It is M.2
Yes it's M.2 connector but it's still SATA speeds. So the speeds will top out around 500 instead of the crazy fast NVME drives. I would still recommend M.2 if you can get it instead of 2.5" SSD though as it's nice to have a drive just sit on your mobo instead of having 2 cables in your PC.
Would this be better than the WD Blue 3D NAND 500GB M.2 SATA SSD posted not long ago? It is around $30 more for double the GB so I don't mind waiting for the a similar deal. However if 860 Evo performance is better, might just grab this instead.
What are you going to use it for?
This one can be more secure as it supports hardware encryption. It is also faster particularly for moving larger files, but the other one is twice the size.
Mainly just as the main drive of my Desktop. I don't game much and downloads will do directed to my 4tb hd. Therefore don't think it will impact me much.
The large one is probably better then.
Anyone rush in and buy one of these and realise they don't need it :D
This is a SATA based device, so not such an amazing price.
