[Windows/Mac OS] Photolemur Express, Now Free (Was USD $15) @ Sharewareonsale

40

Came across this deal, which is good. Installed the app on my Mac and tried it out. I must say it's not too bad at all for the automated algorithms. Not the best compared to the regular big photo editing apps that allow manual changes, but for those of you who just want a fully automated photo enhancement app, this is the one in the market from what I read. The only downside to this version is that you cannot batch process your photos, and have to add 1 photo at a time. But it's free! You can get as many license keys as you want by using multiple emails for installation in more than one computer.

  • Free Nagware too…

    • It's totally legit. The app is the actual photo app, as you need the free license key to activate the app, if not it will not work. I have also scanned it with my antivirus, no malware of any sort.

      • -1

        It's a customised version.

It will keep reminding you to upgrade to the latest version to get the latest features.

        • This is a standalone version, which does not provide any future upgrade (read the T&C). I have used many of such free good apps, which require a license key, They are full apps without any malware and offer the actual functionality of the app. You must not have tried any of them before.

        • @beetlebum:

          This is a standalone version

It's a 'customised' standalone version, that's been programmed to keep reminding you to 'pay' to upgrade to the latest version to get the latest features.

        • @beetlebum:

Have you not ever downloaded from sharewareonsale before?

        • So far I have not paid for any upgrade at all, which are all good apps.

        • @jv: So far my experience have all been good on my Mac. No issues, all legit. You can read the last 2 comments, You basically just need the licence key, and can install the app from their own website.

        • @beetlebum:

          Do don't have to pay…

It just keeps 'nagging' you to upgrade to a newer version.

        • @jv: I don't quite understand, as the app does not nag nor offer you the chance to upgrade. I have been using such apps for a while, basically you just need the licence key and you can head to the actual website to download the official version if you want.

        • @beetlebum:

the app does not nag nor offer you the chance to upgrade.

          it will…

        • @jv: Haha, you win! =)

"How do you avoid Shareware on Sale's sneaky nagware?"

(edit: Sorry JV, I clicked on the wrong one to reply to. Meant for beetlebum - that post does actually explain it all.)

It's pretty obviously documented that this does install nagware; if you're not careful around the obfuscated / counter-intuitive wording, you will end up installing that nagware on your computer.

Since I haven't installed PhotoLemur, I wouldn't know exactly what that nagware constitutes (as opposed to other types of malware or viruses), and I'm not saying it will hobble the app or anything. You'll get a full version, most likely, along with popups (see link) urging you to go get other things as well.
