staff at the point kept on trying to tell me I needed to spend every 6 months but I did only spend 450 on a hotel once every year for the full year free parking from 2011-2015. They might have changed this since 2015.

      • Hi Pegaxs, i know this is an old thread, but i wanna ask how is the table game points calculated if you know. Say your at a $200/min table and you place an $200 bet what would be the rough equivalent in casino point. Also if i am betting $500/hand at the $200/min table should i request the AM to up my average rating for calculation thank you
