Don't Seagate drives have one of the highest failure rates?

Seagate are trash. Hence why they’re almost always on special.

      Historically, yes.
The 'new models' are getting mixed results, as is always the way with people trying to report bias.
Just gotta wait for the EOY data centre statistics to see who's holding the crown now.

Personally, some of these portables have Seagate IronWolf drives in them, and they claim almost literally double what WD RED claims as their MTBF and such.

      • and they claim

        'claim' may not reflect reality…

Have a 3TB one of these that has refused to be recognised by PCs. Wont be touching them again.

    Was recently $130 at Amazon.

Currently $135.19 with free Aust Prime International shipping from Amazon USA.
$159 from Amazon AU direct - Free shipping for Prime members. So I guess not really a deal at JB HiFi.

      • Is there a way to get around Amazon USA not shipping to Australia?

        • How much cheaper is it direct? I didn't check.
That price is what Amazon Australia charge through their internal Amazon USA channel.
You buy it from Amazon AU. With AU Prime membership the shipping is "free"(if $49 or over). A lot of stuff is three times the USA price tho.
