Get $100 Cash for Opening a New MyState Everyday Account (Min $1000 Deposit, Make 5 Transactions within 30 Days)

492

Like the previous offer, it is back again and starts again tomorrow.

Note, there are still users waiting for their bonus after the previous offer.

You must deposit $2,000 a month to avoid the $6 monthly fee, although the $2,000 doesn't have to remain in the account.

They seem to be a decent bank in my experience. I have used them a bit since the previous offer.

01/08/18 - waiting for the offer to start again with the terms and conditions they listed yesterday. Until such a time, I'll mark the offer as expired.

  • Slightly unrelated… is a credit check done when you try to apply for transaction accounts?

    • +1

      No

    • +4

Just an ID check. Make sure you're a person.

      • +3

        Damn, there’s always a catch.

      • +8

Damn, I can't open one of these accounts then. I'm a watch.

        • But are you on their watch list?

        • +1

@muncan: I sure am. And time is ticking away…

  • +1

Can you close your account by contacting Customer Care team on 138 001?

  • +3

How long have been ppl been waiting since the previous offer?

    • +3

Since end of May 2018. No confirmed $100 recipients yet though the T&Cs of the offer did say the $100 will be paid "on or before 1 August 2018" so tomorrow will be telling

      • Literally came across this offer looking up the last one to see if anyone had the money yet. I've had to message them to get my account keeping fee credited twice, would not be suprised if I have to do the same for the $100.

        • +1

They credited my account keeping fee after 3 days into the month and charged me debit interest of -1 cent since I had no money left in the account and therefore overdrawn by $6. They still owe me 1 cent!

    • I signed up on the offer before that and got it on the "will be paid on or before date".

  • +4

As indicated, still waiting on my $100.

Last time they apparently waited until the afternoon of the last day: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/374707

I'm withholding my up or down-vote pending how this plays out :)

  • When are they expecting to pay the $100 this time?

    • +2

Eligible customers will receive $100 deposited into their Everyday account on or before 1 October 2018, unless otherwise indicated.

  • +3

    Maybe worth noting…

*Eligible to customers who have not previously held a transaction account at MyState Bank who open an Everyday account online between 01/08/18 and 31/08/18 (inclusive)

    • -2

Makes sense - if they are paying the bonuses from last time on 1st August, instead of before, no one closes their account and re-opens for another $100 this time.

      • +1

If you've ever held an account with them you're ineligible so that's irrelevant.

Eligible to customers who have not previously held a transaction account at MyState Bank who open an Everyday account online between 01/08/18 and 31/08/18 (inclusive)

        • Yeah, I totally misread that - my bad.

  • Just FYI, the folks from the previous deal should get their $100 tomorrow (1 Aug)

  • +2

"Note, there are still users waiting for their bonus after the previous offer."

    im afraid to apply….

    • +3

First offer in April said $50 bonus payment "on or before 1 June". Bonuses were paid on 1 June in the afternoon.

Second offer in May said $100 bonus payment "on or before 1 August". As of 31/7 no bonus has been paid.

With this third offer, I will hold out until 2 August when people confirm bonus payment from second offer and then apply if all's well

      • +2

Cool, hopefully tomorrow afternoon we'll hear back from the May ozbargainers.
        I'm keen for free money!

      • If you want the $100 this time around I wouldn't risk waiting a full day.

The last deal, despite peacefully existing for 6 days and having a day before its expiry, was used up within 9 hours of its posting. And that deal was posted at midnight!

It might be different this time around. But never underestimate the power of OzBargain and the weakness of no-name banks.

        • ok so what should we prepare so i can completed the application online in shortest time possible? for example, have driving licence ready. anything else?

        • @dragonindespair:

          Haha.

At least two of the following:

          • Drivers licence
          • Passport
          • Medicare card

Don't expect PayID to work for a few days. Regardless of what they say ("you need to send in ID manually" is the usual excuse - cost me JP hunting time and $1 in postage for nothing).

  • is this account has interest paid to us or not?

    • +11

      Who cares man, bonus $100!

  • "The MyState Bank Everyday Account offer has expired." ??

