    Very nice price.

    • How do I get it? I haven't been able to find any such info on Lenovo's website? Thanks in advance for your helps guys!

  • Does anti glare mean its a matte display?

    • Yes. I had one it's a nice machine. Only problem was it did not have indication lights eg HDD activity status, Cap Lock etc. Otherwise a very goods computer. At this price it's unbeatable. Especially as it has the trackpoint and matte display.

    Tech Specs

    http://shopap.lenovo.com/ISS_Static/WW/ap/au/en/products/pdf…

I just purchased one (paid with Amex - no surcharge). FYI, the only options I upgraded was the integrated bluetooth, fingerprint reader and 64 bit Windows.

  • Does anyone know how to get the Spanish keyboard with this ?

    • It may be possible as a special order but I don't like your chances. You could try calling Lenovo on 1300 557 073.

    • You can add it in the control panel > regional settings. Then press alt-shift to change keyboards.
There is only a few keys difference, just need to remember them.

  • Checking on the link, is it worthwhile to get the i% one instead, with less HD space and RAM?

  • Does anyone know if this is good enough for gaming? The video card seems a bit weak (even with the 5145 option). I am not looking for full on high detail as long as it is somewhat playable.

Here is a video demonstrating StarCraft with the standard integrated Intel HD graphics on a 14" model.

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mB848dxQpLA

The HD5145 option would be even better so I would recommend at getting it for only the $52 extra. For the price, I think you wont find better.

I am a techie, I couldn't get on with the Thinkpad Edge 15.

I couldn't argue with the spec, but it was the little things that literally annoyed me about the laptop - e.g - no HDD activity or wireless status lights.

The touchpad was too big, causing me to move the mouse & click with my palm when typing.

I also found the laptop had a flimsy feel to it.

Needless to say, after two days, I swapped the laptop for my old Thinkpad SL500.

For the home / non techie user it would be a great laptop.

is this a copy and paste from the youtube comments :)

      • +1

lmao, truebargains got busted!! You guys are too switched on here.

  • +1

yes you are right thetrash seems like truebargains copy paste this comment. man make your own…tsk tsk tsk!

  • Appears there is no numpad, amazing for a 15.6 inch lappy. :(

  • Do we know what colour they are offering ?, doest appear to have an option in customize and buy- thanks

    • It is included in the 3rd option under "Display type". You have 3 choices; Midnight Black - Gloss, Heatwave Red - Gloss & Midnight Black - Smooth.

I picked the smooth (matte) black option.

  • Does this laptop feature USB 3.0 ?

    • No, it has 3 x USB 2.0 (1 powered) & 1 USB / eSata Combo.

  • What is the 'pointing device', and how is a fingerprint reader a benefit?

    • I'm not sure about the pointing device either, might be a stylus or some sort. But a fingerprint reader you can use to sign into stuff anywhere you need a password, for example logging into windows, or signing onto ozbargain. Quite worth the 5 bucks really. I've been using fingerprint readers for years.

      • Heres a video on the TrackPoint pointing device:-

        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UJncPhNtUI

I have always been a fan of Trackpoints and have never had a notebook without one. All Toshiba's use to have them back in the mid 90's but unfortunately they are only available on the highe$t end Tecra models these days.

    • It's called UltraNav I think — a combination of trackpoint + touchpad so you have the best of both world. However from friend who also bought an Edge 15, the touch pad is way too big and you can easily accidentally touch it when you are typing.

On the other hand the trackpoint is quite good, which allows you to move your mouse pointer without leaving your hands off home row.

    • +2

I think the trackpoint is what my friends call the "clitoris" - hard to learn how to use properly !

But man, when you get the hang of it……..

  • Hey guys thinking off buying this Laptop. Not to sure if i should wait for the new model with the current Sandy Bridge

    • +1

Seriously? For less than $600 bucks, they're most likely selling these because of Sandy bridge. You're not going to find them at this price until sandy bridge's successor comes up.

  • seems like a good price, maybe get the extra warranty

  • Is there a reason why people are not talking about the Core i5 processor version which is AU$635.62?

    • +1

Lack of ram and HDD and dearer.