    • +1

Guessing because it was too early. They had up previously details for the offer that started tomorrow.

  • Any other benefits of having this bank account compared to ING (my main bank) or is this one pure "pump $100 and dump"?

    • +3

grab and run is more polite

  • Does atm withdrawal count as a card transaction? Or must be purchase?

    • +4

ATM doesn't count. Supermarket self serve, split transaction is the best way.

  • The $100 would be income, right?

    And taxable?

    • As far as I know, yes. I used to ask this every time but nobody answers.

I actually wish the ATO wouldn't have this TFN exception for bank bonuses. I'd much prefer pre-fill than getting a warning or debt over forgetfulness.

Years ago ME bank just reported it as interest, which is even easier to deal with.

      • +1

My accountant told me the $100 bonuses last year from ING referrals were not taxable.
ING said the same thing when I called up and asked.

        • +3

          Bless you Cunningham's Law :):

"The best way to get the right answer on the Internet is not to ask a question, it’s to post the wrong answer".

I've been told the same thing by a bank teller, and then told by someone else that the teller is wrong ("income is income").

When I was doing research I found that the ATO doesn't exempt prizes given by financial institutions e.g. https://www.ato.gov.au/Individuals/Income-and-deductions/Inc…. But bonus payments are way more common than competitions yet don't get a specific mention. Or exemption.

I just want something official and transparent, internet.

          Hopefully this triggers more discussion.

        • Do you know why it was not taxable?

        • @peterpeterpumpkin: > I just want something official and transparent, internet.

No such think with the ATO. Try reading up about how to declare crypto currency mined as a hobby (not a business). What a cluster (profanity)!

    • +1

Is money found on the ground taxable?

      • -1

        No, that's theft.

        • Say the person left it there and couldn't be bothered to pick it up.

  • Whats the minimum for the 5 transactions? Any amount or $1?

    • +1

If I remember tomorrow and they pay out, I'll confirm it's 1 cent (at least for the last deal).

  • -1

Looks like the offer is expired again!

    • +1

It's not tomorrow yet, but it soon will be.

      • Can't believe someone missed that blue big letters tomorrow. Amazing Rob.

  • The MyState Bank Everyday Account offer has expired.

    Expired before beginning

    • I recommend checking back tomorrow. The offer hasn't even started.

That page is as it was when the previous offered finished.

  • I'm confused. Can we deposit $2000 into the account, withdraw it into another bank, then deposit the same $2000 again to avoid the monthly fee?

    • +1

      You don't seem that confused.

    • Yep. And you can use Pay ID to do it if you use that. So you only tie up the money for a minute.

      • Actually, it sounds like you're depositing money twice? I just transferred $2000 from my NAB into Mystate account then transferred back, using Pay ID.

Well, leaving what I needed for the required transactions.

Clicked on MySate Website but showing

The MyState Bank Everyday Account offer has expired.

    • -1

Check again during business hours. They're not a big bank, so most likely don't have something that will flip the page on the turn of the new day.

  • +1

    Still showing expired

    • OzBargained

      • +1

LOL. MyState should change "expired" to "been reneged"

  • The MyState Bank Everyday Account offer has expired.
    Finished or hasn't started?

    • Hasn't started yet, perhaps never will

  • +6

Just phoned and was told this has been withdrawn and will not be running again. Have no idea where the poster got there information that this add will be running again from today?!

    • +4

Thanks, saved me, several friends and family members some hassle.

    • -1

It was on the website yesterday with all the new terms and conditions. To be paid by October 1.

Maybe they decided not to run it after all.

  • +1

Smart move to withdraw. Fortune does not always favour the generous: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-06-18/hot-pot-restaurant-goe…

  • +4

oh no i feel $100 poorer already

  • +1

Expired before it even began… poor move from the bank !! Not sure if the others are paid out for the previous deal either

    • maybe wet their pants already after checking how many members ozb has (and * that with $100).

  • They only had the last offer open for a few days as well :|

They should just not bother. They know they are going to attract lots of churners.

    • +1

so why running promo if afraid to spend $.. weird…

      • +1

They probably have a marketing budget to spend, or a new account holder quota to hit.