      • OK, I didn't realise that the original deal for the model was gone from the Lenovo website.
        Too bad…

  • What the…have they changed the offer?

When I click on the link it now says:

Edge 15" laptop with Intel Core i3 processor
    From: AU$1,665.65*
    Sale price: AU$572.38

    Total memory
    2 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM)

    Hard drive
    250GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm

  • Same Here, I Add to cart and an email was sent to my email address with the correct total but now the price and components has changed. Very SHONKY indeed. They say the deal is up to the 14th of Feb 2011 and now it has disappeared.

  • +1

    He who hesitates is lost.

Lenovo have jacked the price up from $559.46 to $659! Put a friend onto it just in time and was considering it myself but don't really need one.

Wonder if the pricing was wrong or if demand was a tad steep so they thought they'd grow their margin?

Man - now I've checked 10mins later and that model is gone completely! Must have sold out. Only the lower end one at $572 or the i5 at $635. Go the latter if you have to. The $559 i3 4gb 7200rpm HDD model was definitely the value pick…well done to those who got it.

    • Oh well, that explains why I can't find it, been looking for last half hour on their website.

  • BOOO!

I really wanted this laptop, checked their website and the deal had changed. I signed up to ozbargain just to express my disappointment with Lenovo and warn the rest of you but was beaten to it.

    • You could try calling Lenovo. See the post by boxall below.

  • Better still get a T series (business class) at 35% off this weekend when your configuration is $2k or above.

  • +6

OK, try this link. It seems to be currently working. It takes you straight to the checkout.

      Note:

The OP link I posted isn't available to the general public. Lenovo has an arrangement with a handful of Australian companies/organisations and always offer them 15%-20% off the normal web price INCLUDING their sales campaigns.

In future, if you use this link below you should always pay at least 15% less than the public web prices.

      http://www.lenovo.com/au/memben

The original "super sale" offer I posted does appear to be removed but if you use the link from my post above it is currently still active. I hope this helps some of you who still wanted to buy this deal.

    • I don't know how long this deal will stay active for so if you do buy the notebook please double check the specs are the 4GB RAM, 500GB 7200 HDD with an original price of $1,914.15, a sale price of $559.46 & total savings of $1,354.69.

      • Seems to show $1.9k as the price now, instead of the proper savings amount =/

    • Doing an order now, pretty good deal, upgrading the gfx adds $62.57 instead of $52.14, don't mind the extra $10…

      • same here. $10extra. but still good deal.

        • How did you guys get to it? Clicking the above link shows a price of $1.8k with a savings of like $90.

        • But in the end the price went up to $1.9k… didnt get the deal…
Also it cleared my cart totally… Total savings $627, didn't need it anyway…sob…

    • How did you get the link? I could not get something like that without the direct link.
Can you get something that cheap for 14" laptops?

      • .

Got one at the original price in the end! Just rang Lenovo direct and mentioned the offer. No issues!

Ended up getting the base unit with:

    i3 upgrade
    Graphics upgrade
    BT upgrade
    Finger print reader

    $679 delivered.

    • Excellent!!

  • Oh and 64 bit windows.

  • I wonder now if the 390m is worth the $40.

    • Not really

  • I've just been notified that my notebook build has been shipped via DHL. ETA is the 18th.

I also ordered a BT mouse off them today (with free shipping). I used the Australian Members link I provided and saved at least 20%.

    • What bits did you order in the end?

      • BT upgrade
        Finger print reader
        WIN 64 Bit
        BT Mouse

  • Will stick with the i3-390m. Any bit of extra grunt will come in handy in 6 months.

  • Cancelled my order in the end. Overkill for what I need and also the space I have.

Went with that bargain netbook. $259.

  • when did you guys receive the estimate delivery date?? i havent got anything yet except the order confirmation email. :(

    • Your next email will be a "Shipment Notification". I'm guessing they received quite a few orders of this deal and playing catch-up. From memory the website did say that shipping could take up to 2 weeks. Mine arrived today but I was one of the 1st to order this deal.

  • My ThinkPad Edge 15" arrived today and I couldn't be happier. Its a brilliant machine.

    • BTW, it arrived a day earlier then the ETA I was given.
